Nope. He's not going to take him so it'd be a pointless exercise.

Any chance of Woy deciding not to take Sterling :animatedf:

All of our wide options are in terrible form. Sterling, Walcott and Ox. Just not been good enough this season.

Real chance for someone like Lennon and Lingard to make a late claim. No doubt Milner will be shoved out there.

Sterling has been crap today, but was great against Dynamo Kiev, and has been fine all season I feel.

How about we play the diamond and ignore them - in terms of the XI anyway.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

Occasion, and in particular, the opposition got to him a bit, but I don't think he was crap. Early on they had to bring him down on the edge of the area a couple of times, and he got into the dangerous positions twice even if he did fluff his lines.

Read earlier that he has 10 goals and 11 assists this season. Which isn't all that bad for a wide player at this stage of the season.

Half of that was just against us!!

Going by Hodgson's comments on Sky Jack Wilshere is likely to go to the Euros.

Be a risk with the lack of games and fitness record and it's not like we are that short of options in midfield..

What I said about Wilshere - been injured all season and seems set to walk straight back into the squad and even team at the expense of an in form player.

For some reason I was listening to Talksport (I must have got sick of the EU) yesterday and I thought Hodgson spoke very well. Rooney was in quite good form again before he got injured, of course he'll be in the squad. No reason Kane, Vardy and Welbeck can't go too. You don't only take one player for every position (and Welbeck wouldn't expect to be picked at centre-forward anyway).

Hodgson was interesting on tournament preparation. Said you can obsess over systems etc but at the end of any tournament there's usually one player everyone's talking about who dragged their team further than the sum of their parts merited. It was in relation to Bale rather than any England players. Can't think of an England player we could anticipate to help us overperform. Kane?

Wilshere can't go. He won't even be nearly match fit (and probably not even fit at all, given his number of setbacks this season). It would be a terrible decision.

A newly returning Wilshere is still better than any other CM we have. I would not be surprised if Wenger pushes for his inclusion too as part of his recovery. He was enthusiastic about Wilshere going to the U21 Euros too until Hodgson and Southgate made clear that it wasn't going to happen.

Don't laugh, but I think Welbz could be really handy coming back full of fitness and enthusiasm, and he always does a job for England. He hasn't been ground down by a full season of PL football and won't have been fit long enough for Wenger to break him. I'd far rather him than Walcott or Ox on current form.

I also hope Charlie Daniels is at least considered for a friendly...haven't seen many better left backs this season (in my heavily biased opinion)...

..

I'd take Welbeck in a heartbeat over Walcott and Ox. I hope Sturridge can stay fit as he'd be very useful as well.

I don't get why anyone would laugh at that, Welbeck will probably start if he's anywhere near full fitness. Same goes for Wilshere.

Well we have tried that before (playing half fit players..) and its not worked.

This is the squad one bookmaker predicts:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Jack Butland, Fraser Forster

Left-backs: Luke Shaw, Ryan Bertrand

Right-backs: Nathaniel Clyne

Centre-halves: Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Phil Jones

Defensive Midfielders: Jordan Henderson, Jack Wilshere, Eric Dier, James Milner

Attacking Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Raheem Sterling, Theo Walcott, Dele Alli

Forwards: Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy, Danny Welbeck

i would start the following 11

Hart
Clyne-Stones-Cahill-Bertrand
Henderson-Dier
Alli-Rooney-Sterling
Sturridge

but a lot to cover for your DMs.

the problems i see is Cahill is too slow (Dier has to cover) and the full-backs too offensive, Alli and Sterling have to do their defensive work, Also is Hart an awful footballer ( will be replaced by Guardiola at his 1st day)

As the tournament approaches it looks like we'll be in good nick with our striker and midfield options. But I'd say we're looking weak on the wing and at the back.

Cahill has had a poor season whilst Stones form has dipped of late. Smalling has also tailed off a bit this season whilst Jagielka has done ok in parts but not enough to start for England. God knows what the combination would be there.

I also think Kyle Walker, despite him not being the best defender, has had a very good season and I'd argue he perhaps deserves a starting spot over Clyne who has been ok but not the set the world alight.

I think Henderson and Dier as a pair is the best that we currently have. Then it's up to the front four. I actually agree with Mente Captus' 4 with the exception of Sturridge, as Kane should lead the line. Plus he has the understanding with Alli. Sterling gets the nod narrowly ahead of Welbeck whilst we all know Rooney will play.

Cahill is one of Roy's favourites, so I'm pretty sure he'll be starting alongside Smalling unless Stones can find his way back into the Everton side.

The statistical best 11 for England would be:

Butland
Daniels Dawson Dann Francis
Noble
Alli Drinkwater
Barkley
Kane Vardy

According to Sky.

Honestly don't even know who Francis is. Does he play for Bournemouth?

Yep, both fullbacks are Bournemouh lads. Though I've put them the wrong way round in that setup.

Inverted fullbacks ftw!

I would love Charlie Daniels to get a call up. Highly doubt it would happen. Would be interested to see if there was a statistical break down of the top 30 players or so.
