Last night has resulted in a very negative atmosphere amongst the fans. Nobody is happy at the minute. We've had a run of poor results before but the evident lack of learning from mistakes has triggered a majority of the fan base at the worst possible time. We've got four games to fix it and 3 of them are away which I think favours us. Blundell Park is a hostile place atm.

I think it will all be forgotten once a playoff place has been secured and we'll regain optimism but honestly at this stage we could easily get dragged out of it completely. None of our games are easy from here and if we don't win on Saturday there'll be a mountain of pressure on us.

I still think we'll piss it though :bdick:

Don't want to go into the last game vs Forest Green without having secured a play off spot

You'll be fine, I expect by then Cheltenham will have the title wrapped up and FGR will play a weakened side in preperation for the playoffs, roll over and gift you the 3 points.

Who plays first in the play offs or is that decided once the order is sorted? What I mean is as we're second would we play the home leg first or the away leg first.

Looking forward to the play offs, I think we've all accepted it's over and congratulations to cheltenham, very good effort from them and wish them all the best next season, hopefully we'll be with them!

Far more confident this season going into the play offs we may not be winning but we're also not losing, fully expect us to go up with penalties in both rounds of the play offs!!

2nd and 3rd place teams play their home legs second.

At least it was only a glimmer of hope after that Cheltenham game for us, rather than being up at the top all season and blowing it right at the end. We were looking good for a playoff spot for the first third of the season, but I was too busy enjoying the sensational football to think about where we would end up.

I've got my fingers crossed for Forest Green going up now. With Kidderminster relegated, they are the last team who have neither been relegated or promoted since we came down. We'll be more fifth tier than any other club in the league. Something else for fans to enjoy a moan about.

Posted on here some time ago it would be a minor miracle if we made the POs with our run in. Wins away at Grimsby and Gateshead have given me renewed hope. Off to Wrexham on Saturday and last game at home to Alty on the 30th. Could be that the 2 points stolen from us by Guiseley (you all know what Im talking about) could be the difference between us and €€stleigh.

Well it was nice being involved after a few seasons in the doldrums.

Cmon Braintree. Show the bank rolled clubs how it's done.

Just out of curiousity how many do Forest Green, Braintree and Dover think they would take to Wembley ? (If they get there)

I know we aren't exactly well supported, but we'd easily take double of what Dover or Braintree would take.

I'd say we could get 9-10 thousand. Braintree around 2500 and Dover 4000 ish

No idea, though we've taken a decent amount when we've had big cup games in the recent past. I don't think we'd embarrass ourselves.

EDIT: 4,000 would be embarrassing

Whoever makes it it's probably going to be one of the lowest attended play off finals for a while I'd have thought.

We will take 13 k + I reckon. This will be our 4th trip to Wembley and our 3rd trip in 3 years so the novelty of a day out will have worn off for most people. 19,613 was the attendance for Cambridge vs Gateshead. 16,346 was the attendance for the attendance for Wrexham vs Newport. If we are there then I reckon we might just hit a 20k attendance in total.

they need to move this away from Wembley. I know its a nice day out for people, but its not great seeing Wembley empty. no disrespect mean, but say its dover vs braintree, would there really be more than 10k there???

And they're not the only ones either...
We all know Dover are secretly rolling in it...

I'm not sure if geographic advantage helps teams like Braintree and Dover, but it's an incredible achievement given how many bigger/richer clubs are below them. And no fluke either, the league positions in previous seasons shows this.

I hope Braintree go up, largely because they've beaten us 5 times out of the last 6. Also because Portsmouth might bring twice as many away fans as home fans. They should probably fix their pitch drainage.

We might not win much support with this view, but I agree with you totally. I have thought for a few years that it might be a good idea to have the Trophy and Vase finals at Wembley, but play them on the same day, which should guarantee a fairly decent attendance. As for the play-off finals, I wouldn't advocate following what happens in the National North and South, but maybe play ours at a neutral venue that is best suited to the teams playing. For example, this year, if the final is FGR versus Grimsby then play it somewhere like Villa Park. Alternatively, if it is Dover versus Braintree they why not go for the Emirates. I accept that this is down to business agreements, finance and advertising but surely common sense should occasionally apply.

I think the problem with this is scheduling. What if you get a final such as Bristol Rovers vs Grimsby again? Neutral venues that were used before such as the Britannia Stadium wouldn't be big enough.

Maybe we should be talking contingency planning, but games between teams as well supported as Bristol Rovers and Grimsby are rare, more often they are between teams with more modest levels of support. How many attended that game, was it anywhere near capacity at Wembley, or would they have just about filled the Emirates? I know that everyone enjoys a day out at Wembley, but atmosphere is part of the big game experience too. If we get to the final and play someone like Braintree the attendance is unlikely to be more than about 25000, if that is the case then why not play the game at the Madejski, which is about half way between the two teams.

The attendance was 48k for that one.
Everything I've heard about the Madjelski makes it sound like an awful match day experience!

It's a fair cop, Jim Parmenter could only hide his second super secret stealth salad factory for so long...you've seen Tomorrow Never Dies right?

Anyway, we filled Gillingham's away end and took 1,500 to Yorkshire in the last few years...the idea that we would only take 4,000 to Wembley for the biggest game in our history is laughable.

OK, so they could have easily have fit into the Emirates, which does have a good reputation for match day experience. I take your point about the Madejski, a ground I haven't visited, but I just picked that as one that could accommodate easily the number likely to attend.
