Could be 3 signings tomorrow apparently...

(Assuming it's Tyson, O'Brien and Kelly-Evans)

Any news on what Hardy got out the deal yet?

He's reappeared on Twitter and with characteristic humility announced he's going to write a book about the whole thing. Maybe it'll be in that.

Bit surprised at Ardley's interview about the squad being poisonous last year a) because it's still fairly in tact and b) the only way it's solved is if by pure chance, all the troublemakers' contracts ran out at the end of the season

Be interesting to see if anyone gets frozen out now that we’ve signed some more Ardley players.

I fully expect Dennis will be one of those to go. If you look at who else remains, I think most of them played for Ardley

Edit; I’d also think that Patching and Kellet could well go

Kellett possibly, but hard to know whether he was just always injured rather than a bad egg. I think we’d shift Patching and Oxlade-Chamberlain as well but would be dependent on someone wanting them.

With all the volatility and uncertainty this summer, at least Ardley has provided some consistency. That consistency is unfortunately in the form of being shit at his job.

Reduced to 9 men in our first game in non league.

Doesn’t sound like we’d have scored if we’d have been given 2 extra men.

Only Notts could go into a match after the summer we've had, with owners, management, team and fans recognising the scale of the rebuild and the fact it would take time, and without huge expectations on the result, and then pick a weird team, compound it with weird substitutions and two red cards, and still annoy everyone.

Ardley just been interviewed and says we need a physical target man and centre halves and we need to ship some out. He's not wrong and it's going to be a race between the players coming in and him getting the push.
One game in and the knives are out already.

Good that he recognises what we need. Expect we'll have a very different starting XI by the end of the month. In fairness we'd played our way back into the game (at least in terms of possession) up until the first sending off and obviously we can only speculate on what might have been. Just stupid from Doyle.

He was pretty clear after the York friendly that we needed physical men.
I went to Nuneaton first friendly and it was clear then we were lightweight with nothing up top and no centre half pairing.

First Notts game since the middle of last season for me tonight. Who's going to be my new Jon Stead?

Also excited to see how imaginative Ardley is going to be with his team selection, he has options at every position now so no doubt he'll still shove a fullback in the middle so he can blame a lack of players if we don't win

Looks like 532 from the team sheet. I'm sure it's called 352 but two full backs and three centre halves is a five man defence.

It was a proper 523, Tyson going off has really helped, not because he was playing badly and Dunn's touched the ball twice but they all look far more comfortable in a 532 with Enzio and Hemmings playing through the middle.

Bird has been a bomb scare but apart from that, it's looking positively ok defensively.

That was okay. Still looked quite a makeshift team but that was to be expected really. We played quite well and defended solidly in spells and then looked the same old car crash as last season in others. Once the new players have had time to settle and we've made a few more changes there was enough tonight to make me think we'll be alright.

Pretty clear to all that we need to shore up our options up front but I'd guess that's partly dependent on a departure or two in the next few days?

I think Hemmings will be one to leave and be replaced with a target man.

I thought Hemmings and Boldewijn played well as a pair when we played the ball properly to their feet and into space. The problem is that it’s so easy to be sucked into thinking it has to a battle and you have to go long. Both us and Stockport were guilty of it tonight, both looked much better sides when playing through midfield.

Promising signs anyway IMO, particularly as two of the back three hadn’t even trained with the rest of the team yet.

We need the no9. All teams go long at some point just to take the pressure off the defence.
More positives than negatives tonight at least they're fighting like a team this season.

Is there really a lot of fans calling for Ardley out? I haven't seen it but I have seen lots of people saying it's happening

Looks like he's on his way to Dundee U. Hopefully we have a skyscraper forward player lined up.

I like Hemmings but he's the most obvious player to release really given I imagine he'll free up a lot of money.

Can we still sign players from the FL after its window closes?

Also - where on earth can you find free highlights after games these days?

A shame because Hemmings is really good, but understandable if freeing up his wages allows us to get someone in who suits Ardley’s needs more.

You can still sign players up until about the last game of the season in this pan shite division.

Highlights seem to be monopolised by BT this season? Sure the national league website used to have them online but not this season seemingly?
