Little doubt now as to who will be in control of Syria post war. Hopefully we can put pressure on Syria through targeted sanctions for Assad to release political prisoners.

Israel isn't dumb. It knows Saudi Arabia is an awful ally which thinks it can buy its way around international diplomacy and abandon allies at the drop of a hat. They also know Hezbollah is stronger than ever. Not going to be a war.

It can buy it's way around international diplomacy, that's exactly what it's been doing. Israel & Saudi's enemies are the same and that's why they've worked together in secret for decades. Ofc Israel isn't dumb, they're running the world.

Weird how the rebels keep gassing their own families instead of the soldiers attacking them isn't it. Maybe has something to do with the fact that victory whilst almost certain, is a long way off, and negotiations in Ghouta had come to a halt with Jaysh al-Islam refusing to accept Assad's terms.

Involving the British Armed Forces would have been an act of folly even with parliamentary consent, but not consulting parliament is unforgivable, especially when the polling data produced so far suggests that public support for UK involvement is ~20%.

The world is governed by idiots hellbent on having another Cold War and here we are folks, if there's any doubt we didn't have one before, we do now. Nice way to detract from flawed domestic policies getting in the way of things.

Can't allow Russia to get a foothold in the Middle East can we? Assad is on the verge of winning the war with Russian (and Iranian) support. So we strike them but I don't think it'll make much difference to the outcome.

My job takes me abroad every so often and I was doing some training in Egypt recently. There in Cairo are lots of Syrian refugees and business people who take advantage of the visa free policy the two countries have. Speaking to them, they'd rather have Assad in power and confirmed what I already knew. The rebels are fundamentalists which would cede control of the area to ISIS. None of them said that they love Assad or anything but they said culturally Syria is a progressive Islamic country that doesn't want to be governed by sharia law, under Assad that wouldn't happen. At least that's what the people I spoke to said. Just let countries have self-determination and if they fuck it up then it's on them isn't it.

there has been no proof assad was behind the alleged chem attacks- and they've just blown to smithereens what could have been cast iron evidence proving his guilt

May didn't seek consent from parliament because she's a weak PM who saw it as an opportunity to look decisive and strong. I'm wondering also how much her reliance on post Brexit trade deals with the US played a part in her decision. We know Trump is like a petulant child and if May refused to be an ally on the bombing he might spit the dummy out on trade deals, or at least that's how she might perceive it.
