I see Danny Drinkwater turned out for Chelsea 'under 21s' in midweek.
It's good to see the big teams giving their youngsters an opportunity to test themselves in these games

Oxford must be chuffed to bits drawing FGR in 2nd round.
In 11 first team meetings between the two clubs Oxford lead with 6 wins and four draws with just one loss back in 2007.
That includes knocking FGR out of FA Cup on two occasions.
Another Oxford win looks likely.

If we could tomorrow, we could make ten changes as we don't have as many injuries at the moment, but Ross Embleton has already said he is going to play as strong a squad as he can. Which means 4 regulars, no Jobi McAnuff at all and Danny Johnson on the bench.

I'm one of the lucky 1,000 to get a ticket for the game, it will good to finally get back. I don't care if we get through or not. We won't beat sides like Portsmouth, Peterborough or Oxford if we was to get through anyway.

Pompey for us tonight.

Amazingly, even though tickets are on general sale, it appears we're nowhere near selling out. I'm actually quite happy about that.

Our 4th game against a League One team this season, we're currently 3-0 up.

We are 1-1 but look disinterested. Wolves dominated the opening 20 but we’ve upped it since the goal but still very lacklustre and no one really screaming “pick me” and staking a claim.

Won 2-1 Wolves played well but were dead on their feet after 70 minutes and we should of had a few but got the one that mattered.

Through 2-1 against the millionaire kids of Man City.
More game time for the ones not in the 1st XI and a bit of extra cash to pay that massive wage bill we apparently have, according to the resident expert on other clubs finances.. Otherwise the usual apathy towards it.

Not a fan of this competition either. Danny Lloyd's excellent goal and Joe Murphy's point blank save in added time made it worth the tenner for Ifollow. Encouraging to see there is some strength in depth to the Rovers squad.

A bit unlucky to lose out 2-1 to Bristol Rovers, who got away with being lazy against ten men in the second half I thought, after Jamie Turley got needlessly sent off.

Their sub keeper made two key saves, one with it sill 11 v 11 and one in the last minute from a free kick which look to be going in from Jordan Maguire-Drew. At times it didn't look like we had ten men, we actually played quite well overall but they punished us for a slow start and our back keeper should've done alot better for the goals we let in.

Made 8 changes in total, players got useful game time and a few made a case to start Saturday.

Crowd was 574 - Our lowest ever recorded. But it felt fantastic to be back amonsgt familiar faces. Made the most of it before we end up in Tier 3 - I was amazed we never started there TBH.

Sunderland away... tough one especially if we make 7 or 8 changes like we usually do as looks like they went for a strong line up at Oldham.

Class of 92 Fake FC are out of this years competition but could still win last seasons. We are living in The Twilight Zone.

If fans aren’t back in large numbers until March oddly this final may be played after the current seasons!

They could play them the same day. Its not like Salford fans are going to take up much room.

How so? The only good thing about this joke cup is the dosh and I would think Tranmere stand a better chance of progressing further since b teams are not as strong as the FL sides.

1,They are the only U21 team left in this unattractive competition and generally draw lesser gates than EFL opponents.
2, They beat us quite easily last season.

Tough game tonight at Sunderland (6pm).

They seemed to go full strength virtually at Oldham but we generally make 6-7 plus changes so have to see how Pughy approaches this one.

In an usual way the rules now work Leon Legge who is in the middle of a 2 match ban can play so assume will start, Crookes maybe if back from Covid.

Jake Taylor may go straight in but imagine we will not risk Worrall and Monty who are back from injury last weekend and Rodney who limped off at half time.

Maybe Theo Robinson up top as will likely rest Popey.

I'd still make 6 or 7 changes to the team even if Sunderland go full strength otherwise they will start complaining about being tired for the forest Green game Saturday.

Shouldn’t be! Had a free week last week and another free one next week! But with these players who knows!

Tough away game on paper at Oxford and with £40k up for grabs to the winner I expect us to field a fairly strong team.

Not in the least bit interested in this game tonight. Basically rest up everyone who played Saturday and stick everyone else in there with a few minutes thrown in for Jake Taylor.

About the only purpose this cup serves is due to us not having a reserve team now can give those outside the first team some playing time.

40 grand for the winners isn’t it? Might be useful but it’s a tough ask tonight, just don’t want what happened against Wolves U21s where we lost key players for weeks!

Typical of our luck. Hurst picks up an injury after 45 seconds

Sunderland is the worse draw we could have got pretty much a guaranteed defeat and a long distance game that you have to travel too. We are losing 1 nil can expect it being 2 or 3 nil we have offered nothing going forward.
