I have spent the last week ploughing through The French Revolution on youtube.

It is a huge massive epic all in French with subtitles so takes abit of getting through, but is quite historically correct, beautifully shot and good for someone who likes big historical epics, covers the whole lotand I very much enjoyed it all.

not one to recommend for everyone, but if your a big historical film buff, head onto youtube and get it watched.

Oooh I'll check that out Dave cheers. Struggling to get interested in tv or film stuff just now so last night I was indeed trawling around Youtube looking at Japanese comedy for hours! Always been fascinated by that period (many of my heroes in fact and fiction are from that time) and I'd like to learn a bit more about the French Revolution.

Link for it below, but you have to click on 'cc' to put subtitles in. Very beautifully done as i say, but long.

Mad Max, Fury Road. Incredible. Big fan of the originals and this one didn't disappoint.

A lot more soppy than I thought it would have been and I don't think the story was as good as Hawking, the BBC adaptation staring Benedict Cummerbund however the performance of Eddie Readymeal was stunning. Very much deserving of his Oscar.

6/10 for the film though.

It's just evaporated from my memory. Why even call it 'total recall' if it's going to be so different? And shit.

Agreed, they may as well have called it something daft like We Can Remember It For You Wholesale or summat.

Yeah I don't fancy this film version at all, I've seen the BBC version multiple times anyway so I don't need to revisit it.

I'm sure there was a three tit woman at one point? Surely that bumps it up to a 3/10, one for each areola.
There is a three boobed woman and she's really hot, however I don't think you get to see her nipples so we'll downgrade it back to a 2/10. Terrible remake.

Mad Max, Fury Road. Incredible. Big fan of the originals and this one didn't disappoint.

Do I have to watch the originals to get into this?

Yep, totally ridiculous film. Saw it in iMax 3D yesterday. I re-watched 1 and 2 prior to going to see this, however I accidentally downloaded a Portuguese version of the one with Tina Turner in so didn't get chance to watch that recently. Considering Fury Road has very little in the way of storyline and is essentially a single car chase, it was really enjoyable. I was half expecting it to suck, but I also wasn't disappointed. Due to the aforementioned lack of plot, you don't need to have seen the originals either. It kind of threatens to explore some previous ground, in the form of sporadic flashbacks but they never really work their way in fully.

I found Hawking much more interesting than TTOE, mainly because it focused more on his science than his relationships. TTOE seemed to gloss over his PHD work and it takes place over about 30 years so waters it down somewhat.

I bought TTOE on DVD, not sure I'd watch it again though.

Yeah as someone who has studied that field I enjoy the scientific parts of Hawking and I heard the film did skip over it quite a bit and make it a 'human drama'. Its still an interesting story though for those that haven't seen it, but I've read books from him, seen documentaries about him and his illness, and seen the BBC adaptation; so I don't need to see this Redmayne portrayal anyway.

The Hooligan Factory
Didn't expect much of it but it was actually pretty ok, different take on the hooligan genre which made me laugh in places. I also loved how they managed to get all of the characters and actors from all of the 'serious' films into it, gave it that bit extra. 5/10.

Aftermath
Love post-apocalyptic stuff so I enjoyed this, more tense than anything particularly scary. 6/10.

My Cousin Vinny

This is honestly a hidden classic and one I recommend people to watch. Its that type of film people will sort've look at and think 'nah' about a New York Lawyer working an Alabama defence case......partially serious, but mostly comedy......but the 2 main actors are superb, the plot is decent and the whole film is really enjoyable.

It's an absolute classic. Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for it.

She is in that film for me personally the hottest female in a film, I don't know why but I just find her so attractive in that.....just the whole package.

Mad Max: Fury Road.

Suprised there's not more people talking about this. It's one of the best films I've seen in a while. I loved the concept of the film being almost a single chase scene. I almost felt quite anxious whenever the characters stopped for any reason. My adrenaline gland was almost drained by the end.

The attention to detail is incredible too, the design of the cars and rigs, the over-the-top style of the whole thing, particularly as a contrast to the barren desert.

If you like that single chase theme concept nousername I recommend Spielberg's 1971 film called 'Duel' which is the best chase film I've seen (I know not many about)

anyway my choice last night was Will Hay: Old Bones of the River

I love Will hay films, usually when people want to watch real old school comedy they go Laurel & Hardy, three Stooges, Marx Brothers or Chaplain, but for me Will Hay films just top all them, well a selection of them.

Old Bones is a strange one, the first 25 minutes are awful, well boring and you sort've think of not bothering then Will hay meets up with his 2 usual gang from his best films...Moore Marriot and Graham Moffatt and the film turns into 1 straight hour of cracking one-liners, set-up jokes and lots of sarcastic humour....which I usually enjoy best.

Set if Africa with Will hay being the bumbling idiot who nearly helps start a black African revolution against British Rule.....a subject most may go 'oh dear' to, but it has no Racist jokes or basis at all......all comedy just done between the 3 leads.

Watched Ghostbusters last night, really does not get old, could watch it again & again

I agree with you there. I watched Along Came Polly last night and it's very good, with plenty of laughs throughout.

Ropey in parts and the effects have aged fairly poorly but I still quite enjoyed it. 8/10.

Honeymoon
Slow burn of a horror. Couple have their honeymoon out in the countryside in a cabin and then shit starts to get bad. Well, worse. I mean, things are already bad coz they're having their honemoon in a fucking dismal cabin. 6/10.
