Deepwater Horizon - 8/10. I really enjoyed this film. It is based on the BP oil spill and the fuck ups that lead to it.

Gets a lot of stick but I like it, the CGI is shit but there's not that much wrong with it. 7/10

District 9

Alien: Covenant.

It was alright and a solid addition to the Alien franchise but....

The whole David killing the Engineers scene was annoying as hell, Prometheus left so many unanswered questions about them, ones that I hoped would get answered here but it just left more questions about them. Who were they? Why did David decide to kill them? Why did he kill Shaw?
The ending was obvious but how did David switch with Walter? A flashback of how he got the better of Walter when he's revealed himself would have been nice.

An astonishing film based on the heroics of army medic Desmond Doss in the war against Japan made even more so as it's based on a true story. The battle scenes were grim but superbly done and the acting of Andrew Garfield as Doss was a masterpiece. Don't even have to think about this for a second i'll give it 10/10.

Always laughed out loud every time he spat on the dog.
Yep, he never looked like missing! still trying to find an online link to the 1986 film "Red headed stranger" with Willie Nelson & Morgan Fairchild.

I watched Superman (like, the original) a few months back and it was alright, but only just got around to seeing Superman II tonight. I think that I've seen bits of the films before (possibly the entire things, I don't remember) but this has to be the first time I've properly seen them start to finish for at least 15-20 years at the very least.

It's fine and all again, if a little dated now, but really, do the dudes who made these films actually know anything about Superman, specifically, about what powers he has/what he can do ect? Like, what in the fuck was throwing that Superman logo at that dude all about? He's never done that shit, I'm sure of it. As well as making clones of himself. I'm hardly a Superman expert or anything (Cas you're our DC fanboy here, help me out) but I'm sure they just pulled that shit out of their asses.

Could not agree more. I was about to post a review giving it a 10. If it wasn't based on a true story you would think it is massively far fetched seeing all the work he got through.

If you love a war film then watch this film.

No idea what the logo chucking thingy was about. Absolutely fucking bizzare.

In my life there aren't many films i'd give top marks but the battle scenes in Hacksaw were the best i've seen in a film even more so than Saving Private Ryan which looks tame compared to Hacksaw Ridge.

Night and the City (1950)

London-set film noir about a small-time hustler, Harry Fabian, dabbling in the wrestling promotion business: the latest in a line of get-rich-quick schemes he has thrown himself into. A local wrestling promoter doesn't take kindly to Fabian's encroachment on his territory and trouble ensues.

Le Weekend. Last night. Not the greatest of films but Jim Broadbent is just such a star. For some reason, for much of the film he bore a striking resemblance to Jeremy Corbyn. Although more focussed.

Jim Broadbent is a worse actor the Orlando Bloom, could never stand either!

Watched God's Little Acre last night and couldn't focus on the story for some reason after these images stuck in my mind...

Fantastic Mr Fox (2009)

Had my nieces (5 & 7) staying with my girlfriend and I over the weekend and they insisted on watching this when we scrawled through netflix. I read the book when I was a kid but didn't know about the film. I thought it was brilliant. Both the script and the animation are first class and loved the cast. Gambon and Clooney in particular stood out.

Really liked Grand Budapest Hotel so definitely going to make an effort to watch more Wes Anderson films.

I like a good sci-film but alas this wasn't one,it was all over the place and the aliens were ridiculous but at least Mila Kunis was in it which made it more watchable :)

On Dangerous Ground (1952)

Robert Ryan plays a police officer consumed by the unrelenting violence of his inner-city beat. After another unwarranted violent outburst he is removed from his post and sent to a snowy mountain town to help solve a murder case and, hopefully, find a way to keep his personal demons at bay in the process.

Disagree about Clooney being awful, but The Perfect Storm is an excellent film and always worth a watch seeing the events unfold.

Eric Cantona? :D ( I've never seen him acting so far (ok, on the football field) but if he's the poor man's Vinnie Jones (as actor) it will be worth to look

Ah, Eva Green  . I am convinced....must watch. And Mats Mikkelsen is always worth to watch. So thanks for mentioning the movie, mowgli.

No problem mate, alas Eva Green doesn't shed her clothes or i'd have marked it higher :) As for Cantona he makes Jones look worthy of an oscar.
