After a poor second half to the season which has seen us drop form playoff hopefuls to the bottom half of the table Alan Lord has resigned from the managerial post. He will take up the "director of football" role where he will mainly have the responsibility of building the foundations of the club's development structure, as well as running the profootball academy, in association with SCFC
I have supported Lord for the majority of his tenure but the results and performance haven't been good enough since the turn of the year. The midfield has got weaker as the season has progressed, while we have a decent set of strikers they are all far to similar and we lack pace and power up top just as we do throughout the rest of the team. I'm glad we have kept Lord on in a role that he is more suited to as he has been a fantastic servant to the club and will prosper in his new role without a doubt.
Plenty of potential options to takeover as the new manager, which makes a pleasant change from when we usually find ourselves in this situation. Gary Lowe is out of contract at Hyde, Kevin Wilson is leaving Ilkeston and Flitcroft is another out of contract at Chorley, though we would obviously have to see whether they get promoted. Liam Watson has only recently joined Stalybridge but with Conference North promotions with two seperate clubs on his C.V he has to be an option surely and of course a big section of the fans want Gannon back for round three.
