Oldham rarely bring 1000 to us if ever! Mansfield and Crewe will be the only likely ones and even Crewe you never know.

It will take time but the media centre and gym look a different level to the past! Has Tommys/Vale Social been touched? At least I wont have to check the sheet to avoid birdshit on my arse this time... small things but makes a huge difference when put together.
Surely Walsall will take 1000, they usually bring over 1k here, and your slightly closer. The only time we've brought less than 1000 in recent years was the game we got relegated.

Walsall are always pretty good with their followings at Vale so I’d add them in especially if they are doing well when we play them.

Great work Darren and anyone else who have volunteered over the summer. None of what you say about the state of the stadium is a surprise and in keeping with how run down the club had become. Only have to see that interview Carol did in the Times where it transpired the players were being fed left over pies from matchdays.

I've had worse pies...

Not as a pro footballer though! They even scalded themselves in the showers as we wouldn’t pay for the thermostat to be turned down!

Anyways watched the video from Carol and Kevin... brilliant, first time I’ve been excited to go and watch the Vale in a couple of years or so and not feeling I’m traipsing up from Leicestershire out of duty. Felt like a funeral under Norman, you go as you feel you have to but don’t really want to be there.

Let’s enjoy the new era!

Not wanting you to enjoy it too much tomorrow.
I'll provide a perspective of the home atmosphere from our end after the game...

I'll be making the trip over tomorrow, and calling in the Bulls Head first for a drink. The result seems slightly secondary in a strange way although it will be a great start to the new era with a home win.

Very much looking forward to it now.

Glad to have bagged a Salford ticket without having a ST.

Kudos to Darren and those who volunteered. Credit to the club.

So does this mean with all the cleaning and sprucing after 20 years you will finally finish off that stand?

there are no plans to do that at the moment due to cost, and the fact that 19,000 capacity is already far more than we need

Can you not just bolt seats on the terrace to give it more of a completed look? Whether you need them or not.
As the stand has the best facilities (I'm guessing) would attract more people

Cost of buying seats would be a waste, had been suggested even terracing it by some fans. Would look good although it gradually gets a few seats added.

Not sure what the long term plan will be as where the concourse would be they now have a big gym and the media suite they’ve just put in so that may be an issue in terms of opening it if they did put seating in.

More pressing matters have been the areas currently open being sorted.

If we return to the Championship I dare say we’d look at it but in fairness it’s cost millions already. More than some grounds cost! Damn mine shafts. Adding those second floor boxes probably didn’t help either.

Saw somewhere the plan for that part of the Lorne Street is to make it into a family area which would make sense. Would like to see it finished one day if for no other reason than it has been a non-stop reminder of the fact the last 20 or so years of the club have been pretty awful by and large. I do understand it's not a massive priority at the moment though, really need to look at growing a fanbase which has dwindled significantly under the previous owner first.

It's an eyesore and embarrassing really but when we average 4000 to 6000 depending on success levels it makes no financial sense whatsoever to complete it.

I'm no expert but I'm thinking it's got to be upwards of 75k to complete.
Been left to ruin and decay from our Championship days and I don't see it changing.
The money on playing budget or finish the stand is a no brainer

the problem is that the area behind the seats (the concourse and turnstiles etc....) are not finished or safe, so its on the list to be done, but there is little point spending money on seats when it might not even be seated. Yes, the fans would love it to have a completed look, but its just not going to be used in the short term.

Sir John to be named club president before kick off! Great decision could go with some of his magic mind from those immense sides he built!

Referee gifts Cobblers an equaliser with a corner that was never in a million years! Furious!

Yeah that wasn’t a good decision at all.

Tough conditions for both teams, think we’ve done ok overall. Gibbons needs to learn to stay on his feet more, sliding in like that almost got them in just before that goal.

Competed well though, that Northampton team is huge.

They are surprised we scored from a corner to be honest. Frustrated should be ahead but again as with last season key decisions are costing us.

Hopefully get the winner second half.

Looked solid bar the 30 seconds around the goal, want us to get in on the deck more as we’ve got drawn into Cobblers long ball game which suits their big lads.

Yep need to try and get it out wide as Worrall I think is the one who can win the game for us. They look vulnerable at fullback on both sides if can get our wingers running at them.

Their number 3 is on a booking have a target him really. Want Cullen on really. Been too much of a 4-5-1 this.

Your goal came from a corner that wasn’t according to our local press as well so it’s evened up

Yes it was your guy headed a corner clear.

Disappointing draw but a good battle. Hit bar and their keeper made a good stop at the end but Cobblers were a danger on set pieces.

Probably should be taking all three with the second half chances we had. Work to be done.
