Basically despite all these predictions and that bollocks it’s basically a toss of a coin between the 4 of us.

Whichever league we're in the other imponderable is how we'd manage without Norwood. Mellon has done well recruiting defenders and midfielders, but the forwards he's brought in haven't made much impact or quickly fallen out of favour.
It's a bit like us without Stockley. We've gone from automatic hopefuls to playoff possibles

We’d be fine in league one.

This season has cleared a chunk of the debt we were landed with by running our academy without central funding and no parachute payments that clubs now receive. I believe we received 300k for one year as opposed to the 1.2m now split over 2 years.

Regardless of division we will have a higher budget for next season and whilst that’s no guarantee of success, the improved form since January signings show it’s a good thing for us.

Much like league two, there’s a lot of stagnated clubs in league one, clubs such as ourselves and Lincoln that would command top half attendances and forward momentum would likely have positive first seasons in league one.

I had no Lincoln were getting 8-9k crowds, when did that happen??

they were averaging about 4k last time they were in this league weren't they? I know they're going well, but doubling their crowds is surprising.

Norwood reportedly has a groin injury.

Bowing out of this thread, see you next year, league 2!

And the rest. They nearly dipped below a 2000 average just a few years back, its quite incredible to have literally quadrupled their average attendance.

We only just survived in our first season in League One. Be careful, it's not as easy as it looks. Good fun though.

About 3 years ago when we started winning more than we lost and finished in the top half of a league for the first time in 9 years.

Not in L2, though, which is what SF's referring to.

Usual L2 averages from our last stint were between circa 3.5k (relegation season) and 5.5k (PO season) and around a 4.5k average so it's more of a double than treble or quadruple on a like for like basis.

Yeah, not a club i'd associate with success, shows potential though.

Championship is a realistic aim.

Absolutely, we have been starved of success since I have been going, think I have only seen two promotions. This is another reason why the crowds have gone through the roof, people do like supporting a winning side!

Think we need a new ground or to significantly increase capacity, neither of which is going to happen soon. I'm sure the Cowleys will give it a good go, and we might manage to get up there, but I'd be surprised if we lasted long once we got there. Worlds away from L1 even.

I've fully given up on this season and referring to us as 'promotion contenders'

However, I've noted with interest that Exeter's home game with Crawley kicks off at 1pm.

If Exeter win that, then we have four games to make up seven points, realistically eight given goal difference (and hope Newport and Oldham don't win their games in hand). In that case it really will be all over bar the shouting, before we even play Lincoln.

Should we then go and lose to Lincoln then we'd have to win all three remaining games and hope Exeter lose all three of theirs, but even a win sees us needing to win two, and even if Exeter only draw then we have to make up six points which is still a tall order.

However should Exeter lose, then we'll only have to make up five points and have the opportunity to make that two should we beat Lincoln, while the rest of our run in looks somewhat favourable (though still hoping for slips from Newport and Oldham).

The knowledge of which of these scenarios we're in before we kick off against Lincoln could have a massive effect on our performance. Knowing that a win could give us, albeit slight, a chance at promotion could get something out of us.

Last Easter ended our challenge with losses to Accrington and Luton - hopefully this Easter is kinder to us.

Gain 4/6 points and we’d be halfway there, gain less than 3 and we could be fucked

It’s been our attack which has cost us.

We’ve the joint best defensive record in the football league, we just ended up drawing with sides, especially those lower down where we should have won but didn’t take chances.

I can’t really say any of the top teams have looked better than us - our record against the top 7 etc is pretty decent.

Lincoln both times draws were very even games, we were lucky to get a point at bury despite their last minute goal but dominated them at home and MK were pretty even with us at our game at field mill.

As for the rest - tranmere draw away was a fair result but one of our easier home games of the season - FG draw away but win at home, and Exeter we’re probably the best I’ve seen at home but we won 4-1 away.

If only our record against the crap sides was better - hello Morecambe today - eek!

We are atrocious. Wait until 2-0 down to start playing. Sometimes I despair.

Don’t start playing now, ffs!

Cat right amongst the pigeons that result, Newport win their game in hand too it could get interesting.

Looks on stats as though Crawley have been battered but scored all three efforts they’ve had.

You're welcome.
Anyone want us to beat Carlisle and Tranmere as well?

Well it's gone spectacularly wrong for us today. Thanks Lincoln FFS. Just waiting for a Swindon winner to top things off.
