Until we sort out the defence, I think we will lose games like this. We won't keep a clean sheet, and we won't score more than one. 2-1 Carlisle.

A fairly good point but if we had a goal threat then we would be winning games like this, Ellis is doing great this season at the back, where the hell was he last season? Dropped in favour of that useless fuck Brisley.

I think we will be alright this season but with no real attacking threat we will struggle to make the play offs.

Mansfield looked pretty average to me but I already knew they would. No way will they be a promotion contender, only would be with the help of referee's who are scared of Evans like the c*** ref today..

Should've won really. Dominated the first half, could've been more than 1-0 up and then Mansfield were better after the break, though we still probably created the best chances, hitting the post twice (3 times in total).

I thought Mansfield were crap defensively, in particular Mirfin and Logan. Angol was strong but can't remember him getting anything in front of goal.

Ref was shite. Pen was soft. Evans and his assistant were entertaining as usual.

Not a terrible point, and 7 points out of 15 is ok.

Shaun Miller should be starting or at least coming on earlier than the last 10 minutes when its too late.

Ack, but with the season still early and few teams really standing out as nailed on promotion contenders performances feel more important than points in seeing where we're going to end up and I'd chalk this down as another good one and one we were unlucky not to win.

One of the worst refereeing performances I've seen, every single 50/50 we went into resulted in a Mansfield free kick, including one where the 'fouled' Mansfield player was still a yard or two away from the ball, every time we tried to use any sort of physicality it was given as a foul against us, including one moment where Anderson put his arm across Hope running into the box, Hope ran through Anderson's arm, Anderson fell over, Logan came out to collect and the referee indicated advantage to Mansfield (not suggesting Anderson had fouled Hope, but to think Hope fouled Anderson you must be absolutely mental). Then he just gave a booking to Angol for kicking Mark Ellis after falling over, Angol really could have been sent off two or three times today, refusing to give us the ball for a throw-in, nothing, elbowing Hallam Hope, nothing, elbowing Danny Grainger, nothing, kicking Mark Ellis... yellow. Also one time Logan thought our player was offside when he wasn't he turned to the linesman and shouted loud enough for everyone in the Warwick to hear 'are you fucking kidding me?' and that apparently didn't warrant punishment.

I'm happy with our performance, a bit disappointed with the result, but fuming at the shit ref who cost us two points by letting Mansfield kick, dig and elbow to their heart's content while pulling us back for some imagined infraction every time we got a decent sight of goal.

The referee was fucking useless, as was his cronie running the line in front of the Paddock. Although to suggest someone should see red for holding on to the ball is mental, as is suggesting someone get punished for shouting "Are you fucking kidding me?". Give over, Shoddy.

Not discussing what my personal views are on whether it's right or wrong but I was very much under the impression that profanities, especially when directed at officials was an offence.

as for holding on to the ball, I never said ot should have been a red, just one of the many bookable offences Angol committed today, and he didn't just hold onto it but kept pushing Hope away when he tried to get it.

Very pleased with a point.

First half hour we were good, deservedly lead. Mansfield dominated after that, but surprisingly we defended pretty well. Frustrating that the goal came from a goalkeeping brain fart after he produced some pretty decent saves.

I think a draw is fair though despite Mansfield missing a penalty. We hit the woodwork 3 times. Good point against a decent team, if we can win next week we'll have made a solid start.

One other thing... I'm not seeing a league 2 footballer in Richie Bennett. Early days I know but I think we may have pissed away a £50,000 transfer fee and a 2 year contract on a fucking cart horse who we'll be lucky if we get 5 goals a season from.

clearly HG is in a heightened emotional state so I'll let him off with suggesting there isn't a league footballer in Bennett, and that Mansfield dominated for two thirds of the game but if he still feels that way tomorrow I'll slap him.

I think territorially they did, they finished the first half well and were better than us second half. They didn't make the most of it obviously hence the score line and that's why I said a draw was fair.

