Nah. One decent teabag in a cup is more than enough for me, and I like strong tea. Push the spoon into the bag a 3-4 times and you're there. Doubling it would surely achieve very little unless you're in a rush and need it ready in less than 10 seconds.

Yorkshire Tea would be my choice out of the mass produced stuff. Wouldn't mind trying some of the more expensive brands to see if there is a difference mind.

I must admit to not having very strong (LMFAO) opinions on tea. Is having weak tea a sign of weakness in itself, if that's not too phisolophical a question?

I'm very slapdash when I make it. Chuck (never place) a tea bag in, then hot water on top, stir and a bit of milk. If I make a cup of tea for my wife and it's not near enough to the brim she says "The tide's out", and we all have a little chuckle.

I don't have much more to add on tea, sorry. It feels like the time I had a talk about rugby union with someone in the office. I can't adequately hold down a conversation on that topic either.

Anyone interested in craft teas? There's some amazing stuff out there these days. Bespoke blends, artisanal varieties, etc. So much nicer than the shit most people call 'tea'.

Always liked the authentic Chinese tea when I've had it. Such a pain to go through the proper ceremony every time though. And such small cups. Masala chai is amazing too. Do you put milk in your Earl Grey btw, Carel? I've not been doing and it's been pretty tasty let me tell you.

My favourite tea is rooibos, rather than traditional. Quite strong with a little bit of milk. Comes out the colour of Cuppa Cobana on that chart.

No milk in my Earl Grey - I'm not a savage. Funnily enough I once had a waiter at a 2 Michelin star restaurant apologise to me over this very issue, but that's a story for another time!

Interesting (but depressing) to read MNB's post upthread. Putting the milk in last is the wrong method. You should put the bag in with the milk, then the hot water - that way it forms an emulsion instead of a mixture. Much more depth of flavour, much better mouthfeel. It's sad that people just consume this mass market brown water like idiots, all because they saw some chimps on an advert. There's an entire amazing world of tea out there if people would just be willing to branch out and open up their palates.

I can't prove this definitively, so take it FWIW, but I have long suspected that the tea industry has been engaging a campaign of disinformation and manipulation broadly akin to that undertaken by the large tobacco firms - deliberately spreading lies about the nature of their products, perhaps even introducing harmful substances into their blends so as to negatively effect the brain-chemistry of the people that consume them, thus inducing the kind of stupor that turns individuals into hapless sheep that gleefully consume tasteless brown water by the hectolitre.

Sad, scary, and - in IMHO - true, because how else to explain a nation of so-called 'tea' lovers who actually only drink pure pap? But, hay, I'll stick to my Pu-Erh, you stick to your Poo-Err!

The "strong tea" brigade is a precise example of what I'm talking about (here MNB was actually correct - stopped clocks and all that).

It is my contention that the tea-industrial complex has deluded credulous idiots into conflating "strong" tea with a "strong" personality - a manifestation of masculinity, virility, power, etc. A convenient entanglement on their part, since their mass produced products are utterly without subtlety, delicacy and nuance. Who needs discernment, sophistication or a cultivated appreciation of the art of blending when one's forlorn taste buds can be bludgeoned into submission with an oversteeped brew instead?

I like strong tea, closest from that chart is Iron Brew.
My preference is Yorkshire tea brewed for approx 4 - 5 mins, 2 canderal tabs and milk, but not too much milk.

My sense of smell's almost absent so my taste isn't so good in turn, but I go a tinge darker than Mr T/Peanut Safari on that list. With almond milk too if I have the choice, which apparently doesn't lighten it as much. I'm not arsed though and will drink whatever proportion I get and whatever tea bag's at hand.

Only started drinking regular teas relatively recently. I'm normally into fruit/herbal unless I haven't had enough sleep, and find infusions containing orange/lemon the tastiest. Fresh leaves are a good treat too, as well as Turkish apple tea, or the stuff Pukka make.

I'm very thorough when it comes to the extraction of the tea, just doesn't do it for me. I am talking about the generic stuff like PG tips and Tetley though so could be that.
