For us to get in the play offs I’d guess we need around 22 or 23 points from our final 4 games.
Difficult, but I’m not giving up yet.

By my fag packet reckoning, Grimsby are the first and so far only club who mathematically can neither get promoted or relegated. Congrats on that milestone of mediocrity!

Be a shame if you go up. That’s 6 points we’ll actually have to fight for next season!

I've got Bury 82, MK, 81, Tranmere 81, Mansfield 80.

GD's are around the same bar Tranmere.

Not sure we’ll get 82 but I think that might be enough for top 3. This Friday is massive, but such a tough place to go. Reckon Mansfield are favourites at the minute.

This is the weakest League 2 has been in the last 5 seasons or so. Shame we sold Watkins, Storey, Stockley and Wheeler. Would have absolutely smashed the league with those 4. Think whichever teams go up will struggle next year more than teams have done in previous years.

That was said last season as well.

Luton and Coventry have done well enough. Was always going to be a struggle for Accrington and Wycombe but I guess they’ll both survive.

Lincoln will be OK next season - not up to the Luton level, but comfortable enough. MK likewise if they get up.

The other 2, though, will be a different story. Flitcroft won’t handle L1 despite generous funding. Bury are just plain fucked. FGR and Exeter would both struggle.

Tranmere are a strange one, for me. Have no idea how they would do if they went up.

People said this 2 years ago in national league.

We’d be backed if we went up no problems about that. Whether flitcroft would be Upto it would remain to be seen.

I didn’t expect him to be here with us 3rd at this stage of the season despite the funds and players we’ve currently got - failure to be promoted would be a massive and possibly irreparable blog on his record.

Yep saw this when we both got over 90 points down there.

The conference has been relatively weak for the last few seasons - certianly so than 4/5 years ago - however that’s not necessarily the reason for sides going up doing well, it’s more that the bottom of league 2 has a bottleneck of crap sides which in reality aren’t much better than the bog standard conference side

And people were saying how strong it is this year, and yet all the top teams seem to be falling over each other not to go up!

Last year looked pretty weak in general though.

Sutton, boreham wood etc, macc winning the league when looking like going back down - not that it’s tranmeres fault it was poor, to win that playoff against boreham wood (whoever they are) when down to 10 after 2 mins as an extraordinary effort

47 seconds, we couldn't even make it to the minute mark with 11 on the pitch

Whichever league we're in the other imponderable is how we'd manage without Norwood. Mellon has done well recruiting defenders and midfielders, but the forwards he's brought in haven't made much impact or quickly fallen out of favour.
