In future I really hope we learn our lesson and don’t name any regular first team players in this tournament again. Why risk someone like Hurst getting injured?

On another note if Theo was hoping to put himself into the managers plans it’s not exactly working well. Also Amoo to me whether it’s a relic of his most recent injury or not seems like he’s lost a fair bit of pace the way he’s played recently. If he hasn’t got that he doesn’t bring much else.

It’s a paint dryer. We’ve set up like we are playing Premier League Sunderland it’s that negative.

Goal was a shocker too; came from us taking a quick free kick and fucking it up.

We are being outclassed and have offered nothing going forward but at least we are trying and are working hard. I dont think it would matter if Robinson pope Cullen or rodney were upfront they would all have barely had a kick in that half.

Whitehead has been here four or five months now I think it is and am still none the wiser what sort of player he is meant to be. Most the other Vale players you can see a strength they might bring but not with him. He can’t pass, not great going forward and can’t defend either. Not JA’s finest contribution to us at all.

2 hours of my life and a tenner il never get back. Boring that was.

Thankfully out of it now. We’ve lost so many injuries in this competition it’s beyond a joke.

Annoying second goal right at the end. Sunderland were meh we defended well bar that stupid mistake first half for their first but good run out for some of the lads.

Would of been a great own goal had he not hit his own post!

A very strange player.

Hopefully Hurst isn’t too bad though!

We looked a fair bit better once Whitehead was replaced with a proper footballer in Jake Taylor. Will leave it to others to decide whether that was a coincidence or not.

Otherwise good Cullen got some minutes and showed a few decent touches. Defensively just need to get the spacing right between fullbacks and centrebacks. Crookes and Smith particularly were far too close to each other early though did improve as the game went on.

Thought Smith did well. Can see why Sunderland struggle to win games mind, loads of good football in their own half and middle areas but toothless up front really.

Shame Monty didn’t make the most of the chance, should of stood up the cross to Pope.

Jake did well, Theo Robinson had a stroll around for 90 minutes. He was standard Theo this season. Little effort and Cullen did more in 15 than he did in 90! He can’t play a lone striker role at all.

Monty was decent enough.

Amoo looked totally out of confidence since his injury again. Doesn’t go full pelt at all and seems nervous. Didn’t realise he was on first half.

Looks like Pope could be missing a few weeks too. Truly awful challenge looks like he has bust his shoulder although the warrior he is he played on.

Couple of filthy challenges, the one on Whitehead wasn’t pretty either and with another referee...

Entertaining 1st half in Birkenhead, with a patched up COVID ravaged Tranmere 3-1 up. Should be more except for the heroics of the Leicester keeper.

Very impressed so far and worth it given the 40k prize for winning.

I hope Stevenage enjoy their 3 points on Saturday though because whenever we put in a good performance, we seem to go to pot in the following game!

It was a decent Rovers performance tonight, the better for our patched-up squad. One or two will have given the manager something to think about.

The more they call us names, it seems the more results go against them. It’s called karma.
Karma will be when you go the way of two others that hated us Bury and Wigan......They say it comes in threes

That will be your shower of overspending, deluded knobheads. A friend of mine was disappointed yesterday. Not with the result. He is a glazier and missed out on replacing all the windows that would have been smashed by the knuckle draggers.

Given the 21 pages it seems that your fans are doing most of the hating. When you tell us your real rivals are Manchester United, it seems an awful lot of bile to be wasting on Rovers...
