The Big Short 9/10

Considering I was dragged to the cinema at 3pm on a Saturday, I really enjoyed it. An entertaining, accessible yet strong take on the housing market collapse.

Blue Collar (1978)

Starring Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel & Yaphet Kotto it tells the story of three friends working in a car factory in the city of detroit in 1977 suffering from low wages ill treatement from their employers and their own union who are just as corrupt as the man. It really captures the essence of that era perfectly and shows the struggles of the working class and how hopeless they feel about life.

Its not a film for everyone but a hidden masterpiece in my opinion, considering I love that decade in American history i might be a little biased but overall highly recomended

Just watched this and thought it was really good. Nice blend of comedy and drama based upon an interesting subject. 8/10

Straight Outta Compton (2015)
Loved it, shed a tear or two at the end I will admit. I'm not a massive fan of musician biopics, they always seem rushed when covering the history of musical icons, this one not so much though, maybe down to the fact N.W.A was quite short lived. Banging soundtrack, obviously. 9/10

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Another one I enjoyed. Cavill and Hammer were great and Alicia Vikander is fast becoming my favourite actress at the moment. 8/10

Absolutely loved it. One of my favorite movies of this year as well. Christian Bale and Steve Carell are excellent in it. The movie managed to scare me and make me laugh at the same time.

Had a marathon of few horror movies called classic after enjoying a lot Psycho (1960) and:

Hellraiser (1987): One of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Just forget about the sequels. 9.5/10.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): Despite some good scenes to laugh, probably proposital to bring Freddy some sarcasm, in general, it's a really good movie. 8.9/10.
The Exorcist (1973): It's surely a masterpiece of horror. 9/10.
The Shining (1980): I know that will be very unpopular but I don't like it at all. I think there are interesting things about this movie as the 'shining' kid and Jack Nicholson's performance but in a whole it's not a movie that I would spend 2 hours watching again. 6/10.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974): It can be easily compared to the trash movies of escapism out there except for not appealing to nudity and related stuff. I have to say I prefer so much the remake of 2003 than this. 3.5/10.
Poltergeist (1982): How this got so famous and called a classic of the genre is beyond me. For me it was disappointing and completely bad until the last minute. I'll give 3 points just because the lady that looks like an oompa loompa entertained me. 3/10.

Dinosaur 13.
Won an Oscar I think for a film showcasing Science and Technology. It's all about the story of the discovery of the T-Rex Sue, the biggest Dinosaur fossil discovery of all time. Great film/doco, worth a watch. 8/10.

Hellraiser 2 is bad but in a great way, the rest are drivel. Shame as they had a lot of promise.

Disagree with Voltage on Poltergeist and The Shining though, two brilliant films.

You watch a horror Marathon and didn't even bother with the enjoyment of Friday 13th part 3 and 4.

its the same old story and deaths don't look as good thesedays, but always good for a laugh and they make the victims so stupid or horrible you sort've enjoy the deaths.

Spy (2015)

Not bad. Funny enough to work as a comedy and actiony enough to work as an action film. Jason Statham parodies himself well, but there seems to be a lot of British people working in the CIA for some reason.

The Natural [1984]

Robert Redford stars as a preternaturally gifted baseball player who gets his shot at the majors in middle age after getting shot when he was younger and about to break onto the scene. Good support cast though Robert Duvall and Glenn Close get next to nothing to do, though Kim Basinger was so damn hot back then.

Decent enough but not outstanding.

3 work colleagues go to an ATM in the middle of the night, and when they attempt to leave, they notice a stranger waiting outside the booth. They figure out methods of escaping, but they remain trapped.

It wasn't a terrible film, but it was fairly underwhelming.

Supernatural baseball nonsense, but bloody good fun. Seen it loads of times but caught it while flicking through on Film4 last night.

It's about the Boston Globe's reporting into the Boston Catholic Church child sex abuse scandal. It's very good. 8.5/10.

I watched Deadpool yesterday.

T'was good. Which is to say I was a little underwhelmed, because I wanted it to be great. The opening credits are actually superb, pointing out all of the super hero movie cliches present in the film... but it's one thing to poke fun at these cliches and another to poke fun at them and then just go ahead and do them all anyway. There is definitely an element of "super hero movie fatigue" about Deadpool.

However... that doesn't stop it from still being a lot of fun. Ryan Reynolds fucking owns the role. He just doesn't shut up throughout the entire movie, which is just the way it should be. In fact, I'm sure I'll have to give the movie a second watch just to get all of the jokes because at the rate they're spewing out of his mouth I'm sure I missed some. Speaking of the humour, there wasn't really that much that had me really laughing out loud, but it did enough to keep a grin on my face throughout which I guess is enough. The humour isn't exactly smart or subtle, but then again, I don't think it's supposed to be with Deadpool. Wiener and fart jokes, ahoy.

The action is shot really well though. In fact, it was probably one of the best things about the movie. I know the director has nothing else on his CV besides shorts and making opening credits for the likes of Thor: TDW, but I can see him getting more action movies based on the great job he did on the fights in Deadpool.

Overall though, I'm just glad that Deadpool has finally made it to the big screen. Well overdue and I'm itching to see more of him on screen. If he's put together with a better story/plot next time, a Deadpool movie really could be great.

A beautiful and quirky Icelandic film about two brothers who haven't spoken for 40 years but farm next door to each other. Follows their traditional working life until disaster arrives in form of a contagious sheep disease. Faced with the mandatory slaughter of their flocks everything changes. A touching and tough film but not for everyone.

That does look really good. I have got Of Horses And Men there also which got a good review a while back which I believe is quite similar in its approach.

Deadpool 10/10 for how entertained I was. It's extremely funny and has a lot of great action scenes. Ryan Reynolds was born to play the role. There is an after credits scene if you would like to stick around to watch it.

Yeah I heard about that film as well and hearing it was good. Haven't looked it out though as I was fearful of any maltreatment of the animals in the film and that is something I cannot watch.
