This could play into Louie Barry's hands. with McKirdy on one side and Barry on another you have 2 quick players that can run into the flanks. Against Walsall this worked perfectly and we countered them to death. Hopefully this happens tonight but I reckon Vale might sit a bit deeper and look to play a bit more considered, longer game.

We’ll definitely look to take it deep and I think that is right. My guess is we’ll look to keep it goalless up to about 65-70 then crank up the pressure. Something we have been very good at this season is turning games around when we’ve fallen behind so there’s lots of experience to draw on.

Of course I am hoping he has an influence on the game like the first leg but he's going to be a right shit tonight and play up for the cameras/crowd. He'll be in the referees face waving his arms about and looking for that reaction from Vale's defenders. If the shoe was on the other foot and he was a Vale player he'd be the kind of player I absolutely detest, but as he plays for us, you kind of love it.
Its like the Lee Hughes one, we gave him so much stick... signs for us then we are all doing the Hughesy!

When he leaves Swindon and faces them again and puts some stuff on insta etc I am sure he will get stick.

Fickle game football!

What you thinking for any changes tonight?

I’ll be absolutely amazed if it’s goalless at 65-70 mins.

You never know with DC. Think a lot hinges on Proctor and what we can get out of him. To me you want him on the pitch at the end of the game so would expect us to start with Wilson and someone else. Wouldn’t totally shock me though if DC goes with Harratt and then Edmondson and Proctor as the impact subs. I’m struggling to justify Worrall starting unless we change formation also.

Really looking forward to watching tonight now we've booked our place, Not sure how we managed it after ASF and Negative Adam saying we had no chance all week.. :)):

I see tickets are going to be sold through ticketmaster. Bet our ticket office staff are more buzzing about that than the actual result last night
Bet you can’t wait for the same positivity about the chances we stand at Wembley!

I liked big Phil's line up on Ale and Vale POD myself... pretty much the side that finished Sunday with Gibbo at RCB to utilise his pace as you dont need a big man in there against Swindon, that puts Smudge back in his favoured central position against a big man which is the type of player he usually thrives on battling.

Benning to come in for Martin.

Proctor we need to try and get through the game for me he is crucial to what we do, I would stick with Woz as RB.

The other question is Lucas Covolan!

fuck off haha.

We’ve certainly no chance against either port vale or swindon who again will be clear favourites, but being positive we’ll get some decent money from it!

That's surprisingly positive for you mate

Benning absolutely has to come in. I think more than anyone he brought us back into it on Sunday. I’d be good with Gibbo at RCB. Of course also brings the question of could Dan Jones play and move Hall into the middle? That long throw could be a nice weapon to have tonight.

As for Lucas I know some have said for him to come on for penalties but I don’t think that ever works and I think it sends the wrong message to Stone that we don’t believe in him.

Swindon seem to have done Vales team talk for them. Just have to use that in the right way :bg:

More examples of the arrogance coming from the Swindon camp....this time from their captain:

We play better football than them, we're better footballers, so we’ve just got to take care of the physical side of the game and we’ll be alright.

“We don’t need to give anyone elbows, we just need to compete with them. We’re a fit side, we’re a strong side, we are very good with the ball.

“We don’t choose to lump the ball in the air, but when we needed to, we’ve obviously shown that we can.

"On Thursday, we've just got to do what we did [on Sunday] and that's compete. Hopefully we can get the clean sheet on Thursday and we'll be through to Wembley ".

I'd be embarrassed if our players talked so disparigingly of the opposition.
Blimey mate. Have you been employed to cut all these comments out and paste them on the wall as an incentive?

Well at least they’re listening to Garners nonsense.

When we played them last they spent half the game throwing themselves to the floor - just wait for tonight

It’s only a game, it doesn’t really matter, just enjoy it.
I keep saying this to myself.
I’m not convincing myself.
My heart says 3-1
My head says 2-2
Just don’t whimper out like Northampton last night, let’s have some drama!

for me I reckon a midfield square of Garrity and Wilson behind Proctor and Charsley and Pett behind them. Lots of flexibility. But Proc probs won't start.

I was hoping our players would keep quiet about the opposition but here we are. Seems stupid to say we have better footballer's in the press. Keep that shit in house. Oh well.

Still got extra time and pens written all over it. Most importantly we need to get a foothold in the game early and Davison needs to be far more on it than he was Sunday after the silly yellow card to hold the ball up and stop waves of attacks coming our way.

I'll be staying away from Twitter for a while if we mess this one up.

Hope Davison has his extra strength shirt on. They tried to rip it off him Sunday.

Players can be muppets if that is what Conroy said. But Garner has been quite measured in what he's said. Here's his press conference:

Currently a ongoing campaign by a fair few Northampton fans suggesting the bloke who ran on the pitch from the main stand at Sixfields, and went straight to fan favourite Bowery to push him was a Mansfield fan.

I’m not really bothered if he’s a Northampton fan or not, just condemn him, simple enough.

Think any normal fan of ours or anyones would condemn him. Not seen any names been mentioned in the local paper but the guys an absolute idiot. Dont want him at Sixfields or any other ground again. Come down hard on these idiots.

Think they assume hes a Mansfield fan as the colour of the flare was orangey and they assumed it was linked to Mansfield (yes I know you play in Yellow). That and he was mouthing off to the home fans as he was kicked out.

Not justifying it whatsoever though. Complete and utter idiot, ban him. No excuse for anyone attempting to justify in any way.

I’d settle for the shittest of shitty 0-0’s - but it won’t be!

I was clock (I said clock, not penis!) watching the whole second half of the Walsall game when we were 3-0 up so I don't think I could take 90 minutes if that was the case!!
