wins
we have here in cologne for a few days a new acting mayor.

what really adorable is, she won the elections ( was from the start the big favourite to win it) as an independent candidate without having any affilations to any parties here in Germany.

furthermore she were stabed by an german idiot for her refugees politic she had planed for cologne weeks before the elections. she survived of course.

but was really impressive was, was the fact after she was attacked all the other parties stopped their election campaign until the election took place.

After years of ridiculous rents for relatively small spaces, we're finally in the priority band for permanent social housing. :woo:

I was on Gold band for 3 months before getting my flat in Wells, i was in a B&B which was a shithole but looking back those 3 months were worth it to get what i have now, good luck in finding somewhere you like. :2thumb:

3 months definetely isn't bad if you got yourself a place nice suitable place. Since leaving mum's after getting married my housing situation has been less than ideal, not because of the properties themselves but it's just so damn expensive. Will finally have place with lifetime tenancy that we can do up to our liking and extra cash at the end of the month. :D

How does it work getting on that list these days? I know a bloke at work is always moaning because he wants to get a council house, his missus doesn't work but obviously he does and apparently him working is blocking it.

Pretty much the situation with us in the sense that cos we had income they just put us aside 'advising' us to private rent while we wait. Been doing so for coming up to 4 years now and with the time arriving for my little boy to begin school, it was really about time to settle somewhere more permanent.

Is there like a 'maximum earnings' ceiling before you no longer qualify for council housing? one has to think that if you've got earnings you'd be much better off getting a mortgage!

I think it was around 85k household income, in which case like you said one would be better off with a mortgage anyway.

I only got my ground floor flat thanks to my GP who complained to the council as i'm disabled and can't climb stairs,Mendip Council wouldn't give me anywhere until he intervened on my behalf then they couldn't do enough for me.

Yeah after conferring with the missus (she's a specialist mental health support worker, so helps out with their housing situation) it's 71k ceiling for 1-2 bed flats and 85k for 3+ family sized properties.

I only got my ground floor flat thanks to my GP who complained to the council as i'm disabled and can't climb stairs,Mendip Council wouldn't give me anywhere until he intervened on my behalf then they couldn't do enough for me.

The missus also tells me how her organisation (Look Ahead) and the NHS doctors they liase with have to often intervene because councils don't seem to take into account things like disabilities or mental health as they should until it gets put to them by professionals. It's good to see your doctor get involved and it working out for you in the end mate, dealing with the council (especially when there's a c*** on the other end of the line) can be tremendously difficult.

Playing my cat up.

If he lies on his left side I put my hand under him on the right side. He then rolls over to his right side to try and attack my hand. I then put my hand under him on the opposite side and he then rolls back over to attack my other hand.

It just goes on forever, he doesn't seem to be catching on.
