That match was just a crazy standard of darts. Averaging 114 & 109 over 8 sets of darts is just out of this world. Not even Anderson on current form and Taylor in his pomp would live with that kind of average. Plus remember when Taylor was winning the vast majority of his titles, he was only needing to hit/hitting averages in the mid 90's. It's only been the past decade or so that more and more players have come through hitting 100+ averages on a regular basis.

Taylor has been hitting ton plus averages for 20 years I mean the record mvg broke last night was set in 2002. Taylor at his peak was not as good as mvg however he is still better than any other player has ever been including Anderson. If mvg plays the same tonight he wins I doubt Anderson will even match barney's average, I hope I'm wrong because we will be in for a thriller then.

Anderson is the only person out there who can match MVG for scoring power when on form, I don't think we'll see any averages tonight like we saw last night though.

Looking forward to the start of Lakeside in the coming days. Proper, grass roots darts. Love it.

It's grass roots darts but after watching this tournament I find it a bit of a downer as the standard is not even anywhere near on a par. Can any of them even average 100?

Wolfie could average around that if he turned it on for the whole match, same with Durrant, Mitchell and Waites.

A very poor final really with Van Gerwen cruising to victory by the looks of it.

He's just motored away from him without a real test. Very disappointing from Anderson this has been. Gary is generally unstoppable in a lead when things are going his way but I really don't think he's ever been the best at turning a match around.

Klaasen is in the Premier League. Good addition.

Kim Huybrechts is in though which is ridiculous. He's such an arse and quite possibly the least likable player on the circuit. I'd rather Daryl Gurney over him.

How Smith and White haven't had a look in is mental.

I feel sorry for Mesnur Suljovic, ranked 8th in the World yet they pick the 13th in the world as one of the wildcards. Surely having Mensur plays these guys week in week out will improve him even more? I know they went against him due to his "style" but Taylor isn't the quickest of players either.

Mensur wrote to the pdc a couple of months ago to advise he didn't want to be considered for the premier league.

Michael Smith performed poorly last time in the Prem and I guess Ian White just isn't "sexy" enough for Sky. His step-daughter is though.

I would have liked to have seen Van Der Pas given a go as a wildcard instead of Huybrechts. Huybrechts throws fast and hits his share of 180's but that cannot be the only reason to have someone in the Prem, otherwise Ricky Evans would be a lock every year.

I've been watching it, I like the BDO. There's been a few good games, Wolfie in the first round was great.

I've been enjoying it too. It's a different sort of like. The PDC is more an in awe, fuck me they're awesome feel. BDO, you expect the misses but it does bring a certain amount of drama with it that you rarely get with the PDC. Scott Mitchell has probably been the biggest casualty so far.

Lovely bloke is Wolfie. Must be about 60 now, met him at an exhibition a little while back. Played best of 3 against him and he beat me 2-1, he had to be out in 16-18 otherwise I was back throwing at a two darter.

Good to see he got the all clear from prostate cancer at the end of 2016.

I was going to ask you, what's happened to Sam Hewson? Thought he might have broken through by now?

Not entirely sure at the minute, he said at Super League last season he was taking a break as he's been struggling. Whether he has or not I'm not sure. I know he still plays Super League and county but he's not his usual self from what I can gather.

His not usual self is still better than the majority though!

Glen Durrant to move over to the PDC then, think he'll do alright over there.

Fully expect Noppert to go over too, really rate the lad.

I read he'd chosen to stay with the BDO for the next 12 months to honour the trophy?

A couple of lads from my super league have qualified for the UK Open next month. Sam Hewson's (played Lakeside last year and the year before smashed off his bonce) younger brother, Rob and Ross Twell.

Hope they get a good draw and some TV time!
