I was flying back from Dinard airport which is in the middle of nowhere and only has one flight a day and as we were sitting on the plane waiting to take off two wild boar wandered onto the track and we had to wait about 45 minutes until they could be chased off. That's the only flight delay I've ever had.

It has one flight a day to Stansted and some days in the summer it flies to the Channel Islands and to East Midlands as well. It's a strange airport. No screen with flight/check in times because it doesn't need it. Only one check in desk. And, of course, an Irish bar.

St Patrick's Day.
I never went but I can see how it can get on someone's tits. Living in a city where a lot of beerfests are going on, what really pisses me off is how people who don't even like beer just buy the costume and drink it like it's been coming from their mother's tits from day one. Then go back to how beer is evil once the party's over.
When I'll get a job, I'll try and go to one. See what the fuss is about. Bearing in mind that I've been to the Oktoberfest twice so it'll have to be fucking special to impress me.

I just don't see how it has spread worldwide.

If you're actually Irish, fair enough. Otherwise, no.

That's just it though. For a lot of people the smallest hint of Irish in their ancestry (regardless of how far back it was, how tenuous the link or whether it's based on fact/wishful thinking) means they're Irish on St. Patrick's Day. And for some on every other day too. See BlueBee.

There's a tent gone up in Sheffield city centre for St Patrick's day. Probably just fall of people talking about Sinn Fein, potato famines and U2.

Proper butter is meant to be in a lidded butter dish and left out. That is what a butter dish is for. Otherwise it's like trying to spread concrete. Nasty shit like Lurpak Spreadable etc isn't butter, it's a vegetable oil based spread with a nominal amount of butter in it. These are designed specifically so they spread out the fridge. I'm full of useful information I am.

I love St. Patrick's day because it's my birthday and the thought of all the drunken revellers gives me an excuse to stay in and have a quiet one.

Very badly designed then, Lurpak Spreadable is an oxymoron.

Campaign for Real Butter. Fuck fake fat. Down with dissimulated dairy. Demur to faux beurre. Sod pseudo suet. No more created cream or spurious spread. Pack a proper pat. Lobby for legitimate lard. Clarify clarification and say gee whiz for genuine ghee.

Now there's a discussion we've not had on this site (or you know, that other site site) in a fair old while.

They're cakes.

Discuss.

When they're called 'Jaffa Biscuits' the matter may be open for discussion

My sister and mum love marzipan stuff and get Battenburgs once or twice a week. I don't mind them myself, but I could take them or leave them tbh.
