Fair point... Southampton and Norwich took a while though, Wolves did the best thing. But I hate to bring up the Leeds issue, but that's an example of League 1 doing a bad thing for ex-Premier League sides. It doesn't always work, though I will admit, recent history bodes well.

Sunderland needed a 'miracle' last season and there are hopes of the same again this time round but I just cannot see it happening.

Hull are the biggest worry to drop. Unless QPR or Burnley pick up, you'll survive by default.

Well we've got Burnley, QPR, Sunderland and Newcastle all still to play. The bottom 4 form sides in the division. Conceivably just getting draws against QPR and Burnley to keep them below us could be enough as Hulls goal difference looks set for an absolute battering in the run in. Gonna have a look at the odds on us to stay up now.

We need to beat Leicester. Anything less than 3 points then I think we're doomed.

Matchday 33:
Crystal Palace 0-2 West Brom
Aston Villa 3-3 QPR
Arsenal v Sunderland
Hull City v Liverpool
Leicester 2-0 Swansea
Everton 1-0 Burnley

Table:
15.Aston Villa 32 pts -21
16.Sunderland 29 pts -23 (-1)
17.Hull City 28 pts -16 (-1)
18.Leicester 28 pts -17 (-1)
19.QPR 26 pts -21
20.Burnley 26 pts -25

Run-in:
Aston Villa: Man City (a), Everton (h), West Ham (h), Southampton (a), Burnley (h).
Sunderland: Stoke (a), Southampton (h), Everton (a), Leicester (h), Arsenal (a), Chelsea (a).
Hull City: Crystal Palace (a), Liverpool (h), Arsenal (h), Burnley (h), Tottenham (a), Man Utd (h).
Leicester: Burnley (a), Chelsea (h), Newcastle (h), Southampton (h), Sunderland (a), QPR (h).
QPR: West Ham (h), Liverpool (a), Man City (a), Newcastle (h), Leicester (a).
Burnley: Leicester (h), West Ham (a), Hull City (a), Stoke (h), Aston Villa (a).

I really don't get West Brom. They lose two home 6-pointers to QPR and Leicester and then go on and win at Crystal Palace who were on 4 straight wins before that game. Anyway, that win puts West Brom over Newcastle (6 defeats on the trot! I know I said they won't go down but they must do something to stop the rut!) and thus I'm discounting West Brom to go down. I doubt Villa will go down either actually. Their run-in isn't too kind and playing an FA Cup final can be a distraction but the players look well up for it.
Not much else happened this weekend due to Arsenal and Liverpool having FA Cup commitments. Leicester got a massive win at home to Swansea though which puts them just a goal from safety.

Matchday 34:
Man City v Aston Villa
Stoke v Sunderland
Crystal Palace v Hull CIty
Burnley v Leicester
QPR v West Ham

Too close to call at the moment. Think Villa are just about safe and Newcastle have enough points to avoid going down so it's between Leicester, Qpr , Burnley, Hull and us and to be honest I'm not all that bothered if we go down.

I think Villa and Newcastle are safe. QPR are the only side I really would like to see go down. I'd prefer Burnley and Leicester stay up to Sunderland since they've been around the league for awhile and don't seem too ambitious to improve. Leicester is the team I'd like to see survive the most, and I think they will. They play football I enjoy watching, have a likable side and manager, and have a quality fanbase. I'd like to see how they do with a couple seasons of PL football (and money!). Ditto for Burnley and Sean Dyche, but I don't think they'll stay up.

Sunderland, Burnley, and QPR to go down.

Ahh, I hadn't checked their fixtures. They're doomed, unfortunately. I prefer them to Sunderland, but I'll change Sunderland to Hull. Really hoping Burnley makes it interesting. It'd be brilliant if QPR went down while Leicester and Burnley survived.

Would be sad to see Hull go down, I like Steve Bruce. Also would like to think Leicester's style will keep them up. Sunderland, QPR and QPR again going down would be a good outcome.

I don't think they can be relegated twice in the same season.

Would be nice. I just want to see if the FL follow through with their threat and deny QPR entry...

Hull are going down surely?

Yep. Can't see a way out, especially with a resurgent Leicester. IF Hull were to escape, this weekend's game against Palace and the game against Burnley look like the only reasonable chances of victories left, and saying Palace away is a 'reasonable' chance is really stretching it.

Mixed emotions, relegation will put paid to Allam's dastardly 'Tigers' scheme I hope. Bruce has historically struggled to spend money well and it looks like the case again, although we have had some terrible injury problems this season. Diame has been a major loss for most of the season.

We're not out of it yet, but hella more confident about staying up now.

Edit: Could someone make my signature pic smaller please?

Massive 3 points for Leicester and a huge 3 points for Hull City. Sunderland drop into the relegation zone despite picking up a point away to Stoke.
Newcastle lose yet again, but they should be safe. Should be.

Everyone else still think Newcastle are safe? Only 5 points above the drop now and 4 of the 6 teams below them have a game in hand. Leicester away next for Newcastle. Wish i'd put more than a quid on at a hundred to 1 for them to go down

Barring a miracle, we're gone. It's been a case of small margins all season, and today epitomised that.

In too many games we have been close, but not close enough.

I'd like QPR to go down, but not really bothered after that.

Yeah you need really 3 wins from your remaining four and of those you need to make sure of maximum points against Hull and Villa. As Leicester still have to play Sunderland and QPR regardless of the results the safety zone will be further off than it is now. Best thing for Burnley now would be Leicester to win those 6 pointers to keep QPR and Sunderland only just above you, and then have Hull and Villa go on an absolute shitter and not pick up any more points. That gives you a target of 32 which is the wins vs those two clubs, which'd put you above Hull and equal with Villa, then a win in either Stoke or WHam to stand a chance. You really needed Hull to have a stinker today, but on paper (the place where the best football is played!) their only remaining fixture that looks winnable is against you. Saying that they also have Liverpool who are on a shit run of form.
I think Villa isn't happening, so you need to hope Leicester do really well, Hull do really shit and you do better than you've done all season.
Erm, good luck!

PREDICTIOOOONNSSSSSS

18. Sunderland.
yea just flipping finally go down please thx
19. QPR
Just look at the table, most teams within grasp of them have a game in hand, so QPR are screwed.
20. Burnley
Must admit would've been great if you'd have stayed up, but it looks like it's just not gonna happen. Were always gonna go down TBH.

Thanks JimJams, you've really made me feel better about our prospects.

I don't know why I was being so pessimistic.

Don't worry Pyeman, at least you'll be able to visit the lovely Ashton Gate next season, aye?

QPR and Burnley are down, imo.

Newcastle are in serious trouble. On a very slippy slope.
