Jungle Book (1967)
My favourite Walt Disney film and not because of my username Baloo is hilarious and i love the elephants,monkeys and vultures. I watched this on Channel 4 yesterday after the pub and found myself singing along to all the songs,my missus thought i was an idiot I used to watch this on video in my dope smoking days and hadn't seen it for probably 20 years,an absolute joy watching this again after so long. 9.5/10.

Blue Collar (1978)

Starring Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel & Yaphet Kotto it tells the story of three friends working in a car factory in the city of detroit in 1977 suffering from low wages ill treatement from their employers and their own union who are just as corrupt as the man. It really captures the essence of that era perfectly and shows the struggles of the working class and how hopeless they feel about life.

Its not a film for everyone but a hidden masterpiece in my opinion, considering I love that decade in American history i might be a little biased but overall highly recomended

Hilary Swank is the spinster in 1850's Nebraska charged with taking three women who've been driven mad by frontier life back east with the help of alcoholic squatter Tommy Lee Jones. Depressing, upsetting and wonderful western. 9/10

Everest (2015).
Disappointed with this one. I know it's horrible what happened but it just doesn't make for a good film, either that or it's just been badly made anyway. The problem is it's boring, these guys basically went up the mountain and got stuck in a storm and froze to death, which doesn't make for a particularly entertaining film. It's well acted and shot though, so not completely a waste of time. 6/10.

Jennifer Lawrence is predictably great in this, and she helps carry the movie throughout. Starts of really well but just sort of fades in the end; one of David Russell's weakest entries but still pretty entertaining.

The Revenant: 9/10

Gut-wrenchingly brilliant. Great performances, stunning visuals make it one of my favorite movies this year. Could have been around 10 minutes shorter but no real complaints there!

Finally took a look at Sinister (2012). I didn't have much expectations on this movie that's why I've never seen it before but contrariwise I really liked it. I think the mystery vibe was pretty well done and made me interested in it from the first second until the last. It's rare to find recent movies of this gender that are good but this one surprised me. For me it's a 7.5/10.

A Most Violent Year (2014)
Set in New York in 1981 it follows straight businessman Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac) as he tries to build his heating oil company up amid a decaying city plagued by crime and corruption. Very good drama that succeeds well without resorting to turning its protagonist into a compliant criminal like those around him. 8/10

The Sand Pebbles 1966

Starring Steve Mcqueen and Richard Attenborough this period war drama is set upon the fictional gunboat USS san pablo in 1920's China. It's a long film but thats part of its beauty it gives time to develop its characters It deals with a wide range of themes such a raciscm,nationalism,love,and the horrors of war. Its a beautifully shot film.

Exit Humanity (2011)
Thought i'd watch this as it sounded a bit different. I don't normally like zombie films but this was set in The American Civil war. What a crock of shit it turned out be be with the director throwing in some pathetic animation thinking hes Tarantino ffs! My mark? 0/10 as i gave up after 45 minutes as my eyes couldn't take any more neither could my brain

I pretty much always watch this each year. Very funny in places and a different take on the classic story. A solid 7/10.

Bought this on Blu Ray a few weeks ago and finally watched it last night. Really solid anthology horror starring Peter Cushin/Cushion/fuck knows, Christopher Lee, Donald Sutherland and Roy Castle. Five stories that are all different from one another. Recommended to anyone who likes anthology horror and that kinda stuff. 8/10

Jake Gyllenhaal is the world champion boxer who suffers a major fall from grace when his wife is killed in an altercation with a rival's crew. He loses his wife, his daughter is sent into care, his house is repossessed, he loses his titles and then his licence and ends up cleaning toilets at the slum gym of a once proud trainer (Forest Whitaker). Can he turn it all around and come out on top once again? what the fuck do you think? 7/10

Centurion (2010)
Not a bad film even though as a student of the Roman army i found so many historical mistakes. Luckily i just took the film for what it was meant to be just entertainment. Plenty of bloody scenes with a bit of humour thrown in as well. 7/10.

Iffy direction aside, Kinski gives a chilling yet pitying performance as the decrepit Nosferatu.

The Prisoner [1955]

Very good duologue film with Jack Hawkins and Alec Guinness as interrogator and priest face off when a fascist regime takes over an unnamed state. Excellent acting as always with these two and there was just the right amount of tension seeing if the priest would break under it all.

Our Man In Havana [1959]

Black comedy with Guinness again as a recruited spy taking over a post in Cuba who has to try and set up a network of spies but figures out he'd get more money for his spendthrift daughter if he concocts names out of thin air. Naturally as the film goes on and his lies come back to haunt him, he has to find a way of getting out of the mess.

Funny but not hilarious as I was hoping given the material and talent (Noel Coward as well) on display.
