England u19 started their Euros campaign with a 2-0 win over Bulgaria, goals from Chelsea's Mason Mount and Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon. We probably needed to make sure of that win, with the Netherlands and Germany up next.

England U19s beat the Netherlands 1-0 to secure a place in the next round. England comfortably better throughout the game missing a host of chances, but finally got the only goal in the last 10 minutes.

....only for the U21, not for the U20 and U19. And it was (is still) a good summer for England's youth football.

England was dominant here and won deservedly. Good luck for the semi-final against the Czechs!

Take a look at our Under 21 squad which missed out to qualify for the euros 2011 and finished 3rd in their group behind the Czechs and Island with only collecting 2 wins, both against San Marino i guess. They were not even able to beat Northern Ireland:

We've not done too shabby ourselves with the U20, U19, U17, I certainly can't remember a summer like it!

The problem/challenge for us, as you allude to above, is bringing those players though to fruition with senior football. Something Germany, Spain and France for example have done very well with previously successful youth crops. Only time will tell on that, I've not hugely optimistic, but its as good a base to work from as any.

Of course it never tells the whole story. I've only pointed out, after your post about the good summer for Germany's youth teams, that it was only a good summer for the U21 (and not the U20, U19) and the U21's who played in the Confed Cup. Of course we have had some talent in the (actual) U20, U19, too but that wasn't what I meant

btw: This is the thread about "The Future of England 2.0" and not about Germany's.
I have never a problem to congratulate England's youth teams when they beat us (or are reaching a semi-final, a final (like the U20 WC)). Never saw a post from you where you congratulate (only writing about here that England could go home if this or that happens (which didn't happen) but maybe I've overread it?).

And that's Portugal turned over, England U19 Euro winners. Add that to the U20 world cup and the Toulon, quite the haul this summer from England's youth.

Congratulations to the English U19 team. Well done, boys! Quite some success for England's youth teams this summer. I like that (if it's not Germany who wins the title I always want a british team (so normally England ) to win it instead. At least the youth can fulfill it)

They do a lot of number-crunching at Borussia Mönchengladbach. According to their sporting director Max Eberl, they use every available metric and statistic as they scout and scour Europe for the best young talent in Europe. “A lot of numbers,” he says in his office at Borussia-Park. “All the numbers that are possible today.”

Those numbers have led Eberl and his colleagues to conclusions that are backed up every time they watch the England youth teams or indeed the Premier League’s competitions at under-23 and under-18 level. “We follow every English national game — under-16, under-17 and so on — and we know every top player in England,” he says. “They develop great players. That age group [born in] 2000 in England, you could take every player. It’s unbelievable. They will perhaps win the Under-17 World Cup in India this month. That age group of 1999-2000-2001, there are a lot of top English players. For me, they’re the best in the world in that age group.”
