The siren adds a nice touch to the opening. I think it fell off after that.

My new-found respect for the master distilling legend that is Mr David Beckham O.B.E, in this truly enlightening and inspirational interview.

https://whiskysponge.com/2016/08/05/david-beckham-master-distiller-a-whiskysponge-exclusive/

This paragraph in particular was truly poetic; what a visionary man.

' “When did you first begin Master Distilling Mr Beckham?” Whiskysponge enquires next.

“I was one the cusp of adolescence when I first Master Distilled; alone in my bedroom at home. My parents had left the house temporarily to arrange my future marriage to Victoria and I was simply experimenting as young people so often to at that age. I had heard other, older boys at school talk about Master Distilling; some even boasted of how they would often Master Distil multiple times in one day. I felt I should try it for myself but I was not prepared for how wonderful it felt, I can still recall those ecstatic initial moments as the milky foreshots first spilled forth from my little spirit safe. I was not yet skilled in the ways of separating out my foreshots, heads and tails; the first few times I Master Distilled it was messy and took great efforts to clean up. I was very secretive about my new habit in those early days. I was so desperate to pursue my dream of Master Distilling but my parents insisted I learn a real trade in case it didn’t work out for me so I had to become a professional footballer instead. I remember all those times on the pitch, running around, falling over, pretending to be hurt, running about some more, crying, looking confused, missing penalty shootouts; all the time dreaming of distiller’s yeast and musty bung holes. Thankfully my dream is now realised and I am able to create works of great and exquisite liquid art such as Haig Club Clubman.” '

wouldn't prioritise either. Both are brilliant in their individual way. I am a lover of both.

Each to his own and all that but I can't get my head around why someone would pay good money to wear something that looks like its been worn by a homeless person.

My choice of friends.

So, I've got a really close friend, she is the best. Known her from when I worked at Waitrose and she has only ever met one friend of mine. Last night I went for a few drinks with her, arrived at the pub, it was actually annoying how much she was on her phone. After a pint she was like let's move down the road, I was like yeah whatever. Walked into the Slug and Lettuce and there were three friends of mine sitting at a table, WTF? Walked into the place and there was a mate of mine who lives the other side of London, I was genuinely like WTF? Eventually a bunch of other friend trickled through.

With only ever meeting one of my friends once she managed to gather like 10 people and organise a surprise birthday party for me. To say I'm blown away is an understatement.

Additionally the last few years haven't been the best for me with my dad's unexpected death and my gran's (his mum) fast decent into insanity and stroke which lead to her death a year from it (lived with her until I was 4 as my parents couldn't afford their own place (anyone walking from Leyton station to Leyton Orient would walk past the place, basically why I'm an Orient fan... Fuck sake granny), fair to say we were very close). Towards her end when she was in a home me and my mum had a holiday planned to the Caribbean for my dad's anniversary. My friend above called the care home every few days to check on her status.

I was debating a job in Ecuador recently but one of things that has held me back is the current frail health of my other nan. Above friend has said that if I do go away she'll pop round my nans every week for tea and cake to make sure everything is okay. Like, she just goes above and beyond a normal friend and I am so damn lucky!

Additionally when my gran was in a care home we were looking to sell her flat in order to raise funds. Another mate of mine, an estate agent with a long term (10 years) girlfriend and daughter (who I am godfather to, which is a complete honour), with the costs that brings plus mortgage etc. offered a deal that if we rented out the flat he would make up the shortfall for the care home bill, which completely blew me away.

So, things I like, friends in general, not got a clue what I've done to deserve it but I genuinely have some of the best ones possible to have who go far and away beyond what I'd expect from a friend.

You're a good guy mate. I'm sure you'd do the same for them if it was the other way around. Embrace the love.

You're too kind TA. Not even sure how myself and Lauren became friends. Worked with her for 5 or so months and we got on well, but at the time there were probably five or so people I was closer (relatively speaking in terms of work friends, incidentally there is only one other I keep in regular contact with) to at the time. I'm also six years her senior, and for the most part she's been at university the other side of the country, only graduated this year. Think I sent her a Facebook message wishing her the best at university and it just took off from there, now having a quick check and three years later we're 28,617 messages down the line. Weird how things happen.

Sometimes, people click and you'll never know why. As TA has said, from everything I can tell on here, you're a one of the good guys, and she clearly sees that too. MY wife and I have nothing in common, but we just get on so well together, we've been together now for 34 years and married for 29. I'm not advocating you whack a ring on her finger, but for some reason in life, you find someone you understand, and they understand you, and she certainly sounds like one of life's more special people.
