On a personal note, it was so nice to see lester look a lonely, dejected figure in the touch line and realise that his gamble failed.

He always said how he never lost to Mansfield

Well jack, you cocky c***, you just led your beloved Chesterfield down to the conference. I hope you have a nice Saturday evening

We did warn you how bad we were.

For me we were woeful but the whole place was dejected, wasn’t as spicy as it usually is thanks to the whole feeling around the club and the lower than normal crowd. Thought the atmosphere was fairly subdued from both sides for the most part and we are now definitely down. Yesterday was our last roll
Of the dice and Lester got it all wrong again with his selections and tactics

I fear the worst is yet to come for us, no way we can take our budget, debt and current board into NL and get out of it without some serious financial difficulties. My fear is the club being put into admin by Allen and us not being allowed into the conference.

Yesterday was definitely the last time we will see 8k in the ground for a while, and even that was a disappointing but understandable turn out

You were pretty bad but we weren't exactly brilliant. On that performance I still can't see that we would make the play-offs or stand any chance of winning them. I still think we need a new manager for next season.

Agree with Stringy.

Here’s the match winning goal from a few angles for you Spireites.

Personally I’d prefer for Mr Flitcroft to hang around for a bit, he must be incredibly relieved to finally win , if Chesterfield had won do you think he have been sacked or not?

Ahhh well, unlucky Chesterfield, but allowing that spineless Bolton loving joke to win a derby game means you deserve to go down.
Alas this will probably be Bury next season so I should not really be saying you deserve anything.
Hope things get sorted for you.

Scenes looked pretty epic in the away end after the goal. I have totally forgotten what a derby victory feels like so can only guess the feel and buzz of the away end after that winner.

Thankfully with the rivals we have, were almost the other way, we've almost forgotten what it's like to lose a derby.

Noticeable lack of Spireites contributed to this thread after the result. Shame.

Yeah Salford we played them in the FA Cup it was TV, also played Havant & Waterlooville , Kettering and quite a few others. You know the one off, knock out cup competition.

How many times have you played the mighty Ebbsfleet ? 4? 6? 8? Double figures?

Yes but we dont know where salford is but you can help them with that one ive just got this feeling were gonna meet again this season

How would it be possible to meet again in a season when we've played each other twice and there are no other cups?

Sorry, this is a Mansfield and Chesterfield thread - so assumed it would be about us and them. You wouldn't want to be accused of hijacking it, would you?

You do know what the word hypocrite means don’t you Adam? I mean seeing as you historically post on threads here, there and everywhere! Many nothing to do with Mansfield#owngoal

Just found it amusing you guys were taking the piss about Chesterfield playing some of the Non League heavyweights with your non league recent past and everything :brill:

But a picture of a man bending over on your profile isn't odd?

Not if you like American Sport, NFL, or are a big fan of Hall of Fame Wide Receivers and their infamous celebrations, then no.

Come on man it’s Randy Moss !

Although tbf Mr Bean was immensely popular to many :dk: just not my sort of humour tbh or anyone I want to know

Do you not class Doncaster as a rival, if you do did they not do a good number on you last season?
I often feel envious of your part of the world with all the rivalries and derbies.
Our historical rivals Bolton have been streets ahead of us for yonks. And baring odd cup games and the odd season like 98/99 & 16/17, the only regular rival we have had since I started going to Bury in 1993 is Rochdale. And believe me, that fixture gets boring when you have barely mustered a shot on goal against them in over eight years.
Stockport and Oldham have offered decent fixtures, but never over a sustained period. And we often seemed to play them at shite times so that would often effect the crowd, atmosphere and the game itself. That said the fixture this season at Gigg Lane with Oldham was a hotly contested affair, it would be great to see it continue.

I have often concluded that whilst Chesterfield and then Notts County are the main derbies, there is also rivalry with Doncaster, Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Rotherham amongst others. Am I missing anyone? :hypo:

Anyways sorry for taking over your thread with my ramblings.

Most of the Yorkshire lot despise Mansfield but it’s not really mutual.

As conker said, Yorkshire hate Mansfield as they lost over the pits. Don't class Doncaster as a rival, though Rotherham certainly were when I started, but we've taken different trajectories over the last decade.

Chesterfield would be the main one, then historically Rotherham and Lincoln, county since they became crap and fell to their true position and possibly at a push Grimsby.
