Sobering in all this excitement to think that the three teams that do claw their way into the championship will likely be hanging on for dear life this time next year. Either that or already relegated.

Mine's a cyanide.
2-2 now and you'd expect Pompey to go and win now ?
As long as they don’t lose

A little anticlimactic BUT a really good chance we miss out if it went to the weekend

Full respect to all else involved. Incredible season. Pompey esp who miss out on autos and Sunderland too. Play offs will be tough. Full of praise for all. Thankfull even if it feels we should have gone up weeks ago..... but thats why we're full of respect for our rivals.

Had a night to reflect on things. Luton and Barnsley deserve to go up, so no complaints there. The best two footballing sides over the course of the season.

As for us, last night's disappointment aside, we've had a great season and may still hit 90 points which is damn good.

A real shame for us that we couldn't take it to the final day as it would have been a fitting end to a crazy season. That breakaway offside goal being chalked off then conceding immediately at the other end just knocked the stuffing out of the players. They've been remarkably resilient this season but this was a comeback too far.

We've got plenty of time to dust ourselves off and at least we go into the play-offs with a reasonably healthy squad, unlike in our previous two attempts.

How the fuck did you manage to cock that 2 v the keeper up K-Win, basics and makes it 3-2 to you.

Well, obviously I wasn't personally involved in the cock-up, Southey. :animatedf:

It was a combination of Pitman not shooting in the first place (he's a great finisher - he's one-on-one - just put it away FFS!) - and the inexperienced Viv Solomon-Otabor deciding to sprint in-front of the ball for the pass. Bonkers.

Don't suppose it happens too often that a player qualifies for a promotion medal from both the sides promoted from a division in a single year. George Moncur goes into the final day knowing he can get a winner's medal whatever the results after 21 appearances for Barnsley and 13 for Luton.

I remember it happening with Danny Rose a few years back, just before he joined Pompey. He played for both Oxford and Northampton over the season, moving to the latter in Jan; both were promoted. Prestigious club though, no doubt!

Sebastian Bassong played for both us and Norwich when we were both promoted to the PL in 2015

Saw this, don’t know how accurate it is as I can’t be bothered to go and work it out but found it interesting. Our 18 is certainly correct.

Luton obviously far better at not slipping up against the poorer sides and putting them away.

Just found it interesting that other than yourselves and Barnsley, it’s an exact reverse of the top 5 - and Doncaster.
