Think we can effectively welcome Cheltenham to mediocrity now.

No, it's far too early for that. We seem to get this far away from relegation and then decide we want to flirt with the drop a bit.

Fleetwood and Exeter looking the most relentlessly average at the mo - can they keep it up though to bag the ultimate prize?

19 points off the playoffs with 7 to go. We might (will) be officially eliminated from that after our next game on Friday. Now just to find a way to get mathematically safe and get ready for the open-top bus tour

Already booked our bus. Just focussing now on the "Mini League Two Class of 22 Promoted Team Trophy"
Vegans already eliminated but we've still got the Gas and yourselves on our tail

Got this in the bag, all we need is a 0 goal difference and we’ll have absolute mid-table perfection.

That does deserve some sort of bonus point in fairness.

Huge well done to Lincoln today as well at Wednesday. Not because it was at a tough place to go or anything like that but adding to that all important draws tiebreaker is a fine achievement.

18 points from relegation, 11 from the playoffs.
7 points in a week is 3 or 4 too many for us in this race, I make Fleetwood favourites now

Our 19th draw of the season, crazy!

Well we have 8 to go of which 5 are at home and we love a draw at home
Two more to equal our record of 2005/06 (also lots of home draws, as was the norm under KA!).

Norwich are the joint holders with 23 along with Exeter, Hartlepool and Cardiff but they did it in 42 games rather than 46 like the other sides.

I think I am right in saying that this weekend will see this trophy awarded. Unfortunately we won't claim it in the early kick off, I think Shrewsbury or Charlton can though

Kudos to MK, I would have been tempted to pull the trigger around Christmas but he's got a tune out of not really his squad. Having an actual centre midfield has helped no end. Hats off to him and let's hope we pick up a few more points and head into next season with a bit of momentum.

As far as I can see no one has won this. Us and Oxford can theoretically climb above Charlton on goal difference and they’re the highest placed team who can’t make the play offs.

The wait for the prestigious trophy goes on to Tuesday.

I’m really sad for Lincoln that they’ve been screwed by their fixture backlog - of any team in this division, I feel they’re the ones who’ve truly bent over backwards to bleed mediocrity from every pore, but football is a cruel mistress as we know, and the path to silverware is littered with obstacles.

Charlton have given it a good go with a record of 14-13-15 and GF/GA of 62-59!

That’s fair, but I always think a team with true commitment to the art of the draw specialist deserves recognition.

Oh completely. I’ve never seen a team enter into the spirit of the mid table cup quite so diligently as Lincoln have this season!

Charlton will likely confirm League 1 status on Tuesday but it’s probable they will be joined by a couple more sides - Shrewsbury and Lincoln look like their respective game in hand will still not be enough to reach the play offs and they’ll likely be safe too. And I can see Exeter, Fleetwood and possibly even Bristol Rovers achieving it on Tuesday too.

When we did this in League 2 a few years ago we determined the winner based on when results came in. It became ludicrously complicated but it killed some time during Covid.

We could try and help with this by beating Fleetwood by two clear goals on Tuesday evening...only issue here is that we don't look like scoring two goals in a game at the moment, having only managed a total of five in our last ten games.

It will definitely be decided on Tuesday, I think Shrews, Charlton, Lincoln, Fleetwood, us and possibly Rovers will all be safe then. Whats the tiebreaker- earliest whistle?

Earliest whistle is what it's been previously, and I think that's what it should be now.

No, disagree with that, it should be awarded on commitment to mediocrity, not just arbitrary things like first whistle - remember, that’s open to abuse by opposition clubs deliberately timewasting to deny people the glory of silverware.

To me, it should be awarded on:

1) Team that’s safe from relegation/can’t get promoted (obviously, but just so it’s clear)
2) finishes in either 12th or 13th
3) tiebreaker between 12th and 13th (if both sides are mathematically on the beach) is the team with GD closest to zero.
That is what sorts out the men from the boys.

Lincoln and Shrews may have fucked it by still having a fixture backlog. If Posh lose today, and Lincoln/Shrews win, then the latter two can still mathematically get promoted, however insanely unlikely that may be.

I'm calling this for Fleetwood.

13th place finish.

GD of +3 - so closer to zero than Shrewsbury's -5.

15 draws - vs Shrewsbury's 8.

True averageness is theirs.

Congratulations lads!
