Yeah I’m assuming the ownership thing is sorted out in some decent way, if it isn’t who the manager is academic.

If it is, I wouldn’t want Ardley anywhere near it. He brought nothing last season, albeit under difficult circumstances, and has no experience of this league, which seems important if you’re going to do anything.

A friend who "used" to work in hospitality at Notts seems to think there is going to be an announcement Thursday/Friday this week.
Not sure how much he still keeps in contact with those still at the club but he said it will be a positive announcement. He also said that the letters to players went out today, so I imagine we will start to see who have been released tomorrow/Wednesday.

I hope they are cut throat in terms of who they keep and let go. Any 50:50 decisions should get the chop IMO.

What I will say about this division is there are some quality usernames.

Edit: except mine which took zero time to think of, although it does appear on every football site I'm a member of and goes back to the early 90's

I can say with utter confidence that this is the best forum on the site. Never been on the Premier League one, like, but it’ll be full of people who’ve never been to Rochdale on a Tuesday night, so fuck ‘em.

Take a quick look on the Prem forum, it's dead. Just six threads have been posted on since February.

L2 and non-league sections are very active but other than that this place is pretty quiet.

What a treat for the tinpotters to come worship and show respect at the San Sirrel, a one season offer only.

Well the silence is deafening at Notts.
As far as we are aware DD has been completed and a formal offer is with Lawyers.
We have also been rumored to have penciled in two backroom staff should the deal go through.
My thought is its Hardy who is now trying to squeeze the last penny out of the bidders.
What I am surprised is we have yet to have a firm "this is who is taking over" from anywhere.
Yes there is talk about a billionaire who runs a brand of chicken restaurant, there was also a leaked conversation that alludes to this.

All it means is Notts fans on Mad are getting knickers in a twist and just throwing names around.

I expect something to be announced on Friday.

My timing is perfect.
BBCRN reporiting "
BREAKING - South African consortium bidding to buy Notts County issue a statement through their lawyers:

"I can confirm that we made an offer (for the club) on Friday. We look forward to completing the takeover as swiftly as possible."

"Terry Pritchard, who is advising the consortium, met with Alan Hardy today to discuss the finer detail of the offer. There is a genuine desire by the consortium to conclude matters ASAP, to attract players to the club in time for pre-season."

"

Terry Pritchard? Oh dear...

He has a history of claiming to have been involved in takeovers at a number of clubs yet there's no evidence to back it up as far as I'm aware. Portsmouth and Bolton fans should be able to tell you more about him.

He was supposed to have been involved with a consortium involving Paul Stewart looking to takeover at Blackpool as recently as two months ago but that ended pretty unceremoniously.

Alan Hardy has been too busy on twitter via a different username protecting his legacy the maniac.

Seems a few people are getting a bit too enthusiastic about a takeover by a consortium no one knows pretty much anything about.

The chairman appearing on Twitter with different names is er weird. Notts County sends you mad.

What a football club we are all. There's always something else absurd going off.

His latest Twitter antics aren't funny. I'm really concerned about his well being. He seems to have sacrificed his mental health for a football club. He needs to sell up so we can all move on and he can hopefully get some help.

What's his handle now?

He's deleted his new account now, but he's been posting under the guise of a Notts fan (or 'County fan' as he's been putting it - a classic give away that you're not in fact a Notts fan :ffs:) and arguing with people who've criticised him.

There now seems to be genuine concerns over his well-being. To be fair I think I’d have gone a bit mad if I’d lost £10m, my reputation, business, football league status and allegedly marriage all in the space of a year. Brought upon himself obviously, but to face the kind of national humiliation he has as well as the distain of thousands of people (not least those he has put out of work) is bound to take some kind of toll.

And it could pretty much all have been avoided if he’d just stayed off fucking Twitter.

It's really sad, and completely unnecessary. If the club is sold to competent owners in the next few days he could legitimately say he was a well meaning chairman who actually delivered some tangible improvements to the club off the field, but was found desperately out of his depth in the football department. Obviously that's not a great legacy, but it's also certainly not in the league of men like Keith Haslam or Owen Oyston. It's entirely his desire to be centre stage that's elevated him onto a plane with those names.

He looked absolutely ruined on EMT months ago, and it’s not got any better since and creating maybe two twitter accounts to stand up for his actions (which is impossible) does not look good, I think he could seriously need help.

He’s not done a very good job in comparison to Keith Haslam because he came out of the club millions richer not the other way round.

Side note I presume Paragon are still going because they are currently working on the refurb at my local!

Oh I agree. I more meant that Hardy has never really exhibited the malevolence that Haslam did with the Stags. Haslam was out for himself with little regard for Mansfield's interests. I have no doubts Hardy cared about making a success out of Notts - his downfall was that he wanted to be at the centre of it all.

Anyways finally word of a pre-season friendly for us with Alfreton lined up. Not been announced at our end though - perhaps something else of more importance is imminent?
