Great move by Labour. If she doesn't show it completely undermines her image as the strong candidate.

The unwillingness of Theresa May to offer herself to Jeremy Corbyn and the British public for a debate in my view is a disgrace. This is the public's opportunity to make an informed decision on who they wish to carry the UK through the Brexit negotiations. If she doesn't show (and it is quite obviously because she is scared), then that is an admission that she is not strong enough to carry us through the negotiations or to lead this government.

Now, I saw Amber Rudd on the tele the other day. She was actually pretty good. But if Jeremy lays down the gauntlet she can't send in her lackey. It is appalling.

Blinder by Corbyn, May wants us to see her as the hardball negotiator we need for brexit and she won't even face domestic opponents supposedly unfit for office :D

ETA Though it means no Corbyn at FGR this afty, not bothering for the second rate stuff I get enough of that regular season.

Bare in mind though that with May determined not to talk to plebs (or possibly too scared of being laughed at again by the great unwashed), there is a chance this could turn in to an uncomfortable 6 vs 1 battle for him.

I'm enjoying it.
I am too, actually. This late surge by Jez has injected some life into what previously seemed a boring non-contest, a cakewalk for the Tories. The Corbynistas (and “the left” generally) have got their hopes up. Pro-Brexit conservatives are bricking it. People actually give a shit. No one can credibly indulge in lazy talk about how it doesn't matter because all politicians are ultimately are the same. It’s high-stakes political drama, which is exactly what a general election should be.

We are living through one of the most interesting periods of modern political history. It's bloody trying at times, but I'll gladly take it over the coma-inducing boredom of the late 90s and early-to-mid 00s.

The discourse can sometimes be fairly ugly ( I've been guilty of this tbf) but you're right, it feels different. People are energised and motivated. I've campaigned before but never with so much determination and enjoyment ( at least in electoral politics) I've turned into a Labour nerd, can't even take my daughter to nursery without trying to canvass the staff and parents.

I can't think of anything worse for our country than having Abbott and Thornberry as ministers in government. Seeing them both on Question Time since The EU referendum shows they both should never be anywhere near being in government, they are both clowns who have no respect for democracy as it goes against their own views.

Whilst they are admittedly poor, a political party is a lot more than just 2 members.

Let's not forget the Conservatives have Jeremy Hunt, Liz Truss, Andrea Leadsom, Philip Hammond and Boris Johnson in highly powered positions.
Are Michael Gove and Nicky Morgan still in Government as well? Oh and Jacob Rees-Mogg FFS.

I don't mind Rees-Mogg even though he's a Tory and the rest you mentioned are a waste of an MP's salary.

Theresa May on Corbyn's debate challenge: “He ought to be paying more attention to thinking abt Brexit negotiations – that’s what I’m doing”

Then why call an election in the middle of the Brexit process? Daft comment.

He's funny and clearly a character but he is also an arse. Campaigning for somerset to have a different time to the rest of UK, having his nanny go round with him when campaigning.

Worst of all is his preference for filibuster to prevent democracy when he doesn't like a piece of legislation. One of which was to improve the NHS.

Disgraceful besmirching of Rees-Mogg's good name. Cut it out, son.

Listen to the interview he gave to Matt Forde on the filibuster. He accepts it doesn't look good but it's one of the unfortunate quirks of our system.

The bill in question wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway.

I don't care, it's a device that should be sent back in time with him

Yep, best not to listen to anything that won't confirm what you already think.
I think the filibuster is undemocratic and an outdated piece of our democracy. Listening to Rees Mogg trying to justify his use of it will not change my view that forcing legislation to run out of time is a waste of the salary my taxes provide to my politicians.

Lol.
Never voted socialist or labour in my life.
Never will, but I will show no sympathy to toffs who think politics is a game played with my money.

Paul Nuttall.

I almost feel bad for the c***, almost.

Farron has done surprisingly well, probably stand out so far. Corbyn holding serve from his previous public appearances this week. Rudd looks like a deer in headlights.
