So would it be fair to say then a decent side would have finished us off in the first half when you were on top? Especially considering you looked like scoring everytime you went forward?
Did they? Not how I remember it. Thought first half they were better but don't think they had chances to 'finish us off'

Don't think we had a shot on target bar the goal in the first half. Recall Mellis and Sterling-James both having ago from outside the box but other than that not much else.

We had the majorirt of the first half IMO without creating a deal and Chesterfield were certianly the better side in the second half but again other than the goal I can only recall two efforts from outside the box from Dennis.

I'd of taken 4 points from Vale and Chesterfield going into those games so I am happy with it but too just not show up second half for a derby pisses me off. At least we salvaged something from it though.

On that showing I can't see Chesterfield going down anyway.

We've got that tough mentality though, which is pleasing.

Things like late goals when we've played badly is why we've only lost 4 out of 20 games

It's a tongue-in-cheek reference to the comparative size of the two clubs designed to provoke a response from the thin skinned, 'dear'.

Clearly works, too...

Ah.

Just given your previous posts I just assumed it was a mis-spelling.

Not exactly a shot but there was also the ball across the box that Dennis was inches from tapping in.

We had the exact same moment with Danny Rose in the first half, which I’ll admit even I forgot about.

Probably the best way to evaluate the game was that Chesterfield would have taken a point before the game and we were happy (in context) to take the point at the end of the game.

If we're at the stage where we can't provide our worst performance of the season and by some margin - and still draw with Chesterfield - it shows where we're both at right now.

I think both clubs will be happy to take the point, move on, keep the respective rins going.

We can focus on promotion chances and Chesterfield surviving

I wonder if there is any truth in the rumour we are targeting Dennis for January.

I'd like to respond.. has your chairman got that kind of money to bandy about?... however, it's more than likely Allen will sell sell sell on any bids we get for anyone!

If Chesterfield can get him to sign a new contract then they're onto a winner.

There could be a chance that under Lester Chesterfield can turn a corner and see what happens in January. All depends on Allen. Dennis is up for contract renewal in the summer, and I find it very hard to believe that Allen would turn down £100k (i'm not commenting on what peoples perceptions are of what he's worth).

And yes, our chairman does have that amount of money, and then more.

He's not, he signed a contract extension in the summer. He's here for the season after too. I think you're looking at £600k minimum, or there's no point in selling him. Especially if selling Dennis means we go down

Well, if that is the case (and I don't doubt you) then I can't see it happening.

It all depends on whether the new forward would be too similar to Danny Rose as well, we need a big lad upfront to head and control the ball. I didn't see anything in him Saturday to suggest he's better than Danny, so if he's too similar it wouldn't work anyway.

Wouldn't put it past your chairman to let him go for less than he should and pocket the money though

Oh, I wouldn't either. Some might say that's what's been happening for the last few years, as there's no other obvious place where the money has gone.

Tbh, i'd expect us to sign better.
Yeh don't think the second top scorer in the league is that good really all things considered. Rose is a better player imo looking at his stats this season

He impressed me to be fair but can't see us paying for him. No idea what Wednesday Dave values him at but anything over 350k and I'd be looking elsewhere. That said we signed Barker when he was 29 and Dennis is a year younger.

Can't see them selling to us though when there will be other interest.

I tend to agree. Can't see us paying the asking fee as he would be sat on the bench for most games so would be a waste of money.

He's going in the window though.

Wonder where Allen will locate the transfer funds? Nothing will go to Chesterfield and they'll replace him with a tree.

No denying we need a new forward in the summer, but evans will have someone far better than him lined up that's for sure.

I'm gonna ask a couple of questions and this thread's as good a vehicle as any other.

What happens if Mansfield don't go up? How long will Radford continue spending?

Y'see Mr Mid-Life Crisis blew several millions getting his club out the Conference - at which point we witnessed pretty much the same 'we're going up; you're going bust' gloating currently on display - only to slam the One Call wallet shut when the people of the area just didn't turn up. Of course for whatever reason he's decided to start splurging again; but are attendances really that much better? And how will even those turnouts hold up if there's no promotion this season? Or maybe next season? Mansfield certainly wouldn't be the first outfit to give it large yet finish flat on there arses (and yeah, before anyone says it the cap fits far too well...).

Honestly guys this isn't a taunt. I'm merely wondering how long the lottery win Staglets are currently enjoying is gonna last.

Radford is here for the long-term, he’s not going to go ‘big’ on the budget every season, but for example he’s currently building a £2m training complex(500k premier league grant) and has just submitted plans for a global hotel chain to build a hotel at the ground.

Attendances have been rising for a while now, it doesn’t happen overnight unless you get a new stadium or have a season like Lincoln did.

It’s a great time to be a stags fan, promotion or not this season.

What's a Staglet again?

Is that another name for our youth teams who are prospering across the board.

I think for Mansfield fans the future is bright.

The team is moving in the right direction, the attendances are, the link with the town is improving, the training facilities look better, the match day experience and revenue is through the roof. We've a chairman who loves us and is completely involved in Mansfield, he sees a successful business model.

Everything about Mansfield right now is on the up and rosy, it's great to see - hopefully we can pull a big team out in the fa cup should we get through against guiseley.

It's the hotel in Mansfield bit that amuses me.
