Kryigos looked good today - and managed to keep his temper as well.

Dangerous match for Murray.

Shame Del Potro lost.

Come on Kyrgios. You've got the ability to take this, just don't act like a dick and throw it away.

Lets be real here, he doesn't have the ability right now to beat Murray if Murray is playing well.

Kyrgios not acting like a dick and throwing games away would make him competitive against the likes of Murray/Fed/Djok but if they're near the top of their game then it's not upto Kyrgios as to whether he can beat them.

Kyrgios' ill discipline coming into play here. The guy has bags of ability and is seriously entertaining but will not fulfill his potential unless he drops the immature antics and loses the moments of indiscipline.

Be interesting in 3 or 4 years time though when Murray and Djokovic are hitting 32-33 and Kyrgios is 25 odd whether he'll be the man then or whether somebody else will have taken the mantle. Whoever takes over won't be half as good as Murray/Djokovic/Federer

Or alternatively, start acting like a dick and throw it away.

Fuck him. He'll never be anything in tennis despite having great potential and ability. I've no sympathy.

Still Federer's to lose, Murray Federer final with the Swis taking it in 4. I recon he'll do it. One final massive push to take that record on his own.

You have to have something first before you can throw it away. And he's never been in with a sniff of winning this match.

Easy for Murray..

Not tested at all which was surprising.

Doubt Tsonga will give up so easily.

You don't actually believe that, do you? :dk:
Fed-Murray final both playing as well as they are capable right now and it's only ever Murray.

Whether it plays out that way, who knows, but top form against top form and it's Murray's.

Why shouldn't I? Federer appears to have an extra intensity this tournament, he knows it's his best shot of taking the record which won't be equalled any time soon.

Yeah, Federer beating Murray in 6 of their last 7 matches really backs that up, including their last two grand slam meetings and last year's Wimbledon semi-final in straight sets. :hypo:

Both at their best and Federer clearly comes out top and I reckon you will see this again in the final.

EDIT -- it's also worth pointing out that, in their last 5 meetings, Murray has won just 1 set, and that includes two grand slam best of five. It really makes me wonder why you're so surprised that I'm claiming it's Federer's to lose.

Exactly. All of Kyrgios' antics are to mask what's really happening. Him getting his arse handed to him by a superior player.

Other players do it as well, but they feign injury instead.

I actually put Federer as favourite in a Fed/Murray final. Murray often goes into his shell against him and lets Federer dictate which is the wrong move. Maybe with Lendl, he'll approach it differently and step in more but I'm not sure. I get the gut feeling this could be Federer's last hurrah.

Long way to go before we get to a Fed v Murray final lads! Fed probably edges it admittedly, but he hasn't really been tested this tournament yet, and Andy will test him to the maximum. We also have to remember that physically Federer hasn't been great recently and has been defeated fairly routinely by opponents you wouldn't expect, in the build up tournaments to Wimbledon. Anyway lets see how these rounds go first and see if a meeting comes to pass before we can discuss it fully; there could be more twists and turns ahead even before then.

I should have gone elaborated further. My "top form against top form" suggests in the here and now, not the last X (or XX  ) years. And on that variable, Murray has him in his back pocket.

I'm surprised by the responses above post Pagnell aswell.. I'm not a blind Murray fan- I support him as he's GB but I'm quick to judge when he's the underdog... based on this seasons form book he has a considerable edge. *shrugs* . Naturally they are both capable of beating each other, but if they're both hell for leather based on this season it's Murray in 4 IMO.

You really shouldn't be surprised. Federer has won their last five meetings, and clearly raises his game for Murray whilst the Scot seems to wilt under the superior touch and skill of Federer. Immediate form to a large extent goes out the window, you're putting too much emphasis on it for me. And any talk of Murray having Federer in his back pocket is ridiculous.

Of course none of this guarantees Federer a win, and I wouldn't claim it did. But it makes him favourite in a meeting between the two of them, and rightly so. I find your surprise about peoples view on this.....well, surprising.

Federer won't last five sets if it goes to that this time, guaranteed. Big questions over him physically will linger if Murray makes it a gruelling battle depending on his game plan.

Watching the Kerber v Halep match

It's a decent match but there were about 7 breaks of serve in the first set!

Thanks for letting us know.
Well since you only watch around Wimbledon it seems you won't know about Federer's issues over the last few months and seem to be ignoring Murray's consistency. ;)

Pagnell in claiming to know more than bookies shock horror! You stating him as favourite is just as out there as me remarking about the back pocket. You're either a fanboy of Fed or you have a distain for Murray, either way... somebody without bias puts Murray favourite which is why that's the general consensus with both the public & the bookies. Feel free to fact check that one, boss.
.....
So yeah... It's Murray's to lose.

Or one/both will fall in the QF/SF's...

My stating Federer as favourite in any upcoming Wimbledon match between the two is based on their head to head history, including their last five meetings, one of which was in the Wimbledon semi-final last year which he won in straight sets. How is that in any way as "out there" as claiming Federer is in Murray's pocket when there is no evidence to back that statement up? I'm also looking at Federer's intensity this tournament. He really wants to win it, you can see it in his body language. He knows it's probably his last realistic shot with Djok now out.

I presume you know how bookmakers work. Murray is British, therefore British people are more likely to have a cheeky flutter on him and his odds with British bookmakers will reflect that as they will have more to lose. Go elsewhere in the world and it will be different, it's how it works. I personally wouldn't read too much into the odds under such circumstances. You also have his current standing in the world rankings which is one spot higher than Federer.

All things taken into account, including Murray winning 1 of their last 7 meetings and losing all the last 5 and with the negative effect on the Scot's mindset that will inevitable have as they walk out on court, I don't believe it's unreasonable to say that it's Federer's to lose. But what started this debate off is that you acted like it was a stupid claim. It simply isn't, and if you examined the facts instead of William Hills latest odds you would see that, even if you might not agree. I don't even think a claim that Murray is favourite is stupid, I just don't agree with it for the reasons stated.

Let's just agree to differ and see what happens. As you state, it could be for nought as one or both could have a surprise semi final exit.

Murray is deserved favourite he has been more consistent and is higher ranked. Fed has had a tough year but does look good. Agreed all the value is in Fed as Murray is too short, Fed has the much better record. Murray has only ever won once on Grass against Fed. I think a lot could come down to the roof as well as Fed seems to like playing under the roof.

The bookies do work like that slightly but more so these days they follow the exchange money, and there is significantly more money on Murray than Fed and this isn't ppl having a simple flutter this is professional gamblers mostly.

Cilic serving in beast mode and just a hold away from going two sets up v Fed, so this seems as though it may become mute point.

Edit; 2-0 Cilic. Very comfortable, too.
