O'Shea not fancying it then?

I've got to go to Eden Hall Spa tomorrow so I can't watch Sam play tomorrow afternoon like I'd hoped. Hopefully he'll get through this time round.

Excellent performance from both players with a respectable crowd.

Once again excellent commentary from Vassos, looking forward to hearing Tony Green's soothing voice later.

O'Shea has been shite in recent years hasn't he? Plus is this a two horse race between Mitchell & Adams again?

Glen Durrant has won nearly every single tournament this year, I can't see past him. He's already confirmed this will probably be his last BDO WC.

Mitchell has had a very poor year really.

Ahh don't follow the BDO as closely as I once did way back in the day. Durrant is ready to go full time then is he? Nice to see Chuck visit his old friends too.

Didn't expect Paula Jacklin to get anywhere near Lisa Ashton, she's a superb player.

The Fitton/Harbour game was excellent and sums up why I really like the BDO. The PDC is brilliant for averages, atmosphere and fast near flawless darts on many occasions. But what you don't often get are the intimate tense matches between solid players who have the crowd right behind them. You kind of feel it really matters for them as well with it being their biggest tournament of the year by a mile. The PDC have so many big events with huge prize money these days which has devalued their World Championships a bit IMO. It's still a big deal but the likes of James Wade for example can retire tomorrow knowing he's still an 8 time major winner.

BDO gets a lot of stick but I love the intimacy of the event at this time of year. I'll be glued to it when I can this week as hopefully another couple of lesser known names get the moments they deserve.

Everything about this post is spot on apart from the PDC atmosphere bit.

I could do without irrelevant football chants and singing Phil Taylor's name when he's out of the bloody competition!

Give me a BDO crowd anyday

the quality of the top players in the PDC is superb but the earlier rounds are a lot more boring then the BDO.

I love the PDC and would always watch it over the BDO, but I have to mute it nowadays.

Gutted that we haven't been able to see this year's MvG against Anderson in the final.

I really hope Anderson and Lewis both play to their ultimate ability tonight, has the potential to be the best world final ever in terms of quality. If both of them are a bit below par, however, Anderson will walk it I reckon.

I want to like the BDO more, but it's just little things. The noise of the dart when it goes into the board sounds horrid on the TV, and the fact they don't have any scorers annoys me as well.

Is nobody watching the Darts final? it's a bloody awesome game with Anderson currently winning 6-5 in sets. There has been over 30 180's so far, incredible standard of Darts.

Anderson deserved it after that 170 which were amazing darts at that time of the match. Lewis will be kicking himself a bit, he had enough chances there.

The amount of missed doubles especially at crucial moments. How I miss The Power in his prime..

Good success for Anderson - just that bit more consistent.

Amazing that two players with excellent averages like that and it felt a little underwhelming after the past week we've been treated. Still, an excellent tournament and Anderson a deserved winner, genuinely couldn't happen to a nicer bloke really.

Already disagreed with Lee on this, but I wouldn't have had Thornton in the Premier League. Aside from a couple of good tournaments, he's had a very disappointing year and hasn't exactly hit the heights since 2013 really. I know Klaasen's only really finding his form again, but he's more explosive and exciting to watch than Thornton which is what you want in the Premier League really. Hell, I'd have given Bunting another shot. Don't think Thornton will be much good and will drop out when the bottom 2 exit the competition.

You can't leave the 6th ranked best player out for Klaasen who has only just started to show some form. His year hasn't been that bad despite it not living up to previous efforts. He deserves another shot this year and then if he has another disappointing year, he can bow out for a Bunting/Klaasan. Klaasan has to back up a decent year with another for me before he deserves to enter the Premier League though. If Ian White had done better in the Worlds, he'd have earned it more over Klaasen for me.

You can. Leaving James Wade out in 2014 who was 6th in the world then literally proves that you can. I'd have Bunting over Thornton anytime. Thornton's showings in major tournaments suggest to me that he doesn't show up on the big stage, and over 16 weeks, that could be seriously punishing for him.

Wade had taken a major dip then though and was having problems away from the sport. Thornton's had a slight dip but hasn't been that bad on the stage to be honest. I think you're doing him a slight disservice.

I don't see much PDC action these days, unless it's on ITV. I've been watching the BDO this week as usual. I suppose this is old ground for those who follow the BDO, but I really think the PDC has been poor this year. Aside from Scott Waites and Jeff Smith, what I've seen (not all, admittedly) has been really quite underwhelming. Imagine what it must feel like to be O'Shea, Fitton, Robson, (and to a lesser extent Hankey and Adams), watching the world of darts pass you by, even as the best players switch organisations. Horses for courses I suppose.

White would've been a good shout actually. Shame he didn't turn up at the Worlds, had enjoyed watching him over the last couple of years or so, nice action. I agree with Murphy though, although it would've been harsh on Thornton I personally love to see the explosive quick players in the Premier League format, so if it was up to me I'd have chosen Klaasen ahead of him. I can't really argue with Thornton being picked though.

If Klaasen has a good year then he should be looking for inclusion next time.

Bunting had his shot last time and didn't do much, similarly Huybrechts. I expect Michael Smith to be pushing for the top 4 right until the end.

Caught a bit of the BDO Junior Final this afternoon and I was impressed with what I saw. Robertson and Boyce the two finalists I believe, one 17 and one 16. Big future's ahead if they can continue to improve in the next few years.

Bit of a English v the Dutch feel to the latter stages of the BDO.
