First five games I thought he was crap, until we realised he wasn't a target man and he dominated just about every defence we faced. He's been suspended and then injured, so only played about one and a bit games this season (I think). I'll stick my neck out and say he'll get 10-15 goals if he can get/stay fit.

We’ve got probably one of the best target man at this level over the past decade and Quigley is nowhere near capable at this level of getting the 10-15 goals. I didn’t mind him but he didn’t have much about him. Glad to see Dior doing well though felt he wasn’t given a real chance with us.

I haven’t got any wise words, but I’ve got one or two for you to gobble back up.

Hahaha!

Haha! Whoopsiedoodle. Wasted your joker there, m8.

Yeah, it’s fantastic m8. Pity that 38 year old Jobi MacAnuff ran rings round them, eh? That Darcy is mint, like you said. HAHAHAHAHA!

Four coming right back at ya! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

No. But you did. HAHAHAHAHA!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 4-0.
Cruel.

But fair!

We didn't play him as a target man either. But to be fair it's never easy coming into what was then a really poor side and making a big impact. I remember him being relatively mobile, but based on his appearances for us that's about the best I can say about him.

Down to 8th after today’s slip up and results elsewhere that followed. But I’m not too disheartened. If someone had told me we’d be 8th after 10 games I’d have been delighted with that prospect. The way we started the season in the cups and the first game at Cambridge, I honestly thought we’d be in the bottom 2 all season as we were fucking atrocious.

Since then I’ve seen the new players settle and they’ve shown more than enough to assure me that we’ll finish around mid table or slightly lower at worst. I’ve certainly seen us against 7 possibly 8 teams that I think we can finish above. The main thing is we’re not going to be in any sort of relegation trouble unless half of our squad get season ending injuries. Credit to our manager for getting a group of young unproven cast offs basically and moulding them into something that looks like it can be a half decent team.

Now I’m just preying that Corona doesn’t fuck the season completely.

It seems impossible for an Ian Holloway side to be quite this shit up front, we’re fucking toothless

Yeah, sounded like at most Reuben challenging. Soft pen to us and hope springs,

It was a clear pen, Clem's got a bit of form for giving away silly pens this season.

After that went in, we seemed happy to let FGR have the ball and basically willed them to break us down, something they never really looked like doing.

We've finally got the monkey off our back by beating them, and after a couple of bad results, it's great to get that winning feeling again.

Onto Oldham on Tuesday.

He couldn`t control the ball that seemed to be the biggest problem

It’s hard to see where we go from here as we hurtle towards a very realistic relegation at frightening pace.
The worst squad in many, many generations if not ever - unbalanced, without any quality or variety and led by McCall with baffling selections, tactics (if any) and formations that change by the week. There is no fight whatsoever, no basic level of ability or alternative picks that may offer a better choice. Week on week we gift goals, at the other end we can’t get close to scoring. We’re staring down the barrel.
It’s difficult given just how bad this squad is to imagine that another manager could significantly turn things around but doing nothing and we’re only going one way.

Bad day to be a Bolton resident. 4-0 defeat and the world renowned Middlebrook Shopping Centre is closing for a month.
Yes but is it a bigger town than Northampton? #importantissues

Very happy to have 19 points after 10 games. Looking at the table as it is now, 9 of our 10 games have been against teams in the top half! Gutted Scunthorpe has been postponed, them and Tranmere at home could have been two very nice games to play in our current form

Question to any Newport supporters? Do you feel like you can be a contender this season or do you believe you have had a pretty easy run? 8 of your 10 games have been against bottom half clubs and the 2 in the top half have been Harrogate who sit 12th and Cambridge which you lost. Obviously you still have to win your games regardless to who you play but do you feel like you may struggle against the likes of Exeter, Cheltenham, Salford, etc?

Might not be so nice once we are under new management.

You'll beat us on Tuesday don't worry.
As shrimper92 said, not a chance, you might think you’re bad but you haven’t played us yet

It is promotion form and as you say we’ve had mostly form teams so far and a little crisis mixed into that run!

We are still not firing on all cylinders either and have a few big players out so should only get better as the season progresses which is pleasing.

Shame Scunny is off as we’d have fancied that at home and will likely drop down the table Tuesday but can get the cup ties played and get bodies rested for Tranmere at home in a couple of weeks and a potential big one at Newport.

Great to see the holy one grab a couple, should of easily had his hatrick with the save before half time and then the shot that bounced down of the underside of the bar. He’s put himself back into the frame the past couple of games and shown today he still has it. Just needs to keep of Twitter now and avoid any silly bans!

4 wins in 5 is a good way to bounce back. That Crewe fan hasn’t popped up lately.

At home I’d still fancy our chances
We have got decent players who spectacularly underperformed under the previous manager. Our recent form won't necessarily tell you anything about the future, although the game at Vale Park would be pretty early in any new manager's tenure.

Plus, our reserves actually drew there in the nonsense cup.

Yeah I must admit I really didn’t think Tranmere would struggle this season. A new manager can definitely revitalise your team! We also made 10 changes for that cup game too so it didn’t really mean anything for either side! Has your current manager been sacked now? And do you think a replacement will be found in 2 weeks time? Interested to see how clubs approach things like this during the C-19

Yes, Jackson has gone and we expect to have somebody in place by next Saturday.

I am not certain we will have improved by the time we play you, and you will be favourites for the game. Just get frustrated by the assumption we are a basket case like Scunthorpe / Southend, whereas we are really just suffering from a poor managerial appointment.

I feel the same, I don’t think we’ve seen the best from vale yet! Although things are definitely picking up, beating sides at either end of the table now is really satisfying. I think Amoo was the missing piece in a lot of ways. Worral is playing better on his favoured side, Mitch Clarke is unreal for league 2, what he did to that Southend defender for the second goal shouldn’t be shown on TV before 9pm! Askey seems to have found his favoured starting 11. I would have liked to see McKirdy and co subbed on for the last 20 minutes so they can have the chance to try pick a little of that team confidence and start giving some real fight for spots but I reckon he will give them a run out in the FA cup

That’s good then, at least it’s a positive step by your club. I certainly don’t see you as a basket case, I just think it would have been a nice time to play you more because of ourselves rather than what you are doing. Every year there’s a side who goes from bottom half and steam rolls up the league, my money would be on either you or Bradford to be that side this season based on the current table

Assuming both cup ties are played we can get some minutes into the players coming back hopefully such as Mills and McKirdy and who knows even Manny.

Have to see if the Covid affects more than the three currently isolating but hopefully not. Guess we will go full strength for Kings Lynn and rotate for Liverpool U21s who we should beat with changes (only need a draw I think anyway)

I feared we’d slip up today, typical Vale but we did a professional job on them and one plus this season touch wood is we seem to have learnt the lessons of last season and our game management is far better!
