It's A Wonderful Life [1946]

Seen it loads of times before, but the first time I saw it in colour which, although I'm not generally a fan of in old films that were shot in monochrome, did actually add to it. Cheesy, sentimental, dark and fun, and it stars the peerless James Stewart, how could you not like this!

10/10

Kung Fu Panda 2 [2011]

After watching the above film, I had a few drams and was in the mood of an animation, so chose this. Not quite as much fun as the original, though it did have one absolute laugh out loud moment which is all thats needed particularly when half-micked. :D

Night Of The Big Heat [1967]

Flicking over last night and caught the start of it so decided to watch as it had a great cast with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Patrick Allen on board. I shouldn't have bothered. It centres on a small island somewhere off the coast of England which is in the middle of a cold spell, but the island is suffering from tropical heat and is getting warmer and warmer. Christopher Lee is the scientist who wants to get to the bottom of it and he concludes it is the work of aliens who need the heat in order to invade! Cushing and Lee get killed off unnecessarily by the brilliant effects of a loud whining sound, blinding light and we find out when we see them they are slug-like souffles that move about 1mph! Oh and they all die when it starts to rain! Fuck me, the only redeeming feature was a very fine young lass in it who was sweating like the rest of them, had a heaving petite bosom and was half-clothed most of the film but even then there was not a peak either!

One to miss even for the Hammer Horror fans.

Poppled off to the cinema on my own last week to see Joy.

It's not great. But Jennifer Lawrence is in it, so.

Pale Rider (1985)
Hadn't seen this since it came out, a decent western well worth a watch. One thing in the film made me laugh which i didn't notice before, when the girl's dog is killed early on she picks up a dog that is stiff and obviously stuffed  7/10.

I found The Hateful Eight to be a bit dull to be honest. Tarantino going through the motions, and it takes it's time too. I would definitely recommend The Revenant over it if you're trying to choose between the two.

Creed is pish, Hateful Eight is good, if a little drawn out. The Revenant is definitely the best of the recently leaked films.

Fancied a bit of Alan Rickman last night. Had watched Die Hard recently and wasn't up for any specific Harry Potter movie in particular but then I remembered that I had this gem in my DVD collection somewhere.

First time for years I've watched it but it's still as amusing. Excellent feel good parody.

Maidentrip [2013]

Documentary about a 14 year old girl wanting to sail solo around the world, and after a lengthy court battle since she is regarded as too young to take on such an endeavour she is eventually allowed to. What an inspiring lass she is, its people like her that are the best of mankind.

Got to get myself a boat one of these days.

On my Czech films list.

Pelisky - or in English cosy Dens I believe its called.

Film which was made in 1999 covering a key period in Czech history, it covers 2 families that live one above other in prague, one father who is very against communist views and one who is pretty for it. set at a time in 1967 when rules were relaxed abit and people had more freedom of speech it follows their time for 6-7 months before a point in 1968 when the Soviets invaded to re-ignite their strict regime. (true story)

its a political film told with moments of comedy which shows all the conflicts in views between fathers and families and kids growing up in eras of political pressure but ends on a sad note when soviets invade and ruin all their lives regardless of views, nationalists have their freedom hopes destroyed and communist supporters feel betrayed as they have been invaded.

interesting film, but was very helpful to get history lesson during it, hard for others to understand.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), a work based on one of my favorite books so when I watched it I had the impression of it being very previous, I mean, with many skipped details but as there wasn’t the possibility of doing a movie with at least 8 hours of duration…
Considering it the facts presented on the movie were loyal to the story. Some moments however express exaggeration in attempt to bring up the horror, what turn them in a certain form almost comic. And the visual effects from 90’s can be old-fashioned compared to topicality’s but for the time it was pretty well done.
The choice of the parts involved with the movie also was narrowly whimsical with a bright cast containing Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu Reeves and the pretty Winona Ryder and direction of Coppola. My rate to it is 8.5/10.

Absolute Power (1997)
A cast of Clint Eastwood,Gene Hackman and Ed Harris in a political thriller sounds good doesn't it but it was poorly done and predictable, can't believe i stayed with it until the end :ffs: 4/10.
