Taking the other approach and just staying in Nottingham until the last train, not even going to try finding somewhere to drink in Mansfield. Mind you there was like two people on the bar in the away end last year so trying to get owt there probably ain't going to work.

Grimsby kicked off quite a lot at Notts a few weeks before I think, which probably explains some of the overkill for your game. Still nuts, mind.

They just seem to blow everything ridiculously out of proportion. It's sad.

The other lesson that Notts police didn't heed was last season at meadow lane, what was there 2,800 Mansfield fans on a Friday night, been in town since lunch time.

Was there any trouble at all!? Oh yeah, no.

Was having a great chat with a few county lads and stuff, was a cracking day. Why the police seem to think that maybe 1% of fans - maybe not that, represent all of us is a true shame.

Notts police are convinced we have a proper firm now. That's what guides a lot of their decisions with regards to policing us

I've seen the roadsiders before (not impressive, they just sang about cockneys for about 2 hours and rolled in steaming drunk), not sure if this is a new firm old boys or what but Notts police think they are pwopa nawty

Me and SFL are on this one. Any Clownty scum fancy a straightener give me a bell

In all seriousness, I shall be making the trip from Sheffield. Last time I went to field mill the stags lost 0-1 to Yeovil, hopefully they have got better since

Didn't expect that! Clownty looked reasonably good first half, seemed to have a threat up front and I think they shaded it. Second half there was only one team in it, especially after we went 1-0 up. A brief fightback after the equaliser but we defo deserved the win overall. The away fans went really quiet until they equalised, then seemed to drift away when we went in front. Did the bogs get destroyed again?

A far better Notts side to last season's effort. Notts much the better for first half hour, Stags much the better the second half. The Green and Henderson substitutions making the difference, though a poor quality affair.

I expect both sides to finish top half, though wouldn't dare predict anything more ambitious.

Fair play to the Stags, they came out second half and went for it. We have a problem in centre mid, there's no energy there to boss the game and we are capable of some catastrophic defensive lapses, which is a pity, as we are an organised team with potential to win these kinds of games.
Have to say it was a bloodless affair for a derby. No complaints about the result though.

Poor quality game - can't remember any chances (apart from goals) other than Forte forcing a save from Shearer in the first half and both teams hitting woodwork once. Mansfield not much better than us but probably shaded it based on the fact they seemed to be first to most things second half.

Criminal we couldn't see the game out at 1-1 (and let Darius f*cking Henderson score) - and what the f*ck was Tootle doing for the penalty? Absolutely disgraceful challenge to make in the area (not even trying to prevent a certain goal or anything) at that point in a game.

County were the best side I've saw in this season in the first half, genuinely impressed, good movement and a decent plan.

It's a standard that Mansfield will take 3 points from Notts 3rd club, but if I were county fan I'd be annoyed that the subs cost them the game (IMO) and we looked a different side after green came on. That stead went off was odd

The game in general was poor, that stead and the black lad with a ponytail were subbed seemed to baffle the home fans.

The penalty was obvious, the one 5 Minutes before should have been obvious from space, green tucked it away nicely. There was a strong shout 5 minutes beforeband

The subs most definitely didn't cost us the game

Well either they were the wrong subs to bring on or adam (somehow) out-thought your manager. It was one the 2.

Hey? We were losing 1-0 and completely ineffective when the subs were made, managed to get it back to 1-1, and would have taken a point were it not for a ridiculous challenge in the box in the 90th minute. I'm not saying the subs made us particularly better, but they definitely didn't make us any worse and certainly didn't cost us the game

That's just what we saw, which of course could easily be wrong,

The lad with the ponytail in midfield was good (from our perspective)

Unlike other seasons when you guys have been absolutely hopeless, you were a good and organised side, certainly not one to worry about relegation. It's only from 1 game but given the run maybe a playoff tilt could be possible.

I guess Mansfield beating county is as obvious as the sun rising in the morning. We were lucky today, very lucky.

Having seen the goals now, I agree you were lucky to get the points in the end - the challenge by Tootle was an absolute shocker, what the hell was he thinking?

Now I don't think that we were that lucky. Notts completely dominated the first 25 mins - half of the Sky highlights package is dedicated to it and Stags fans wouldn't have had any complaint to see the game gone after that period. However, we got stronger as the half wore on and second half I felt that there was only us that looked like winning.

As Adam mentioned, the foul on Henderson a couple of minutes before the penalty was an absolutely nailed on spotkick - the Notts defence stood still, Hendo nipped in and was taken out - bizarre that the officials seemed to miss it at a crucial stage of the game.

I expect both teams to get stronger as the season goes on, and to someone who has only seen our neighbours play once, it looks like Sheridan has already gone a long way to turning around last season's shocking County side.

Annoying from perspective but I'm nowhere near as fucked off as last season. Could've gone either way if not for a crazy challenge in the box at the end.

Thought we played the neater football throughout and completely dominated the first half but it was a derby game that came down to fight and heart in the end and, fair play, Mansfield had it. They won every tackle once it went 1-1.

Over a whole season I think we'll prove to be a better team but, whatever Murray is doing overall, he can clearly get a team really motivated for a derby game - fair enough.

Also don't think the subs were to our detriment - Oliver, in particular, was way more of a threat than Stead was.

I had my heart in my mouth when Oliver tried the overhead kick at 1-1, thought he was destined to take the piss at the last moment.

How can something so right go so wrong !!
First 30 mins should have been all over, Murray tweaked to go even more ultra defensive to get in at half time 0-0

Round two, stags come out even more fired up (does Murray feed em a line of Bolivian marching powder at half time ?) anyway sub on
ladyluck strikes with a wicked deflection and you can feel the confidence coursing through there veins the bars rattled and mansfield are well on top, three subs for Notts Rodman fires in through the goalie and defender and stags are hanging on by fingernails, time stands still as Oliver tries an overhead that misses by a whisker.
Its implosion time on the clock and the game finishers in the same shocking fashion the last time I wore my legends of the lane 'Stubbs shirt' away at Gillingham.
On the way to Mansfield my brother said "wouldn't it be nice to stuff them for revenge" I said "expect to be defeated then you won't be disappointed if we are" we were and I was.

It made a refreshing change to see a decent Notts county at field mill, once that in hindsight should have won the game in the first half.

I sound like a broken record at times, but adam HAS TO STOP being so defensive at home, it simply isn't working, nor playing to the strengths to a Mansfield side who should have a realistic shot at the playoffs of the squad is utilised properly.

We became a different team when green came on, and even more so when we eventually went 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 after county equalised, though both goals in injury time came due to ridiculously amateur defending.

Certainly an afternoon dominated by the subs, and more than a little luck at times for Mansfield.
