I think if we were going to sack him then he'd have gone already. The board clearly think he's someone that could be very good for us long term and so, rightly or wrongly, are prepared to stick with him in the hope he can ride it out.

I've always liked Johnson and really thought it could work out (and crazily still kind of do). When it's been good it's been very good. First 9-10 months of his spell were great, just since we've hit a bad patch he's been incapable of turning it around. But you look at how we played even at Derby first half and think if we could, what could still be..

But I have to say, it's hope rather than expectation at this point.

We have had it if Lee J stays in the job but like others, I cannot see Steve L / Ashton admitting they've made a mistake.
We're doomed. :(

This is going to sound rather crude but I have to ask the question... How bad is Tammy's injury? :animatedf:

Not sure yet, he's gone for a scan. I'm sure all fans of teams down the bottom will join us in wishing him a speedy recovery, no one likes to see a player get injured :hypo:

He himself reckons it's pretty bad. Taylor's scored two in two but from what I've seen of him his all round play as a front man isn't as good as Abraham's and he certainly can't do the role on his own.

Absolutely, but I'd hate to see such a bright young prospect rushed back at risk of his long term wellbeing. It's vital that he takes as much time as possible to recover..

Haha. Wigan, Burton, QPR and Blackburn fans would have to be delighted if he's out for the season. I don't really buy this "wouldn't wish injury on a player" nonsense, obviously it's not nice but I'd sacrifice an injured player for an opposing team if it meant it gave my team a better chance of surviving.

This. Less of an issue than it might have been a month ago but obviously a massive blow if he's out for a while.

And with him or no, we've looked better with a top 2 in recent weeks. Him and Taylor or Taylor and Djuric. Drop Tomlin

I like how we are responsible for the start of your demise and possibly sending you lot back to where you belong. ;)

Ours is even worse. Out of the 17 games we've lost (League and Cup) this season only 3 have been by more than one goal. Out of the past 15 it's only one game. Very fine margins.

Bristol City remind me of Reading last season. After hitting 2nd in mid-October, looking good for the playoffs comfortably beating Middlesbrough and Burnley, we were then in relegation form for the remainder of the season (picking up fewer points in the final 6 months than all but 1 team), and only stayed clear because of the poor quality at the bottom of the league. We were also very much reliant on one goalscorer (Nick Blackman..). We also had a change in manager mid-season that made minimal impact. Fresh start in the Summer with manager and players and doing far better.. There's hope out there.

I compared our season to yours of last the other day. The only difference is that you made a managerial change in the summer; we won't do. I don't think we need a squad overhaul, a couple of full backs and another 20 goal striker and we'll be good to go, providing Johnson isn't here.

QPR will be fine, best team we've played recently and now got a strong plan B with Matt Smith.

Although saying that, I thought Rotherham looked alright last night too :animatedf:

Our problem is that we are playing well, but losing. We battered Blackburn and even scored a legitimate goal, yet manage to lose 1-0. Now that takes some doing.

Michael Kightly again for Burton! It's just ridiculous that he's playing for them, and it could well get us relegated. Another chance to get out the bottom three on Tuesday but I don't fancy our chances against QPR who we never beat.

Burton do everything we don't do and that'll probably be the difference in the end. They win their home games (unlike us) and score goals (unlike us). Need a favour from Derby on Tuesday.

Could have done with Preston winning today; though a 0-0 isn't catastrophic. Need Derby and QPR to win on Tuesday now though - and obviously we need to win on Friday or we'll be in serious trouble.

They are our next 6 games. I'm not one for overreacting but if we were to continue our form then surely we will get dragged into a relegation battle. Rotherham and Bristol city are the ones I'm looking at maybe three points, and then there is one or two draws I can maybe see. Anything less than 4 points from them and we are in trouble. Surely 4 points is not asking a lot? That's providing the teams below us don't start picking up points. That Rotherham game could be huge.
I expect 6 minimum, Bristol City and Rotherham. Think we'll manage something V Derby too as they've gone a bit shit recently. The other three? No chance.

Terrible form, very low confidence, can't win away, shit scared of playing at home, shit defence, can't score, manager who don't seem to know what to do. Don't think we will go down but forget promotion or the play offs next season.

I still think if we survive (as we should) and keep hold of Bruce, we'll be in the mix for promotion next season regardless. We're effectively having pre-season during the season here due to the sheer amount of signings we've made.

Yeah, Bruce will get you up eventually, got to stick with him. You won't go down, the shit teams in this league are really shit and you'll pick up enough points off them.

It was never going to just click immediately when you chuck a load of players in together, doesn't work like that.
