16-13 at the mid session interval. Just about in touch.

Ding just won't go away will he, some unbelievable pots in that frame. He's just so good into the middle pockets.

Right on cue, here's a Selby special frame. Hendry isn't impressed by this is he.

Selby in amongst the balls. At least it looks as though I can get my beauty sleep.

Wrong winner for me tonight.

Ding can hold his head up high.

Ding has gained a lot of admirers. Selby has lost them.

Long term gains.
Boom! Get in there, Selby's won me a fortune down the years, he can be as boring as he likes if it keeps winning me money :D

Selby was never behind in the whole match, he's not good to watch but can't deny the guy is granite under pressure.

Selby was the better player though. I don't like his style but he did play well. I really warmed to Ding though. Pleased to see him get one step closer.

Better player won and overall I have nothing against Selby, but in some of the frames last night he was such a chicken shit protecting his leads it annoyed me. No chances taken whatsoever, and consistently turning down gettable shots in favour of safety. That's a drab variation of snooker for me.

That's kind of contradictory though. If he lost then fair point, but he won, so why take any chances if his way of playing earns success? From a neutral viewpoint, it would be more fun but he's not playing for anybody else. If I remember, you gave Trump a bit of stick (apologies if it was someone else) earlier in the tournament and one of the reasons was because of poor shot selection. He could do with taking a leaf out of Selby's book.

Firstly, apology accepted re Trump.

As for Selby the fact he won doesn't detract from my point. Yes, he won, but he did so towards the end playing fucking painful snooker. I certainly accept it's the way he plays but some of it was almost Ebdonesque and was frustrating to watch.

The fact that Ronnie O'Sullivan is by far the best snooker player there and is 10th in the world just shows his lack of respect for the game these days. How many tournaments has he played in the last 12 months in comparison to someone like Selby or Trump?

I'm another one who would hope my ticket at Crucible would not be for a Selby match but fair play to him the way he plays wins him a lot of money and will continue to do so for many years to come and no doubt more world titles.

Ding will have his time and would be tempted to stick money on him for next year if he is in good form.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but did anyone else watch the Northern Ireland Open final last night? Mark King won his first ranking tournament at his 319th attempt. Quite a revelatory interview after the game too.
