Well after an even first half Cheltenham dominated the second. A stupid penalty given away for a handball no complaints from me his arm was above his head.

Oh well always wrote this game off, hopefully we'll bounce back on Saturday.

But Braintree really?

That Kiddy team should not go down. They were brilliant first half, with the black players (2 on the left and centre-mid, sorry I didn't catch their names) being the stand outs. Your defence looks solid, there was bite in the middle, the only thing lacking was a final ball. A world away from the team I saw us beat on Boxing Day. It was only the penalty that made your guys' heads drop and it was comfortable for us from there. My only concern is that you have too much to do.

As for us, we showed again tonight that we can win battles, and that's what tonight was, a proper battle. I thought the ref was quite good, tried to let a lot go with, I think, there not being a single booking. I was nervous about tonight, and at half-time even more so. The fact we come out a better team second half sums up our season. 4 points clear now, it's hard not to get carried away.

Tranmere away on Saturday will be tough. We owe them one for the defeat in September, but we've equalled our unbeaten league record tonight (20 games) and the last time we did that our run was book-ended by defeats to Telford. I love an omen, and might actually bet on Tranmere to beat us.

What a shame to see some play-off chasers drop points just as our club is in meltdown. Oh well, looking forward to our season officially ending later this month and then preparing for our Kidderminster-style departure from the division in 2017.

Extremely comfortable win for us tonight, surprisingly, and never really troubled by Alty. Big call from Burr to make five changes but credit where it’s due it worked a treat. Dropped our two utterly hopeless full backs and finally gave young Sam Hughes a go in the middle of midfield instead of Shaw, whilst George was out injured anyway. He’s excellent and has such a bright future ahead of him. New signing Danny O’Brien playing as a wing back was top notch as well and scored on his debut. Should have been four as Hannah missed a penalty, skied it well over the bar.

As good as we were it was almost too bad to be true from Alty.

Back on track. Conf North Champs 2017. Looking forward to Alty helping us on our way on live TV next month with their annual 3 point trawl at The Shay. It's all good. :woo:

Its because you keep winning games. Please stop. Stick to the 4 nil defeats.

That said I wanted you to beat the Vision last night.

You're not wrong there. I hate Tuesday nights.

Fane and Gnahoua are the 2 you mean who have both been brilliant for us.

I thought the ref was very whistle happy but not card happy enough. Both Wright and Fane warned multiple times without bookings and both teams figured out if you screamed as you went down you won a free kick. Also the Assistant ref closest to the away end was awful. Didn't give the obvious pen he left it to the ref, was at least 4 yards behind on every counter attack. In fact I'm not sure I remember him raising his flag until the ref did something.

I think it says something about our turnaround that I'm disappointed with the result last night. Thought in the first half we matched Cheltenham and both teams defended very well all the way through, not including the second goal.

Was slightly disappointed with Cheltenham if I'm being honest. Hadn't realised they were such a long ball team, thankfully Lowe was brilliant and I don't remember Wright getting much luck in open play. Saying that, I expect them to win the league. They have a very solid defence and Holman and Wright is a great partnership.

Never really expected anything last night and other results were annoying but looking at our fixture list now, I can't see anyone where I think we definitely cannot beat them. If we can string a few more wins together, who knows what'll happen.

We are not a long ball team, I thought you forced us to play that way by closing us down and not allowing us to have time on the ball, credit to you for that. Once the penalty went in there was only ever going to be one winner as you didn't get forward very well.

I went to Truro last week and called at their ground. Couldn't believe how basic it was, cover only on one side. I was given a tour by their groundsman and club secretary (neither of whom were Cornish) and shown the artist's impression of their new ground. They moved into the play-off positions with their win last night. Imagine ~ Gateshead v Truro midweek.

I agree with what BarnwoodCTFC says, I think it was credit to Kiddy that we resorted to hoofing it, because I've not seen us be like that for quite a while.

As I said in my previous post, that Kiddy shouldn't be relegated. The one on Boxing Day was practically dead and buried.

Is it a good time to mention that we are only 7 points behind with a game in hand and have a relatively favourable run in? ;)

Meh, if you say so. We've taken six points off you this season and have always finished above you. I'm more concerned about our future, than whether Aldershot are going to finish slightly less mid-table than we are. Given we DEFINITELY AREN'T your rivals, I don't see why you should care either, even if you're trolling.

Yes, it's certainly been a highly successful season for you. You've never really looked in serious danger of relegation.

Bloody hell Braintree.

Saturday is genuinely one of the biggest matches we've had in a long time.

Because I have a fiver on us finishing higher in another thread....

There's no way Aldershot will finish higher than Woking. No way. Sorry.

There is a big difference between hoofing it and trying to pick out a long pass. For me we penned Kiddy back for the last 15 minutes of the first half after a reasonably even start. We were better in the second 45, but we never really got going. Once we had the second goal we looked quite content. Kiddy worked hard and there are definitely worse sides in this division but they didn't really ever threaten us.

Good luck to them.

I agree, but when the long passes are repeatedly intercepted, cleared or rolling through to the keeper or for a goal kick, it very much resembles hoofing it.
