The problem is that PL clubs prefer to buy foreign players rather than integrating youngsters. Teams in both the PL and Championship have way too money to spend.

West Ham will never single-handedly win England the World Cup again at that rate.

Typical England snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I guess our luck kind of ran out after France missed 2 penalties but then we missed some early chances too.

Red card was probably justified unfortunately.

What a daft OG by Wan-Bissaka - just went with his wrong foot.

Got a lot of work to do now...

Sheffield United will want to sign him up or could he get a chance at Man U if De Gea leaves?

Good keeper but still prone to the odd cock up, another loan to a Premier League side is probably the next logical step.

Well you can put this England U21 team in the bin. Bloody awful from Aidy Boothroyd. Firstly, an atrocious squad selection that contained only 1 natural holding midfield and about 3-4 numbers 10s.

His team selection hasn't been much better. Out of the 4 strikers who went, Solanke should have been 3rd or 4th choice. Yet he starts the opening game. Abraham should have been leading that line all day long after the season he's just had. Bizarre decision to drop Foden who is one of, if not, the best player at the tournament. Comments like 'We went to manage his minutes' is bollocks. There's 3 days between games and he's at an age where he could probably recover and play again after 2 days. I didn't see Romania dropping Hagi...

Rubbish manager. FA should be sacking him immediately and looking for someone with the slightest clue.

Aidy Boothroyd is a terrible manager, can't believe we leave our future stars in the hands of him.

I'm still in shock that this man is in charge of our brightest crop of players for a long time, leaving out Foden is criminal. It'll go down as a shocking tournament but there were good signs going forward, just too many mistakes at the back over 2 games. Think a new manager is required.

Foden needs to be involved with the senior squad next season for me, as does potentially Abraham is he's playing regularly in the Premier League.

Need somebody like Eddie Howe to come in and take over and have something in the contract that he gets the England job after Southgate is done, if he successful with the u21s.

Foden is a ridiculous talent. Consider that he’s had about half a season of senior experience and he looked twice the player of a good prospect like Maddison who has had 2 seasons of being very good at club level.

If Foden isn’t starting in that England midfield by the Euros, barring injury, then I’ll be very miffed.

Saw this quote elsewhere-

A brief ‘year in review’ for youth: U17s failed to qualify for the World Cup, U19s failed to qualify for the Euros, U20s failed to qualify for the World Cup, bombed out in 9th place at Toulon, U21s don’t get out of their Euros group, Cooper leaves U17 role, Ashworth gone....england arent very good.simples

Don't really follow youth footy that much but I thought everyone was getting all excited and we were meant to be doing well at all development levels? On paper that record looks shite.

The FA replaced Ashworth with another dinosaur. They will rest on their laurels if they're given even the slightest opportunity to. It's what happens when football people don't run the place.

Hoofroyd played some of the worst football I've ever seen at Colchester and the fact he is in charge of the England youngsters is barely believable.

Is the England U21 job actually attractive to anyone inside the top 2 divisions?

Think he was a Youth team coach before becoming our manager so probably had contacts in the FA at that level .

I think England really need to find a coach that is already at a club in the Championship or Premier League and allow him to split that job with his club duties.

I don't think there are any rules against it. Why would anyone want that though?