Can you tell me what you see in Bennett? He wins the odd flick on and is big, but he doesn't hold the ball up, he doesn't seem to have the football brain to lay off effective passes and he's not a goal threat. I'm hoping he adapts and makes the step up, but he hasn't yet.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of what Cosgrove can offer. I don't think he's as strong as Bennett but he might have a bit more mobility and better technique.

Bennett has come close to scoring in almost every game, only five games in, so I would say he's just been unlucky so far and over the course of the season many more of those will go in.

Didn't go but the stats show we edged possession and had more chances,
Three penalty misses on the trot (one in the cup) should be 4 points better off than we are, not worried in the slightest, after all 15 new players will always take time to puzzle together, all high quality by the way,
Dream debut by Calum Butcher, comes on and scores within 2 mins!.
Into the next one. Early days everyone lets look at the league seriously in Oct/Nov

yeah the stats are a bit misleading tbh, I didn't remember most of those Mansfield chances but the were a few wayward shots from outside the box that never looked like serious goal attempts while a number of our attacks ended in mysterious free kicks given against us instead of a shot on goal.

I'm pretty confident in that prediction. He's a constant attacking presence and I see him as Wyke's natural successor

I don't see him getting that many goals. He doesn't seem like a natural finisher like Wyke. Other than goals, he needs to improve his awareness of what's around him and instead of always trying to flick balls on, I'd like to see him take the ball on his chest now and then. Like today he wasn't getting much change out of Mirfin in the aerial battle, he could have mixed it up a bit more.

On Cosgrove, he came on at Fleetwood in the cup and looked nowhere near Bennett's quality. I can't see Bennett scoring too many but I've thought he's been playing well, just not taking his chances.

One thing I should say, it was a really good match. That doesn't come across in my summary, but both teams played well even though both teams had spells when they were second best, it was end to end with a lot of commitment from both sets of players. Probably a good one for a neutral.

interesting.

I wasn't at fleetwood so haven't seen much of Cosgrove but I'd be worried if he's no where near bennetts quality cos I haven't seen much quality from Bennett. Plenty of strength, desire and work rate but not a lot of quality as yet.

Bennet is good as a target man but if there is no one who can feed of off him to score goals then he is not going to be much use.

Hope took his goal well but he still needs to make more things happen upfront.

Oh and another thing why is Adams nowhere near as good as he was last season? This season he has looked fairly poor.

Adams had two men on him from the first whistle.

This.

Teams started doing this in the second half of last season. It's not rocket science really, one of the best providers at this level. Stop him and you cut out a large percentage of our creativity.

Logan is crap, the only person who thinks he isn't is the manager, which is frustrating, as he's cost us 3 or 4 goals we've conceded so far.

Either way, delighted that we got a point, we've had a hard season so far

This will be the second week in a row where Carver's dug himself a huge hole that come Saturday night he can't get out of.

Do you lot get embarrassed by carver continuously making him/herself look a tit?

How is it that every ball boy has a towel. Just like last season - towelgate. Didn't think it was allowed.

Carlisle defenders just going down faking injury just to try and get Angol a second booking. That's the reason we had to sub him.

Oh and the third woodwork strike was offside.

Are you off your tits?

The third was a strike from 25yrds out with about six men behind the ball.

I think that's just to wind Evans up. We don't even really do the long throws anymore and half the time we used the towel yesterday it was only to do a short throw to a player right by the touchline.

Carlisle defenders just going down faking injury just to try and get Angol a second booking. That's the reason we had to sub him.

That's a crock of shit and you know it so I presume you're fishing. Maybe if they had have gone down every time he elbowed, kicked or pushed one of them instead of staying on their feet and pushing him back we wouldn't have collected any bookings ourselves and instead Angol would have got the straight red card he thoroughly deserved.

Evans even said himself Angol probably should've been sent off for kicking out at Ellis.
