I think the frustration came from the way FGR killed the game with feigned injuries and time wasting. It felt like there was a 20 minute period in the second half where virtually no football was played at all. It was a little unsavoury after a top first half performance by them, but there wasn't a single Tranmere fan that I spoke to that begrudged them the win.

I'd imagine it's the usual keyboard warrior numpties you get everywhere. I know a few Rovers fans who went yesterday and they were all pretty magnanimous.

Having been in your position myself I know how gutting it is and you all have my sympathies. Play off final defeats are really hard to take.

I know it would only have been one or two idiots that thought Tranmere were hard done by - annoyingly for all of us, it tends to be the idiots that like voicing their opinions on the telly...

Well done on yesterday FRG. You were undoubedly the better team on the day, as unfortunately most of our players who could have made a difference were either sitting in the stands injured or at home on crutches. Had some of these guys, Vaughan, Sutton and Harris in particular been available the result might have been somewhat different as we could of played our preferred 3-5-2 formation and Taore might not have got the amount of space he had if Jay had been around. We also would have had at least some options to change things on the bench which sadly we didn`t due to lack of numbers. But football, as we all know, is all about ifs and buts. One thing I have to mention is some of play acting that went on. That incident involving Cooper rolling all over the floor after being barged by Norwood in the first half was described on TV I believe as being called "embarassing" by the commentary team. and there were other similiar attempts to get players booked or sent off as well as that farce at a drop ball near the end of the game when the player was clearly instructed by the referee, who IMO was poor thoughout (but we have got used to that in the last 2 years), to play it back to the goalkeeper smashed it in the crowd. Just why Forest Green resort to this type of gamesmanship when they clearly have a very good side containing some more than decent players is beyond me. I have a feeling most of this sort of thing comes from the manager who comes across as a pretty odious character.

It's hard to talk about it without it sounding like sour grapes, but I agree with all of that. It left a rather bitter taste.

Hmm, the elbow from McNulty on Doige wasnt so good either

This season we were fortunate to have pretty much a fully fit squad, last year V Grimsby we were similar- barely any midfield left. The tolls of a hard long league

Stockton (was it?) had a bit of a stamp too so it wasn't all Corinthian Tranmere hard done by but Cooper does dive a lot and we were wasting time in ways I couldn't fathom either, pretty sure we could have got over the line in a bit more attractive fashion.

After 24 hours calm reflection the turning point was the foul on jennings in the build up to the second goal. It could easily have been a free kick on the edge of the fgr box.

No excuses mind fgr deserved the win .

I was gutted for Tranmere yesterday, a team with that fan base just shouldn't be in non league. Tranmere weren't attacking like they had been for a lot of games this season, too many aimless punts forward. Thought that Dunn was a good player when he came on.
Good luck to FGR in the football league, my prediction is that they will be in the "promised land" for 15 years. I'm sure the FGR fans will continue to post here like the Grimsby fans have done.
See you all in August for what I imagine will be be a very tough season for the Moors.

You looked very good on the last day apart from the finishing. Admittedly we were very nervous and played poorly.

I don't think we'll be seeing Forest Green or Lincoln at this level again any time soon.

Dunn was on loan from Liverpool and will be going back there.

There's no reason Solihull can't consolidate their position in the NL.

I'd be surprised if Tranmere are challenging for the title next season. Losing in the play-off final is tough and often results in a huge hangover.

Appreciate this is probably wishful thinking but no way we aren't challenging again.

All our better players apart from Ihiekwe and maybe Stockton are staying. We will replace the dead wood with quality.

Surely not going to have an injury ravaged season again. Mellon in charge for a full season.

We'll be top 3 somewhere.

Dale Vince has been spotted after Sunday's triumph and looks absolutely delighted.

Seeing as we didn't go up, I would have preferred Aldershot to go all the way, purely based on the fact that Gary Waddock is a lovely, lovely man, unlike that awful Mark Cooper.

Ultimately, the injury to Wallace in the Aldershot semi was just one injury too far. We've had to change our formation 3 or 4 times in the last three months due to players ending up on treatment tables and being done for the season and when I seen Mangan in for him I knew we were lining up 4-2-3-1 and feared the worst.

Forest Green aren't a great unit, but what they do have is the best individual talents in the league- Doidge, Marsh-Brown, Woolery and Noble can all hurt you on a bad day and at least three of them were on song and I felt with the side we had out, if FGR's big players showed up, they'd beat us. Unfortunate, but that's life.

We'll be up there again next season but this was a massive blow after the season we've had, but ultimately we kinda flat tracked a bit too much and didn't win enough games against the very top end and it cost us.
