last season it was said that kick offs had to be early because they couldn't be same time as Champions/Europa League

This makes sense, I can't see Real Madrid being happy getting shown at the same time as Tranmere, what with our massive international support.

I hear you once took more to Wembley than some European giants! So it's clear to see why they'd be pissed off!

Exactly. Everton have the same issue being Merseyside's 3rd club, played in less cup finals than us since turn of millennium.

Another tinpot thing about this league is the ridiculously short timespan that the playoffs are contested over. You win through on the Sunday and then have about 8 minutes to organise everything ready to get down to Wembley for the final so you can just about make it in time for kickoff.

The fact you play 4 days after season end is ridiculous too. Fortunately for us it hasn't made much difference to players, but rubbish for fans.

The semi kick off times are a joke too.

Has anyone heard anything about the play-offs being increased from 4 to 6 teams next season?

Be interesting to see if that gets passed. Can't see the better clubs voting in favour of it.

I saw it had been discussed in the minutes of one of our board meetings. 6 would play 7, and the winner would play 2 in one semi, and 4 would play 5, and the winner would play 3 in the other semi. No idea if it is going ahead though.

I think it could freshen things up a bit . Would rather an automatic promotion spot!

Wouldn't be too chuffed if Barrow who finished 20 points behind us in 7th had a chance of promotion!

Sounds like a ridiculous idea. The more teams they add to the playoffs the less point there is in the 46 games which precede the them.

I'd only vote for this if there were 2 auto spots and 3rd to 6th contest play offs

Do Tranmere still have a million injuries?
Have a feeling Aldershot may just sneak it, and think they're quite decent value too betting wise.
For next season's sake though, would rather Tranmere or FGR go up

Anywhere between 6-8 first team players. Mickey keeping status of a couple unknown, mostly because we are down to only 4 fit senior defenders which would mean a move away from the highly successful 3-4-1-2.

Still an outrageous amount of attacking quality in Norwood, Jennings, Dunn, Cook, Stockton, Collins etc though.

Aldershot are very confident judging by their forum, Already making plans for the final. :bg:

Prediction thread with the first two predicting a 3-0 & 4-1 win for the shots. Someone also claiming our players will be overwhelmed and intimidated by a 5,000/6,000 crowd. (Appreciate the EBB is a old fashioned throwback sort of stadium but come on).

For what its worth i was very impressed with Aldershot on good Friday. Probably the best performance for an away side at Prenton Park this season (just shading Dagenham). In saying that we didn't finish 13 points ahead of them by accident.

One things for sure, it will be tight. I cannot call it, any one of the four can put claims to going up.

Good luck.

Can't wait. Never ever expected to get here, just hope we are competitive and take a result up to Tranmere on Saturday.
Our game the other week was a really even contest, so should be a cracker over the two legs.
Good luck to all over the next few days.

There's a guy on our forum predicting that Aldershot will be "comfortably case aside". Swings and roundabout, they be optimists and pessimists on either side. Personally I'm not confident at all but that's mainly due to years of constant disappointment rather than anything I've seen this season/the two games against Aldershot.

Aldershot undoubtedly the value at 11/2 to see this through under the WadFather. It will be interesting to see how the Tranmere players cope with this high-pressure situation - they haven't done very well at them so far this season against teams around them.

All the pressure's on Tranmere and Aldershot, everyone expects whoever gets through that tie to walk the final. Anything less then promotion for either is a massive failure.

Don't talk common sense.

Looking at League 2 this season, the fact that one of Hartlepool and Newport will survive is a joke really. Should be 3 down, 3 up.

Why not, instead of straightforward play offs, split off the top 8 after 23 games, play each other 3 times in a mini league to decide champions.

Then in the play offs, 8th plays 7th, winners play 6th, winners play 5th, winners play 4th, winners play 3rd, winners play 2nd for promotion, all at Wembley. On the same day.

Then the team voted most proper club in non league not to be promoted on merit play off against the third bottom team in league 2 at the Maracana to decide the third promotion spot.

Unsurprisingly, I think there should be two automatic places. I don't think a place in the Football League should be decided by a cup competition and any club that goes up should earn it on merit over 46 games. However, there is no hope in hell of a majority of clubs voting to scrap the play-offs.

I am also not in favour of three up, three down, as relegation to non-league should be different to routine promotions / relegations in the League system.

Fully expecting both legs to be nervy tight affairs. Two of the league's best defences and two different contrasting front lines. Wouldn't be a surprise if it went to ET & pens up at PP on Saturday. Think Tranmere are 'more ready' for a FL return than us but what we've managed this season is already quite an achievement and it sets a brilliant foundation to compete for the title next year, should we fail to go up here.
