In terms of biggest/highest quality clubs, it's clear who'll always be in the bottom two.

The biggest thing about one of the two clubs is the manager :fish: Quite the sizeable asset.

When does the football season start again?

At least then there's actual football to argue about, not the bollocks that this thread has descended into these last couple of pages.

Since when did Bristol city become the biggest thing since sliced bread?? Not two years ago, they were languashing at the bottom of the 3rd tier, with a ramshackle of a ground. Suddenly 1 Promotion, and a lick of paint, and they are giving the big one!!

For all your over confidence, you'll soon find out this league is not as easy as you are all thinking. Not for one minute do I think you'll go down, but it won't be the stroll in the park you are making out.

And on the Evans/Cotterill debate. Come on, do you really see Cotterill in Evans bracket? It wouldn't suprise me if you were bottom half and he got the bullet at your place. Whereas the only way Evans will leave Rotherham, is for a bigger club.

Hardly proclaiming we're "the biggest thing since sliced bread", bit OTT. Only stating we'd be better off than your lot, hardly giving it the big one fella. Not at all that long ago you were in League 2.

For all your over confidence, you'll soon find out this league is not as easy as you are all thinking. Not for one minute do I think you'll go down, but it won't be the stroll in the park you are making out.

If any City fan said it'd be a stroll in the park, I'd disagree totally. It's one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.

And on the Evans/Cotterill debate. Come on, do you really see Cotterill in Evans bracket? It wouldn't suprise me if you were bottom half and he got the bullet at your place. Whereas the only way Evans will leave Rotherham, is for a bigger club.

Be careful when you say bigger club, Evans could end up leaving you for a League 2 club :hypo:

Overall, anybody would be stupid to underestimate the quality and 'closeness' in this league. I will be honest and say that unless your lot add quality, it will definitely be a struggle for you guys.

I personally believe that we'll make some good or better signings and improve our squad and not just simply add to it. On the back of such an excellent season and a formidable squad ethic/morale, we should be continuing to push on as we've got some momentum to hit the ground running. With Steve Lansdown, he'll back us all the way in the transfer market.

One of the biggest factors of our achievements (last season) was a strong pre-season when we went to Botswana. Another overseas (closer to UK) pre-season visit in Europe (mooted to be Portugal) will hopefully help us get going. And it'll be a promising lead up to the season where we should match or better the qualities this league already has. Rather than just keep our heads above the level, I expect us to compete.

The thing is with RUFC, we know we only have to tweak the squad to be better off than last year. You guys are coming into the unknown for many of your players. From what I saw of Flint, when Dicko gave him the runaround 18 months ago, he'll certainly struggle with the step up. We now have 12/13 proven Championship players, and have shed the ones who couldn't quite make the step up with us. Evans knows his targets, and the club are talking publicly about a top 12 finish.

I wouldn't be as brash to say we will gatecrash the top 12, but i'm more than confident we'll have a better points tally than last season. It was a steep learning curve compared to 9 years ago when we were last at this level.

NYS is a difficult place to come for many teams, and an improvement in our away form will hopefully see us have a nother fantastic Season on this Rollercoaster. With Evans in charge, anything is possible.

Looking for a top twelve finish, certainly pushing the boat out there!

The Flint of 18 months ago is a lot different to that of today, also you make it sound like we've never been at this level, we were here 2 years ago.

I suppose we will all see in 10 months time. I'd suggest it's not going to be as easy for Bristol as many think to finish above RUFC. Good luck!

On the subject of championship experienced players, how many of Brentford's were experienced championship players? Same the last time we got promoted, it comes down to how well your squad copes/adaptes to life in the new division. Many people saying we'll find out what this league is about and how hard etc, yeah we remember it was 2 years ago we were in the division, and it was Sean O'Driscoll who had us where we were in league 1. The change of formation and style under Cotterill saw immediate improvement (so much so that on a points per game basis over the whole season would have been near or in the play offs).

Being honest when you look at the likely candidates for relegation 2 types stick out, the ones who just avoided relegation and the promoted teams. I believe we are the best equipped promoted team to stay up (less reliance on loan players which don't need to be replaced in promotion campagin) but not saying our current squad would find it easy, we do need to strengthen areas. Then from teams who stayed up near bottom, for me personally Rotherham stick out as the candidates, not to say if you don't strengthen you can't do well but all the other teams will be trying to do so as well.

IMO at this very stage, if we finish below you, we'd be going down.

It was only 3 years ago when you were 'languishing in the 4th tier with a ramshackle of a ground' and holding buckets outside of your stadium to save your club from going bust. The irony of this post is incredible. There is only one club's fans on here giving it the billy big bollocks after just staying up, and none of them were here when they were losing every week for the other 7 months of the season, and it aint Bristol City fans.

Also Rotherham have 12/13 Championship standard players do they? Please list them for us.

3 years ago we had just moved into NYS and hadn't held buckets for 5 years.

Nice Try though.

Kari Arnason.
Kirk Broadfoot.
Richard Wood
Lee Frecklington
Paul Green
Richie Smallwood
Jordan Bowery
Danny Ward
Matt Derbyshire
Jonson Clarke-Harris

That's 10 (I never said 12/13) and only 3 or 4 them will be starters.

In which post of mine have I given it the big show? All RUFC a supporters are trying to do is defend their club. Look at the prediction thread. 75%+ of supporters have us bottom or in the bottom 3.

The point I was making to the Bristol Supporter, is you don't see RUFC fans giving it large like they are, when we have both come from the same place. And I haven't missed a game for 3 consecutive seasons, so i don't see how you can say we wern't supporting them when we were losing every week. We averaged 10,500 in a ground that can only accomodate 11,700 so we were pretty much at full capacity. Hence why we are looking to extend the Stadium.

Frazer Richardson, Kirk Broadfoot, Richard Wood, Kari Arnason, Richie Smallwood, Lee Frecklington, Paul Green, Danny Ward, Matt Derbyshire. So theres 9 without a doubt. Then you could add Adam Collin, Jordan Bowrey to that list and with a Managerial team which must be the most successful in the Football League over the last 5 years, then you can see the cause for optimism.

As Evans has said, certain people don't want Rotherham United at this level. But we'll just keep up proving people wrong, and showing that we deserve to be here, no matter what anyone else believes.

I said name Championship standard players, not any of the rabble that are under contract to you. I wouldn't touch any of those shit players with a barge pole, and I doubt anyone in this division would either.

I haven't seen City fans 'giving it large', from what I've seen City fans saying we could finish mid table with a couple of good additions, which considering how well Wolves (we got 4 points less then them when comparing how many points they won the league with) and Brentford did in their first season in the championship, its not a unrealistic thing to think could happen.

Hopefully not, just a case of what happens when there's little going on, no mens world cup or euros or anything to talk about.

Seriously, Richard Wood? Fuck off add Bowery and Collin to that list an'all.

Did "Championship standard" Dick Wood end up being relegated to the 4th tier recently? Also Broadfoot and Richardson are tosh.
