when we have a manager, about a dozen new players and a new kit
Oh yeah good point. Askey should be done this week I reckon.

As long as they don't pick a synectics green home shirt.

Askey should be confirmed in the next 48 hrs hopefully, followed by a retained list. I'm wondering who our kit suppliers will be?

Kit will be sorted surely as usually done months before.

I wouldn't be too sure unless CG has been given a free hand on it. I wouldn't mind errea returning, and hopefully a better sponsor? ......maybe Synetics on the shirt?

Green away kit then yeah?

To be fair Garlick has took unfair stick. He was massively handicapped as he barely knew what was going on above him.

Carol and Kevin seem to be praising him. Think he will come good now. Love how Mike is going to be based at Vale next few weeks at their blessing to cover the new project. Transparency!

20 years of pure utter shit with V2001 and Smurf hopefully finally I can just enjoy the football and not be worrying about our future all the time. Just to focus on the next match. I really thought we’d never get rid of him.

Emotional just listening to this:

Two great people who’ve put it all into saving us. Great story of why they did it too.

Askey confirms he has been offered a deal and it’s in negotiation and wants to stay. He’s decided the retained list also and had it agreed by Carol, Kevin and Garlick so should see things move forward now.

Happy with that, slow start but he turned us around in terms of how we were playing, fitness and creating chances. Despite losing the first four against mainly bottom sides once he got the fitness right for the high press he wanted to use we soon clicked and pulled away from danger.

Glad for Vale fans that they have got Smurthwaite out of the club and have new owners that are Vale fans first and foremost.

First thoughts, are that they look very different to your usual football club owners, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They look more like lottery winners! I hope that they are going to bring in some people that will help and support them as I am sure running a football club is not easy and you can't just jump into it feet first.

Next season will be an interesting one for Vale, I wonder what kind of budget can be offered etc.

they have expertise in their business which I'm sure they will harness, and we have retained our Cheif Executive, who has been running the club for a while. Budget wise I think it will be a top half package with the emphasis on quality not quantity, unlike the last few seasons.

They do and are great characters, listening to them having a dig at each other it's quite funny.

They are very good business people though behind that. Synectics has won all sorts of awards for business excellence and they do work for governments etc across the world so have a good team behind them. They've had their facilities guys already looking at the ground for example in terms of repairs etc.

I think looks can be deceiving. Carol is very switched on and determined. Kev less so I reckon but may be someone to bounce ideas from. I have heard that despite the 'happy couple'/united front they are putting on they are very much separated and have lived apart for some time. Not that this should affect their running of the club, it certainly hasn't affected their business. It just reinforces my feeling that she is the driving force behind it and will be the leader here, which I am very happy about.

Also, I don't think you have to be a genius to get the simple things right. There's plenty of complete morons in charge of clubs up and down the land who seem to make it work ok, so people with a god grasp of business and decent interpersonal skills and integrity should be well set to manage.

By making sure all non-football relating revenue and other matchday revenues go back into the development of the club, by giving the old place a lick of paint and getting sponsors on side to maximize the corporate side of the things (we have a huge number of boxes, corporate areas compared to your average L1/L2 club) then we'll be happy and we'll do fine.

Excellent fans forum with Kev and Carol tonight, all 250 tickets went in hours so was streamed thankfully.

Few things discussed...

All finances will be openly available to fans of the club, transparency is key and something they’ve done next door at Synectics.

Budget will be mainly similar this year to last however this will be on a smaller squad basis rather than the crazy squad sizes of recent seasons.

Last year our budget was 10th in the league until January when the terrible transfer window saw us drop to 13th.

When asked how big the task of repairing the club is Kevin’s response was “it’s a little large my friend”

Huge list to work through, ground improvements, experience, Tommy Cheadles etc.

Final 400k Hugill instalment in January going to Smurf as part of the requirement for getting the deal through.

Hoping to make the Vale Social (club house) to be a community venue available non match days to increase revenue.

Spent an hour on the phone to Andy Holt (Accrington Chairman (anyone on Twitter will know why he’s so popular!) Great advise.

Other businesses such as Autonet offering to support the club.

Garlick reminded everyone to be patient and realise this season will be a learning curve for everyone to keep grounded.

Won’t do shares and as Vale fans have taken enough risks and losses in previous regimes and deserve a break from physical risks.

BLK ditched as kit supplier due to issues... fans want the black and gold away kit as a symbol (traditionally our away kit colours down most seasons until recent years)

Catering now back under Vale control and will see funds back into club.

Overall positive and the atmosphere amongst the fan base is buzzing after years of downfall and oppression.

Loving the genuine attitude of Kevin (who’s hilarious) and Carol.

Personally I harp back to Good Friday 2018 when we played Chesterfield, must win cruising when Pugh got sent off and they equalised before Whitfield’s stunner late on... walking away from the ground I thought I was going to have a heart attack I was shaking such had it got to me.... I was 32! (Believe a fan actually did) that pretty much sums up how bad and worrying it had become. All that history seemed to be ebbing away, this season was more off the field, we looked bleak for a couple of weeks but never as close to danger overall, the danger then was what Smurf would do once we finally said we’d had enough and thankfully the fight was short and successful, the help of Blackpool fans was huge and when you look at what they and the likes of Coventry have had to endure to get rid of theirs we’ve come out pretty unscathed swiftly.

Overall now I want to see a change in football. The ownership at many clubs is showing that change is needed. Rules should be in place by the EFL that grounds can’t be split from clubs, better checks on owners and financial controls by the EFL/FA need to come in. We’ve been lucky some clubs are hanging in the balance and histories could become memories.

Sadly I feel only the death of a bigger club will only force change with the governors of our game.

The Germans have it spot on... surely we can.

Reading this makes me incredibly jealous. We currently have no CEO, no Chairman, no board, just an owner who hasn't paid the players on time since December last year and hasn't paid the player's their salaries for April. Oh yeah, and he also shut down a whole stand where people have been sitting/standing for 20 years because he wanted it to himself.

Change can happen... look what we had 9 days ago! Threats of admin, a club on the decline and an order who admitted he was dead to the club.

the support we received from other fans was massively appreciated especially the Stags on our red card day who generally got involved in their droves.

Just please don’t let your guard down, Alan Hardy was a successful businessman who was a fan of the club too.

I’m not saying it’s going to happen, it’s almost certainly isn’t but always keep your guard up.

Best of luck to Vale.

Whilst they're going down the 'raise moral and please the fans' type of talk, you want to be pushing for fan representation on the Board if it isn't already there.

They are fans themselves technically but they are working closely with Mark Porter from the Supporters Club. We've been burnt twice including by a supporters group so our trust will need to be earned over time but these are the guys we've wanted so its on us now to back them by buying season tickets and coming back.

Can't believe you managed to survive in spite of this. For that much kudos has to go to Sol Campbell.

Ps. Does this mean we can have Durrell?
