It's a fair cop, Jim Parmenter could only hide his second super secret stealth salad factory for so long...you've seen Tomorrow Never Dies right?

Anyway, we filled Gillingham's away end and took 1,500 to Yorkshire in the last few years...the idea that we would only take 4,000 to Wembley for the biggest game in our history is laughable.

It's amazing how many people a trip to Wembley brings out. Dover has a decent population doesn't it?

We took 18k for our first Wembley trip in thick snow, we don't get 18k every week...

The problem with Wembley is that it's bloody massive. Both us and Grimsby took good numbers for that FAT final and the place still looked empty.

when wrexham were there twice, the attendance was about 35k and we brought about 18k given that it was our first visit there. fast forward 2 months to te play off final and the attendance was approx 17k with about 8k fans, and while i only attended the trophy final, watching the playoff game on tv was embarassing

even if we are ever in it again i would advocate using a premier league ground instead eg britannia or villa park. midlands ground where everone has to travel to it (unless solihull moors are going to fly up the leagues, then it wont be fair :))

A day out at Wembley definitely brings people out, undoubtedly the Conference play-off final also brings out a few neutrals, but most of the teams in the league (excepting the likes of Wrexham, Grimsby and Tranmere) would struggle to attract a following of more than 10k. I would much rather be in a ground like Villa Park, the Emirates or even the Etihad with 25k others, than Wembley. Forgive me if I draw the line at the Britannia, the only ground in the country I have been to that is colder or windier than our own.

If you do get promoted, then just wait until you come to our place next season. Pray it is in August or May.

if i remember rightly the final has only been at Wembley since 2013 hasnt it? sure the 2012 final was at the Etihad as i was planning the visit until our capitulation against Luton in the semis

Have to confess that I haven't paid too much attention to the play-offs, so can't remember when they started or where they were played, as it is only the last couple of years that we have been anywhere near qualifying for them.

Madjeski isnt that bad. I've been a few times and thought it was ok. If you move the play-off away from Wembley I could imagine that they would look at Stadium MK or the Ricoh Arena. No chance of it being the ground of a premiership club.

The problem with that was the final was just a week after the SF which meant fans rushing around trying to sort tickets, transport, hotels etc on a couple of days notice. It'll be same this season and will affect the attendance again regardless of who is there. Whereas last season there were 2 weeks gap in between the matches.

OK with Villa Park then, don't think they will be troubling the Premiership for a while!

Dont think you need worry about us any longer. Injuries to key players, and a virus brought back by our England C players has led to a big drop off in form. FGR & Altrrincham at home, Grimsby, Wrexham & Gateshead away are our remaining fixtures. If we make the POs after that lot it will be a minor miracle.
Just need to draw or beat Alty before the BT cameras on Saturday. Looks on paper to be the easiest of our run in but they will be fighting for their lives to avoid the drop. If we do make it, it will have been a MAJOR miracle and I might just believe there is a (football) GOD.

But why would the FA pay to rent, instead of playing at a ground they already own?

They get all the match day revenue as well.

completely moot discussion.

Waiting for the announcement that one of the teams above us has been doing dodgy deals and gets a 10 point deduction*.

Much how Luton cheated in 2004/05 when they won league one but it was only discovered 2 years later, costing us auto promotion.

No, they're definitely not. I don't know where RailwayBlue got that idea from.
They're still part-time!
My post was a question really.
According to Steve Burr our problem was our budget, so assuming Braintree's budget is less than ours (based on crowds), then SB's argument is debunked.

I think a few clubs in this division have underperformed this season compared to Braintree!
