I fancy us, MK and Forest Green for the autos with Exeter through the play offs.

I'd probably put Mansfield over you. FGR could be a good shout especially if they get Doidge back with this transfer embargo on the go at Bolton.

Huge transfer window coming up for a lot of clubs, ourselves included (lots of comings and goings expected).

Lincoln MK and Bury the best 3 sides by a distance. FGR to win the playoffs. Or Colchester if they can regain some form.

Could be all about the transfer window. MK might struggle if they don't replace Healy.
Still think we will get to the playoffs and I fancy us against anyone.

Tbh Carlisle are the first team I’ve seen this season which have been better than us on the day.

Given how close the league is it’s clearly daft to suggest anyone’s certainly going up or much better than the others.

I fancied us to be outsider, late season play off pushers, but given the cup run, the manager situation, and losing surridge, I thing it might be a leap too far.

It bodes well for a good summer, but with the farcical goings on at BP anything is possible

Big boost for FGR to get Doidge back. If his confidence hasn't been too badly knocked by what happened at Bolton you'd have to include them in the auto contenders now surely.

If anything, out of all the teams in this league we are the least reliant on a single player scoring goals. We still have Agard and Aneke, who have scored 22 league goals between them this season. Healey is a good player, but I doubt we will struggle without him (he scored 8 goals and managed one assist before leaving).

Other sides in the top half that are far more reliant on one player - Exeter and Stockley, Tranmere and Norwood, Mansfield and Tyler Walker etc.

I imagine he'll kick on back at FGR now. Vince has said the right sort of things on twitter about the situation and you imagine he looks after his players quite well. Just hope Doidge hasn't developed too much of a taste for meat and potato pies from Bolton market.

Out of pure superstition I shall refrain from posting on this thread as though we're part of it, and will instead continue to offer my insight into a promotion race we're not involved in.

There's a team who aren't part of this promotion race, from Cumbria, who haven't been particularly reliant on any one scorer with three players on 8 goals, and 7 with more than 4 goals a-piece.

We're not reliant on anyone either.

Akinde's on 11, Anderson on 5 or 6 then we have a raft of players on 3 and 4. Just about everyone who's played a handful of games has scored for us this season.

For example, every outfield player who started against Everton had scored and likewise in our last league game (and the 3 subs who came on).

And for Mansfield - walker has 16, but Hamilton has 7, rose 5, elsnik 4, Bishop, Khan, Mellis Preston 3.

The reason mansfield are up there isn't due to how many we score, it's how few we concede (even after the 3 we conceded on Saturday)

If you can continue that consistency, you will be top 3 at season end. Ironically, your defence looked your weakest part of the team at SB in November (IMO) but, going forward, you had real threat and pace.

The transfer window, for us and most clubs around the top 10 in EFL 2, won't just be around who we bring in- it is just as important to keep hold of what we have already got. Seen some loan recalls already coming in and no doubt some more to follow.

MK, Lincoln and Mansfield - top 3 in that order.

FGR (4th place) and Bury (5th) my favs to definitely make the play offs, and possibly push the top 3 all the way. Then two out of Oldham, Col U and Exeter. Tranmere and Carlisle to just miss out, the former due to their poor away record, and the latter for being...well, Carlisle ;)

Do you reckon? I thought that game was one of our backs 3’s best performance as a team, I was intoxicated though so may not remember it correctly!

My prediction for top 3 right now would be MK, Lincoln then us but I’ll revisit it at the end of this month which is a big month and once signings are done and dusted.

would be three of those five to miss out (though I can only assume you included us accidentally as per my above comments, we aren't part of this thread)

Colchester look to be enduring something of a hiccup; although from the way they played at Brunton Park a few weeks ago, and the fact they haven't won since it could be more than a hiccup. They were scoring for fun earlier in the season and those have dried up, they could be losing Szmodics, I think they may fall away.

How about you piss off back to the relegation thread Vanni where you will always belong.

We're a force to be reckoned with now mate.

Yes of course you aren't reliant on one striker which is why you bid for Stockley (who we did quite well without last time out, imagine winning with no strikers...)

It may be we saw the same game from different perspectives.

Either way, Flitcroft is doing a good job and I wasn't expecting that, based on the finish at the end of last season.

However, there are so many clubs who can turn you over in this league, a blip in form can soon see a team drop quickly.

Going to be a good run in to the end of the season.

We most likely bid for Stockley as all 3 of our other senior strikers are out of contract in the summer (Aneke, Agard and Sow), in addition to Healey going back this month, and because for £750k he would have been a bit of a bargain/good investment.

Rumour that Aneke is moving on in the summer (if not this window), as will Sow. Both easily our highest earners probably on around £7k+ per week, so that will free up a good amount of money in the summer.

Good to know we have £750k kicking about if needed though for the right player too.

You mean they don't want to stay? Why not, given you're such a massive club..

Actually, Sow is too injury prone, not likely to have a new contract offer as he's our biggest earner...and Aneke wants to play in the Championship (apparently) after 3 seasons with us. Don't blame him as he's far too good for L1 and L2. Players seem to like it here believe it or not!

We won't be losing Szmodics, but it wouldn't be a problem if we did.

Regardless, we'll still probably fall away as we do every year!

This window is huge for us. If Lemsagem stumps up the cash - which we've earned enough from our cup run - and bring in 2 ST and 1 CB, and bring back Jordan Lyden, I reckon we have a very good chance at the top 7.

Losing Surridge & Lyden is a big blow though for sure.
