I've already covered myself on this thread by saying that we'll probably draw or lose, don't worry :2thumb:

Its all still open. If (big if) we win our game in hand, we're on same points/same games played. We've both to play Shef Utd. If we both win that it drags them back. Then we can't discount Rochdale/Barnsley either. Limited places open, but in terms of who could take them its going to go down to the last day.

I certainly wouldn't like to have your next two fixtures. Preston and Bristol.

We have Crewe and Barnsley. One we SHOULD win, the other will be a close affair, but we're decent on the road, and it depends how Barnsley react to their first loss under Johnson.

If you get through your next two relatively unscathed, you'll be in a very strong position. However, on paper, we could also quite easily have 7 points on you by the time you have that game in hand.

It's going to be as tight as a ducks arse, that's for sure.

Rubbish ... this isn't nearly over. No-one's realistically going to win all their remaining games ....

Exactly. We would pretty much have to win all of our remaining games to make it.

Cool ... then it really is just down to us, Bradford and Rochdale. I'll relax :)

You're in a pretty strong position with 6 to play. And if you were to make it, I would fancy you to spring a surprise.

3 games ago we were looking downwards and trying to dig our nails in to mid table.

Winning our last 3 games, with the same squad - We're now arguably seen as the 'favourite' for 6th. It's a crazy league. Never completely give up. We're all as shit as each other.

Let's face it, whoever finishes 5th/6th is gonna get dicked in the playoffs anyway so i refuse to get too excited.

I'm working on the basis we'll be overtaken over the course of the next 3-4 games.

Everything in me convinces me that we'll blow it.

But I can tell you something, who ever takes that other spot with United, MK Dons and probably Swindon.. Will go in with no fear, and the rest will be having nightmares of going out to the 'shit team'. I'm sure us, Rochdale, Barnsley, Bradford or Peterborough would thrive on that role.

The chances of us winning 9 games in a row is pretty slim never mind the 3 we've managed so far, so it's down to who cocks up the least....

That won't be necessary for anyone. A win and defeat over two legs can get you Wembley, with a draw plus penalty win perfectly good at Wembley for whoever gets there.

I was counting the 3 we've just won and the 6 games we've got left.

Just had a closer look at the table and the fixtures that us,bradford, chessie and rochdale have left. I dont think anyone below that will catch sheff utd or certainly shouldnt do. And all 4 of us have pretty tough fixtures. I said yday we shouldnt blow a playoff spot but if bradford win there game in hand at scunny then them and chessie are only 4 points behind and both still have to come to the lane. From our point of view we do really need to be getting 7 points out of next 3 games against donny(h) , oldham and yeovil away. That should see us into a commanding position going into the last 3 games.

We could really do with six points from Crewe & Colchester at home if we're serious about 6th. Hopefully Bristol City are home and hosed by the time they come and will be relaxed about the event .

We will also need at least a point at Oldham I think which won't be simple. Barnsley next week is likely to be absolutely crucial - avoiding defeat will be a top result.

Ideally it'd be nice to go to Sheffield United on the final Sunday with 6th sewn up and nothing to worry about but that is a big outside bet at this stage.

Plenty of twists and turns to come - knowing us we'll lose tomorrow, induce doom & gloom once again and then win at Barnsley.

You did and were, along with Swindon, comfortably the best sides seen at our place this season with Preston not far behind.

I'd be more confident of beating you at your place than at home - you'd probably agree?

I am surprised you say that as we were on the backfoot most of the time at your place. Defensively we were brilliant, attacking wise not so but we ground out the 0-1 win like we have many times away from home.

I do not want to play whoever finishes 6th to be honest, be it you or anyone because they will be the form team (probably) and we will have had the disappointment of missing out on the automatic promotion places. We have been there before, in the 2006/2007 season we finished 4th in League Two and played 7th placed Shrewsbury Town who finished 13 points behind us...they won...in the 2008/2009 season we finished 3rd and played 6th placed Scunthorpe United who were 11 points behind us...they won.

In 1990 Chesterfield sneaked into the final fourth division play off spot on the last day via goal difference.

Then hammered a Stockport side who'd finished a shit load of points above us.

John Beck's Cambridge beat us at Wembley thanks to a single Dion Dublin header (from a corner that should've been a goal kick. Though we're not dwelling on it or owt...) but the point is previous form can mean nowt whilst all the expectation and pressure is on the higher placed outfits.

We're cool no matter what happens over the next few weeks.

I think we've shook it for the play-offs now, not in the sense we're 4 points behind but in the sense that a run of good form is usually followed by a bad one. With some of the teams we've got to play (Chesterfield, Posh, Bradford, Rochdale) we've got a chance, but I'll be very surprised if the players' can recover so quickly from yesterday's damaging defeat.

Still, the fact I'm in this thread rather than the relegation one is a testament to how well we've recovered (so far) from Wilson's tenure. Suppose I should be grateful for that. For what it's worth, I think Bradford will end up in 6th.

I still think we have a slight chance of play offs as we still have to play play off contenders such as Sheff Utd, Rochdale and Fleetwood and with our fantastic away record and playing Scunthorpe last game of the season when we always beat them I don't think we're out of it yet
