Interesting that, in the UEFA Youth League, Arsenal have won all three of their games while Bayern have lost all three of theirs. Maybe the future isn't bright for Germany? They got lucky with one generation.

first of all, Bayern do not have a single german youth international in their squad ( under 19 and under 17) and were very awful last year in their regional division as they finished 22 points behind Hoffenheim and were beaten by them 5:0 at home

the top teams in youth football are Schalke ( current champion) Hertha, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim. furthermore are playing the most gifted players for their club reserve in senior football and wont be used in this competition.

new will be at the under 19 tournament, that there will be a playoff between the 3rd placed teams of each group to find the 5th european participant for the next under 20 world cup.

It's rare that a player will say they'd rather play for their club, but clubs will pull them out of tournaments all the time. Reece Oxford was kept in England to sit on the bench for West Ham instead of going to the U18 World Cup earlier this season for example.
