I fucking love the play offs, and as the weeks near I am going to treat you all to my favourite end of season moments, beginning with some great commentary from Martin Tyler:

AUSTIN GOING IN!

I love the playoffs (Hartlepool, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United) and I hate them too (Hull, Cardiff, Brighton, Brentford , Walsall).

If we end up in them this year, we arent going to win them. Top two is a must!

Were not far off being serious in here. If Ajose and Ness carry on with the form they are showing, we might sneak in.

I'm still more worried about relegation, but never say never.

some proper tinpot shite in here convincing themselves they've got a shot. There's one place available for 'the rest of us' and it'll probably be Bradford. Or potentially Posh if they sack Ferguson and get their shit together.
Hmmmmm...

8 goals and none conceded in 2. I think we'll finish 6th, sadly I can't see us going up this season.

That's why this division is weird innit, obviously saw you not long ago at your place and you were fucking hopeless. But it seems to count for nothing in this division, teams are just going through good patches and bad patches constantly. I genuinely think it's pointless looking at the table at this point because of how close it is and it'll likely remain this close up until the end with the team who nicks 6th being the team who strings together the most wins in the final month.

I bloody hope this doesn't happen.

With the form we are in we have a chance at the play offs but would be pleasantly surprised if we actually make them

I'd be absolutely delighted with a top 10 finish, play-offs shouldn't be on our radar. Yet.

I swear everyone wins a couple of games and they're on here haha. No doubt if we sneak some shithousing 1-0 on Tuesday some Notts fans will be like '2 points off!' when in reality we'll never string together enough good attacking performances to do owt.

I agree, but to be fair we have far more place in this thread than the relegation one as it stands, as our form has been incredible of late. Beaten some good sides too.

Crazy to think we are only four points off these yet have been awful for a month before today. We won't make them but anyone from 16th upwards has a chance if they can hit some form.

from 28th October to 28th January we won only 2 league games yet were never out of play-off contention, think we were about 4points outside at most. Its ridiculous.

The Race for 6th Place

Current Situation:

6. Doncaster (30) 45
_____________________
7. Oldham (30) 43
8. Chesterfield (31) 42
9. Bradford (28) 41
10. Peterborough (31) 41
11. Fleetwood (31) 41
12. Gillingham (31) 41
13. Walsall (30) 40
14. Scunthorpe (29) 40

Fixtures up until Tuesday 10th March (Red = Top 5, Blue = Fellow Chasers)

Doncaster:
Port Vale (A)
Bristol City (H)
Colchester (H)
Preston (A)
Gillingham (A)

Looks to be a tricky little run of games for Donny. Max 7pts?

Oldham:

Leyton Orient (A)
Preston (H)
Port Vale (A)
Yeovil (A)

Kind run on paper for us, but depends if LJ is still here. I'd "expect" 9pts here.

Chesterfield:

Rochdale (A)
Fleetwood (H)
MK Dons (A)

Not easy for an out of form side. Max 4pts?

Bradford:

Leyton Orient (A)
Walsall (H)
Swindon (A)
Peterborough (A)
Crawley (H)
Coventry (A)

Hectic schedule coming up, along with cup games. Minimum 9pts?

Peterborough:
MK Dons (A)
Bradford (H)
Sheff United (A)
Leyton Orient (H)

We could be saying any sniff of the playoffs is over after this. Max 4pts?

Fleetwood:
Notts County (H)
Chesterfield (A)
Scunthorpe (H)

Sheff United (A)

Tricky run. Minimum 4pts?

Walsall:
Bradford (A)
Preston (A)
Leyton Orient (H)
Barnsley (A)

Good away form so difficult to predict, but would say minimum 5pts.

Scunthorpe:
Preston (A)
Barnsley (H)
Yeovil (H)
Fleetwood (A)
Crewe (A)

Max 8pts?
Apologies to those below Scunthorpe, but I couldn’t be arsed doing any more. Rochdale are probably the only side I should have included in this.

This 'race for 6th' is even shitter than 2011/12 season. Although I still reckon we'd have gone up if we finished 6th - we were so much better than Carlisle and Stevenage and every team in the play-offs that year were garbage. Judgey and Lloyd Sam would've lit up Wembley.

Anyway, it's amusing to see a situation where the team getting 6th will be so much worse than the top 5.

I know we've played more than most, but ignoring our fixtures is a bit much!

Christ, we need to be looking over our shoulders to the drop zone with those fixtures coming up.

Ha ha. Sorry about that. Feel free to reply to the post and add them.

Our next 5:

Yeovil A - Win
Barnsley H - Win
Swindon A - Lose
Doncaster H - Draw
Bristol City - Lose

Couple of toughies later on, which means that we need to pick up maximum points from the first two to have any chance of keeping in the race.

Big game for Bradford tonight. Wonder if Orient's win on Saturday will spur them into positive action tonight at home?

Us and huddersfield wasnt it that year and i can assure you we were far from garbage that year we got over 90 points and scored about 90 goals. And absolutely battered you at your place
