I was adopted when I was 12 by a mixed race married couple - no silly rules back then. Mum was white, Dad was a Kenyan Indian expelled in the 60s. Not exactly the standard family unit back then, but it worked well.

I was pretty embarrassed at first as it was a reason to get slagged, but as I grew older I began to like being different and took an interest in my adopted Dad’s heritage. Sadly both long gone now
