The most memorable day(so far) of your team in your lifetime?

For Carlisle officially is would be the day we walked out at Stamford Bridge back in 1974 for our first game in the top flight.............our team even got a guard of honour that day from the Chelsea team.

but you say our lifetime so i'd have to say it was probably Birmingham in the auto-glass final in 1995, a 76,000 crowd at the old Wembley, first time at the national stadium for our club and the hype was off the scale........never seen hype in the Carlisle public since as high as that.

I remember the Beck glory years but I was still young, and I think I must have had other things on my mind back then. I''m only saying this because those years should be my choice, yet somehow, I still regard getting back to the league as more important. We had already lost twice at Wembley, so to finally go there and win was terrific.

I suppose that before we went bust it was getting to the Quarter-Final of the old European Cup Winner's Cup. We would have played Benfica if we got past Carl Zeiss Jena ... we didn't. Since reforming it has to be beating Wrexham in the Conference Play-Off Final and watching us take the field for our first match back in the League against Accrington Stanley.

Ipswich away in November 91. After a storming start to life in the second tier we found ourselves second and were faced with promotion hopefuls Ipswuch away, they lied 5th. There were no top flight games that weekend iirc as it was an international weekend. So ours was the biggest club game in the country that day, don't think we can say that about any game since.

Anyway, we went there and tooka pasting for 90 minutes but won 2-1 to go top of the second tier with games in hand.

Although in a lot of ways for me it's everything leading up to and including Neil Coates' 89th minute winner at Hereford in a 2nd Round FA Cup replay in 1992. Got us a 3rd home tie against Arsenal which saved the club from bankruptcy.

Losing 2-1 to Liverpooll in the 2001 FA Cup Semi Final,what a fantastic day that was as we were not shown up on the day where i expected a hiding.

When I was quite young, my grandfather took me to the Anglo Italian cup finals. Even back then, I loved the thought of watching Notts at Wembley and although it's disappointing to some degree, that we haven't been back since. I do remember those two trips like they were yesterday and for that reason they stand out.

I can remember being excited about the actual coach trip, as a youngster I didn't attend any sort of away days within football. My father is a Derby County fan but my grandfather, he was Nottingham throughout and although he was Notts a fan, he would look out for Forest.

Arriving at Wembley was very impressive, you know when the games important because you can feel the occasion in the spirit before hand.

Literally, I could see how much it meant to others around me. Very impressive to see souvenirs, fans signing before hand (these days that's a rarity within it's own right). Probably one of the daftiest things, is the fact I can still smell the catering outlets and as a young picky eater. I probably would have been spoilt for choice if I did have something to eat before the game(s).

But just being inside the old Wembley, it was fantastic and my grandfather made it fun. It's very important looking back, as I realise how much he's played a major part in my life and growing up to be a Notts fan.

Luckily and thankfully, we managed to win one of those occasions but I haven't experienced anything like that since.

Hopefully, my son will get to witness Notts achieving something similar. I do hope that our fortunes change, but regardless I do enjoy supporting a local club which focuses on the important aspects of modern day football. Other clubs might think of lowly little old Notts County, who's fallen down the divisions over the years and have never really done much with their history, however for me I think we have done a fair bit considering and I do hope that my involvement with the OSA helps to bring through our own players.

For me being a family club and one which acknowledges the role fans like myself can play, well it's fantastic. I doubt you would see this in the elite leagues of Europe and that's actually pretty sad.

Beating Manchester United in the FA cup 4 -0 in 1956. Who then went on to win the League title.

In my lifetime (from 1996) - basically leaves me with AFC Wimbledon memories sadly. This season in itself contains a tonne - Akinfenwa scoring THAT goal against Liverpool. Not only matching them but playing better than them for vast swathes of the 90 minutes. Finally beating a certain Franchised Team from Milton Keynes in the JPT are a few.

The biggest memory for me has to be our first ever League 2 game after 2002 against Bristol Rovers. One of the proudest moments in my life to say we had taken just 9 years to reach the Football League.

The 3-1 win against Shrewsbury in the League Two Play-Off Final in 2007 has to top the list I think. We had enjoyed a sensational second half to the season, catapulting from lower mid-table to the play-offs in the space of a few months. Once we'd hit our stride I went into every single game knowing we were going to win - and we did. Wembley was no different and despite conceding an early goal, 40,000+ Gasheads watched on as we scored three goals, two of which were absolutely exquisite. A truly special day and a tremendous atmosphere.

I also want to give a shoutout to winning 3-2 away at Southampton in a regular league game back in 2009. It was September and we had started the season really well, despite selling Rickie Lambert to Saints, and we headed to St. Mary's on a Tuesday night with plenty of confidence that we could earn at least a point and remain around the top of League One. We won 3-2 courtesy of a 96th minute, 25 yard winner and the celebrations were absolutely mental.

Saints fans commented that we were amongst the best fans they'd ever had there, which was testament to just how loud we were that night.

 

[THE TERRACEMAN]

A couple stand out for me, the 0-0 draw in the 3rd round of the FA Cup with Manchester United at the Pirelli stadium in 2006 and winning the league 2 title at Cambridge United on the last day of last season to take the club into league 1, the highest we have been in history.
