Richie Bennett is gonna score the winner on Sunday, I already know it and I've accepted it.

Nothing to do with starting, I said he’ll score the winner ;)

Thats the point. He has done nothing. Basically more spectators means less room for press so someone had to miss out and it was him. It stinks frankly

Notts are now taking him as part of our staff/directors lot. Maybe he’ll be on the bench.

Could be an issue if we make it to the final, the current (new) situation is that travel in and out of Lancs and Greater Manchester should be avoided. This is only advice but I can see Bristol Council kicking off about having a few thousand of our fans turning up. As a footnote many of our fans still haven't accepted that Stockport is no longer in Cheshire but I don't think that will cut much ice with the 'authorities'.

You're welcome to say you are in Cheshire.

Curtis lost all credibility with me with his incredible arselicking of Ardley, even when it was patently obvious we were going nowhere with him in charge. I know all local journos do this to a certain extent, but Curtis went above and beyond.

And surely no-one reads newspaper websites, they’re awful.

He had a close relationship with Neal. At one point didnt Ardley invite him to a party with his family after an away game at Sutton?

I am enjoying Ruben Rodrigues’ virtuoso performances pretty much since the exact moment Leigh went on a podcast to hammer our recruitment, ask why we signed him and explain how he doesn’t even have a position to play in. Some serious Michael Jordan vibes from Ruben.

Yeah Curtis ‘revealed’ that when Ardley got the boot. Nothing wrong with it in itself, but when he’s spent the last 2 and a half years proclaiming a distinctly average manager as some sort of football genius, it looks a bit iffy.

When we played away at your place a few weeks ago, you wouldn’t even let Burchnall do his post-match radio interview on the ground. Poor bloke was on the phone in the middle of the street outside.

It’s maybe understandable when the games were behind closed doors, albeit barely. Not sure there’s any excuse when there’s 1,000 fans there.
There was no excuse then it's truly pathetic now.

Bollocks, the NL never become proactive involved in anything unless there's money to be doled out

Leigh’s going now after the club added him to our official allocation. This after one particularly excited Torquay fan posted pictures of him on Twitter and said it ‘would be a shame if someone recognised him’ at Plainmoor.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday so IMO we can start discussing the actual game now.

Glad it is a midday kick off looking at the current weather. We may or may not start with the same XI that finished the game on Saturday, probably a good chance we will tbh, although Jim O’Brien may feature if fit. One thing is for sure, we won’t sit back, and it should be a good game.

Torquay to have a few of their injured lads back?

Famous last words, but I feel reasonably confident about this one. I think it’s a kinder match up for us than Chesterfield was in terms of style.

We completely controlled the last game at Plainmoor a couple of months ago and are an infinitely better, much more confident team now. Torquay were in better form then as well, but I assume have also got a couple of players fit since.

I doubt Knowles will start btw. Brindley will drop back into centre back, so the questions will be who plays right wing back (Kelly-Evans or Boldewijn) and who plays that other midfield spot (O’Brien, Griffiths or play Knowles/Sam and move Rodrigues back).

Not sure where Madden is at in terms of fitness for us. He's key for us. Cardwell, Reid, Bennett as strike options are nothing special at this level.

Cardwell changed the game in your favour I thought when we played at yours, I feel like our defence struggles against forwards that rough them up and get stuck in.

Cardwell started well after coming on loan from Chorley but has faded the last month or two. Can't remember the last time he even scored a goal for us. He's still ahead of Bennett in the pecking order though. If you really rated Bennett after his spell with you, he'd be available in the summer I bet.

Oates and Armstrong vs Reid and Cardwell is an area where you'd be distinctly stronger than us. Madden would balance it up more.

I watched your game against Bromley and was impressed, you looked good all across the park.Thought both centre backs were very aggressive, maybe too much and ref could go against them.
How is Ferguson doing this season, quality player going forward.

I've watched 2 out of the last 3 Hartlepool games (Sutton and Bromley) so I'm not well informed on this, just making a quick assessment based on the fact we play identical formations which makes it easier to do

Hinchliffe
Hogan Liddle Johnson
Southam Hales Featherstone Rooney Ferguson
Madden
Oates Armstrong

Be a good side that.

We play with three centre backs in a back five, Liddle, Johnson and usually Lewis Cass but he's knackered so Odusina is filling in, it's been working well, we look hopeless playing any formation with four defenders.

Ferguson has been excellent, really glad he's contracted for next season, his first instinct every time when he has the ball out wide is get in the box, doesn't have to beat his man, just whips it in, usually to great effect.

Could see us maybe going in for Bennett again if we more than likely can't afford Armstrong on his Salford wages, never seen such an impactful loan signing, was impressive from day one, would love him back here.

I make you clear favourites to be honest, we've lost any attacking spark we had in the first half of the season. Saying that though we are unbeaten in the last 13.

First goal is vital as we never look like we have the mentality to come from behind these days.
